FUEL QUALITY
Choosing the Right Fuel
Your vehicle is designed to operate onregular unleaded gasoline with a minimumpump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87.
Some fuel stations, particularly those in highaltitude areas, offer fuels posted as regularunleaded gasoline with an octane ratingbelow 87. The use of these fuels could resultin engine damage that will not be coveredby the vehicle warranty.
For best overall vehicle and engineperformance, premium fuel with an octanerating of 91 or higher is recommended. Theperformance gained by using premium fuelis most noticeable in hot weather as well asother conditions, for example when towinga trailer. See Towing (page 298).
Do not be concerned if the enginesometimes knocks lightly. However, if theengine knocks heavily while using fuel withthe recommended octane rating, contact anauthorized dealer to prevent any enginedamage.
We recommend Top Tier detergentgasolines, where available to help minimizeengine deposits and maintain optimal vehicleand engine performance. For additionalinformation, refer to www.toptiergas.com.
Note:Use of any fuel for which the vehiclewas not designed can impair the emissioncontrol system, cause loss of vehicleperformance, and cause damage to theengine which may not be covered by thevehicle Warranty.
Do not use:
•Diesel fuel.
•Fuels containing kerosene or paraffin.
•Fuel containing more than 15% ethanolor E85 fuel.
•Fuels containing methanol.
•Fuels containing metallic-based additives,including manganese-based compounds.
•Fuels containing the octane boosteradditive, methylcyclopentadienylmanganese tricarbonyl (MMT).
•Leaded fuel, using leaded fuel isprohibited by law.
The use of fuels with metallic compoundssuch as methylcyclopentadienyl manganesetricarbonyl (commonly known as MMT), whichis a manganese-based fuel additive, willimpair engine performance and affect theemission control system.

Note:This only functions if your 12-voltbattery has power and the starter can spinthe engine. If vehicle battery voltage is notsufficient, an external 12-volt power sourcesuch as jumper cables, battery charger orjump pack may be required for this featureto function.
Note:Once in this mode, sufficient batteryvoltage must be maintained or your vehiclereturns to park.
WARNING: When doing thisprocedure, you need to take thetransmission out of park (P) which meansyour vehicle can roll freely. To avoidunwanted vehicle movement, always fullyapply the parking brake prior to doing thisprocedure. Use wheels chocks ifappropriate.
1. Do not press the brake pedal. Press theSTART/STOP button.
2. Fully press down on the brake pedal.Keep the brakes applied through step 7.
3. Press the accelerator pedal to the floorand hold through step 7.
4. Press the neutral (N) button on thetransmission selector.
5. Press the neutral (N) button again toenter Stay in Neutral mode.
6. Press and release the push to startbutton, the transmission needs aminimum of 2 seconds to exit park.
7. When neutral (N) is displayed, the brakeand accelerator pedals can be released.
To exit Stay in Neutral mode, select adifferent gear.
A message appears in your informationdisplay screen when your vehicle hasentered Stay in Neutral mode.
Drive (D)
Drive (D) is the normal driving position forthe best fuel economy. The overdrivefunction allows automatic upshifts anddownshifts through gears one through ten.
Adaptive Tow/Haul Mode
WARNING: Do not use tow/haulwhen the road surface is slippery. Failureto follow this instruction could result in theloss of control of your vehicle.
Adaptive tow/haul has two modes, automaticthat is enabled by default and off.
To turn adaptive tow/haul off or on, use theinformation display controls. See GeneralInformation (page 119). The indicator lightilluminates in the instrument cluster.
Key adaptive tow/haul features:
•The system remains in the same mode,even after a key cycle.
•Is only available in normal drive modes(Normal 2H and Normal 4A).
The adaptive tow/haul feature improvestransmission operation when towing a traileror a heavy load. All transmission gear rangesare available when using adaptive tow/haul.

SelectShift™ Automatic Transmission
Your vehicle is equipped with a SelectShiftAutomatic transmission. The SelectShiftAutomatic transmission gives you the abilityto change gears up or down, without aclutch, as desired.
In order to prevent the engine from runningat too low of an RPM, which may cause it tostall, SelectShift still automatically makessome downshifts if it has determined thatyou have not downshifted in time. AlthoughSelectShift makes some downshifts for you,it still allows you to downshift at any time aslong as the SelectShift determines thatdamage to the engine does not occur fromover-revving.
Note:Engine damage may occur if youmaintain excessive engine revving withoutshifting.
SelectShift does not automatically upshift,even if the engine is approaching the RPMlimit. It must be shifted manually by pressingthe + paddle.
Pull the + paddle on the steering wheel toactivate SelectShift.
•Pull the right paddle (+) to upshift.
•Pull the left paddle (–) to downshift.
SelectShift in drive (D):
Provides a temporary manual mode forperforming more demanding maneuverswhere extra control of gear selection isrequired (for example, when towing, downhilldriving or overtaking). This mode holds aselected gear for a temporary period of timedependent on driver inputs (for example,steering or accelerator pedal input).
In SelectShift mode, the instrument clusterdisplays your currently selected gear. If yourequest a gear, but it is not available due tovehicle conditions, low speed, too highengine speed for requested gear selection,the current gear briefly flashes.
Note:At full accelerator pedal travel, thetransmission downshifts for maximumperformance.
Note:In low traction conditions, you can pullaway in second gear using SelectShift. Toperform this operation, select drive (D) andpress the + paddle until 2 is displayed on thecluster. Your vehicle is now ready to movein 2nd gear.

LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL (IF
EQUIPPED)
The Electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD)system directs torque, enabling the vehicleto drive over terrain and road conditions thata conventional axle cannot. The system isactive at all times and requires no input fromthe driver.
Note:If your vehicle is not at optimaloperating conditions or a system fault ispresent, a warning may be displayed in theinstrument cluster. Depending on thewarning, your vehicle may need to beserviced. For more information regarding thesystem information messages, SeeInformation Messages (page 124).
Locking Function (If Equipped)
The lock button engages ‘lockermode’.
With the locker engaged, the systemelectronically locks the differential causingboth half shafts to turn at the same rate. Thisincreases traction during off road events.
The locker mode may automaticallydisengage based on certain conditions suchas vehicle speed. When engaged, a telltalein the instrument cluster will illuminate amberand the switch button will be illuminated.When the speed is exceeded the telltale willturn gray, the locker will be disengaged andbe in standby mode until the speedconditions are met. If the eLSD system isfaulted and the locker cannot engage, awarning message will be displayed in theinstrument cluster and the switch button willflash.
Spare Tire
If your vehicle is equipped with an ElectronicLimited Slip Differential, a spare tire of adifferent size than the tire provided, shouldnot be used. If a spare tire is installed, amessage may appear, indicating the systemhas disabled automatically or reducedfunction to prevent system overheat anddamage. It is recommended to reinstall therepaired or replaced road tire as soon aspossible. When the road tire is replaced, thesystem will resume normal operation on thenext key cycle.
Trailer Towing
The Electronic Limited Slip Differentialenhances vehicle stability during trailer towoperation. During high demand traileringevents (such as steep grades, high speedsor with a spare tire), the system may providea warning in the instrument cluster andreduce function or enter a temporarilydisabled state. To resume normal function,stop the vehicle in a safe location and allowthe unit to adequately cool. Once the systemhas reached normal operating temperatures,system function will be restored and theElectronic Limited Slip Differential Restoredmessage will be displayed.

WARNING: The system will turn offif a malfunction is apparent. Failure to takecare may result in the loss of control ofyour vehicle, serious personal injury ordeath.
The system uses your vehicle's brakes tohold your vehicle at a standstill after you stopyour vehicle and release the brake pedal.For example, Auto Hold can assist you whilestopping at traffic lights or while in trafficjams by holding the brake pressure for youonce you bring your vehicle to a stop.
Make sure you switch the system off beforetowing with your vehicle.
Note:In case of a malfunction in the systemwhile Auto Hold actively holds the vehicle(for example, low power supply), a messageappears in the information display askingyou to press the brake pedal. If you see thismessage, press the brake pedalimmediately.
Note:The system only activates if itrecognizes it is applying enough brakepressure. On a steep hill or slope, make sureyou press the brake pedal sufficiently toactivate the system.
Note:In some cases, Auto Hold might handover to the parking brake. When the parkingbrake applies, the red brake lamp appears.This is normal. When you press theaccelerator pedal, the drive away releasefeature releases the parking brake.
Note:Auto Hold works on all road grades.
Press the button to switch the system on andoff. The indicator light illuminates when youswitch the system on.
Note:You can only switch the system on ifyou close the door and fasten your seatbelt.
Note:The system turns off every time youpower down your vehicle.
Note:The system remembers the last settingwhen you start your vehicle.
Note:When in reverse (R), Auto Hold doesnot function.
When the system is off, your vehicle behavesthe same as a vehicle without Auto Hold.
There is an indicator lamp in the instrumentcluster that has two modes, active andunavailable:
The auto hold active indicatorilluminates in the informationdisplay when the system holdsyour vehicle stationary. When in active mode,press the brake pedal and the Auto Holdbutton to switch the system off.

The system uses three types of guides tohelp you see what is behind your vehicle:
•Active guidelines (if equipped): Show theintended path of your vehicle whenreversing.
•Fixed guidelines: Show the actual pathyour vehicle is moving in while reversingin a straight line. This can be helpfulwhen backing into a parking space oraligning your vehicle with another objectbehind you.
•Centerline: Helps align the center of yourvehicle with an object. For example, atrailer.
Note:If the transmission is in reverse (R) andthe luggage compartment door or liftgate isopen, no rear view camera features display.
Note: When towing, the camera only seeswhat you are towing. This might not provideadequate coverage as it usually provides innormal operation and some objects mightnot be seen. In some vehicles, theguidelines may disappear when you connectthe trailer tow connector.
The camera may not operate correctly underthe following conditions:
•Nighttime or dark areas if one or bothreverse lamps are not operating.
•Mud, water or debris obstructs thecamera's view. Clean the lens with a soft,lint-free cloth and non-abrasive cleaner. The rear view camera has a washer thatactivates when you use the rear windowwasher. See Rear Window Wiper andWashers (page 95).
•The rear of your vehicle is hit ordamaged, causing the camera to becomemisaligned.

USING ADAPTIVE CRUISE
CONTROL (IF EQUIPPED)
WARNING: Always pay closeattention to changing road conditions whenusing adaptive cruise control. The systemdoes not replace attentive driving. Failingto pay attention to the road may result ina crash, serious injury or death.
WARNING: Do not use the adaptivecruise control when entering or leaving ahighway, on roads with intersections orroundabouts or non-vehicular traffic orroads that are winding, slippery, unpaved,or steep slopes.
WARNING: Do not use the systemin poor visibility, for example fog, heavyrain, spray or snow.
WARNING: Do not use the systemwhen towing a trailer with aftermarkettrailer brake controls. Aftermarket trailerbrakes will not function properly when youswitch the system on because the brakesare electronically controlled. Failing to doso may result in loss of vehicle control,which could result in serious injury.
WARNING: Do not use tire sizesother than those recommended becausethis can affect the normal operation of thesystem. Failure to do so may result in a lossof vehicle control, which could result inserious injury.
WARNING: Adaptive cruise controlmay not detect stationary or slow movingvehicles below 6 mph (10 km/h).
WARNING: Adaptive cruise controldoes not detect pedestrians or objects inthe road.
WARNING: Adaptive cruise controldoes not detect oncoming vehicles in thesame lane.
WARNING: Adaptive cruise controlis not a crash warning or avoidancesystem.
Note:It is your responsibility to stay alert,drive safely and be in control of the vehicleat all times.
The system adjusts your vehicle speed tomaintain the set gap between you and thevehicle in front of you in the same lane. Youcan select four gap settings.
The system uses a radar sensor that projectsa beam directly in front of your vehicle.
