Introduction
Be careful not to hurt yourself when inspecting your vehicle, replacing a tire, or doing some
kind of maintenance such as car w ashing. In particular, wear thick work gloves such as
cotton gloves when touching areas that are difficult to see whi le inspecting or working on
your vehicle. Doing inspections or procedures with your bare ha nds could cause injury.
If you are unsure about any procedure this manual describes, we strongly urge you to have a
reliable and qualified service shop perform the work, preferabl y an Authorized Mazda
Dealer.
Factory-trained Mazda technicians and genuine Mazda parts are b est for your vehicle.
Without this expertise and the parts that have been designed an d made especially for your
Mazda, inadequate, incomplete, and insufficient servicing may r esult in problems. This
could lead to vehicle damage or an accident and injuries.
For expert advice and quality service, consult an Authorized Ma zda Dealer.
To continue warranty eligibility and to protect your investment , it is your responsibility to
properly maintain your vehicle according to factory recommended schedules outlined in this
manual. As part of this you mu st keep your maintenance records, receipts, repair orders and
any other documents as evidence this maintenance was performed. You must present these
documents, should any warranty coverage disagreement occur. Fai lure to do so can result in
your warranty being voided ei ther in whole or in part.
This evidence may consist of the following:
The Mazda Scheduled Maintenance Record, refer to the Warranty B ooklet, must be
completely filled out showing mileage, repair order number, dat e for each service, and
signed by a qualified automotive service technician who service vehicles.
Original copies of repair orders or other receipts that include the mileage and date the
vehicle was serviced. Each receipt should be signed by a qualified automotive service
technician.
For self maintenance, a statement that you completed the mainte nance yourself,
displaying mileage and the date t he work was performed. Also, receipts for the
replacement parts (fluid, filters , etc.) indicating the date and mileage must accompany this
statement.

*2 Use of FL-22 is recommended when replacing engine coolant. Using engine coolant other than FL-22 may
cause serious damage to the engine and cooling system.

than the recommended intervals.

administered by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) system, at no cost to you the consumer.
BBB AUTO LINE works with consumers and the manufacturer in an a ttempt to reach a
mutually acceptable resolution of any warranty related concerns . If the BBB is not able to
facilitate a settlement they will provide an informal hearing b efore an arbitrator.
You are required to resort to BBB AUTO LINE before exercising r ights or seeking remedies
under the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, 15 U.S.C. § 2301 et seq. To the extent
permitted by the applicable state “Lemon Law”, you are also req uired to resort to BBB
AUTO LINE before exercising any rights or seeking remedies unde r the “Lemon Law”. If
you choose to seek remedies that are not created by the Magnuso n-Moss Warranty Act or

approximate date and mileage at the time any problem(s) were fi rst brought to the
attention of Mazda or one of our dealers, and a statement of the relief you are seeking.
5. BBB AUTO LINE staff may try to help resolve your dispute thro ugh mediation. If
mediation is not successful, or if you do not wish to participa te in mediation, claims
within the program's jurisdicti on may be presented to an arbitr ator at an informal
hearing. The arbitrator's decision should ordinarily be issued within 40 days from the
time your complaint is filed; there may be a delay of 7 days if you did not first contact
Mazda about your problem, or a de lay of up to 30 days if the arbitrator requests an
inspection/report by an impartial technical expert or further i nvestigation and report by
BBB AUTO LINE.

▼Replacing a Tire
WA R N I N G
Always use tires that are in good condition:
Driving with worn tires is dangerous. Reduce
d braking, steering, and traction could result in
an accident.
If a tire wears evenly, a wear i ndicator will appear as a solid band across the tread.
Replace the tire when this happens.

You should replace the tire before the band crosses the entire tread.
NOTE
Tires degrade over time, even when they are not being used on the road. It is recommended
that tires generally be replaced when they are 6 years or older. Heat caused by hot climates
or frequent high load ing conditions can accelerate the aging proc ess. You should replace
the spare tire when you replace the other road tires due to the aging of the spare tire. The
period in which the tire was manufactured (both week and year) is indicated by a 4-digit
number.

The way you drive has a great deal to do with your tire mileage
and safety. So cultivate
good driving habits for your own benefit.
Observe posted speed limits and d rive at speeds that are safe for the existing weather
conditions
Avoid fast starts, stops and turns
Avoid potholes and objects on the road
Do not run over curbs or hit the tire against the curb when parking
