Child seat on the front-passenger seat
Warning sticker on the front-passenger sun visor

Risk of injury
If the front-passenger front airbag is not
disabled:
R The child secured in a child restraint sys-
tem on the front-passenger seat could be
injured seriously or even fatally if the
front-passenger front airbag is deployed
in an accident, especially if it is near the
front-passenger front airbag when it is
triggered.
R You must not secure a child in a rear-
ward-facing child restraint system on the
front-passenger seat. Only secure a rear-
ward-facing child restraint system on a
suitable rear seat.
R You must move the front-passenger seat
to the rearmost position if you wish to
secure a child in a forward-facing child
restraint system on the front-passenge r
seat.
The front-passenger front airbag is not dis-
abled:
R on vehicles without automatic child seat
recognition in the front-passenger seat*
R on vehicles with automatic child seat rec-
ognition on the front-passenger seat* if there is no child restraint system with
automatic child seat recognition fitted to
the front-passenger seat.
R if the 5 PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF
warning lamp on the centre console is
not lit on vehicles with automatic child
seat recognition on the front-passenger
seat*.
To draw attention to this danger, there is an
appropriate warning sticker on the dash-
board as well as on both sides of the sun
visor on the front-passenger side.
Information about recommended child
restraint systems is available at any
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
Automatic child seat recognition on the
front-passenger seat*
If your vehicle does not have automatic child
seat recognition on the front-passenger seat,
this is indicated by a special sticker.
The sticker is affixed to the side of the dash-
board on the front-passenger side. It is visible
when you open the front-passenger door.
The indicator lamp is located on the centre

X Make sure that the seat belt is routed
through seat belt guides 2on side head
restraints 1.
X Pull the belt smoothly from the belt reel.
X Engage the belt tongue in the buckle .
X If the integrated child seat is being used
without the padded table, make sure that
the belt:
R is routed as low as possible across the
child's pelvic area
R is tightened across the lap by pulling
upwards on the child's shoulder belt
R is routed through seat belt guides 2on
side head restraints 1
R is tight and is routed across the middle of
the child's shoulder
R is not twisted and does not pass across the
child's neck or under the child's arm
X Adjust the head restraint (Y page 89). Folding in the child seat

General notes Thermatic is only operational when the
engine is running. Optimum operation is only
achieved when you drive with the side win-
dows and sliding/tilting sunroof*/panorama
sliding sunroof* closed .
You can allow the air-conditioning system to
adjust automatically or you can adjust it man-
ually.
In automatic mode, Thermatic cools or heats
the vehicle interior according to:
R The selected temperature
R The outside temperature
R The intensity of the sunlight
i Ventilate the vehicle for a brief period
during warm weather, e.g. using the sum-
mer opening feature (Y page 111). This
helps you to achieve the desired interior
temperature more quickly.
The integrated filter filters out most particles
of dust and completely filters out pollen.
i A clogged filter reduces the amount of ai r
supplied to the vehicle interior. For this rea-
son, you should always observe the interval
for replacing the filter, which is specified in
the Service Booklet. As it depends on envi- ronmental conditions, e.g. heavy air pollu-
tion, the interval may be slightly shorter
than stated in the Service Booklet. G

following pages for heating or cooling. The
windows could otherwise mist up. This may

roof* are closed, otherwise the windows
may mist up. Controlling the air conditioning auto-
matically
i If you have set the air-conditioning sys-
tem to automatic, you only need to set the
temperature. In automatic mode, the air-
flow and air distribution do not need to be
adjusted. The cooling with dehumidifica-
tion function is switched on in automatic
mode. If necessary, cooling with dehumid-
ification can be deactivated.

Interchange the front and rear wheels only
if they have the same dimensions, for exam-
ple size, offset, etc.
After every wheel interchange/change,
have the tightening torque checked at a
qualified specialist workshop that has the
necessary specialist knowledge and tools
to carry out the work required. Mercedes-
Benz recommends that you use a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre for this pur-
pose. In particular, work relevant to safety
or on safety-related systems must be car-
ried out at a qualified specialist workshop.
The wheels could work loose if they are not
tightened to a tightening torque of
130 Nm.
For safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz recom -
mends that you only use wheel bolts of the
correct size which have been approved for
Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
The wheels may be interchanged every 5,000
km to 10,000 km depending on the degree of
tyre wear, provided that the vehicle has the
same size front and rear tyres. Do not reverse
the direction of tyre rotation. Operation

0 Driving abroad
An extensive Mercedes-Benz Service networ k
is also available in other countries. You can
obtain the relevant workshop directories
from any Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
Only low-octane fuel is available in certain
countries.
You can find further information about fuel
grades on (Y page 204). Symmetrical dipped beam
If your journey takes you to countries where
vehicles are driven on the opposite side of the
road to the country in which the vehicle is
registered, your headlamps must be switched
to symmetrical dipped beam. Oncoming traf -
fic will be dazzled less .
X Have the headlamps switched over at a
qualified specialist workshop, e. g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre. G
Risk of accident
Have your headlamps switched back to
asymmetrical dipped beam if you visit a
country in which traffic drives on the same
side of the road as in the country in which
your vehicle was registered. You may oth- erwise dazzle the oncoming traffic and
could cause an accident.
Trailer towing*
Folding out the ball coupling
Please also observe the notes on the restric-
ted function of Parktronic* when towing a
trailer on (Y page 155).
Before you can tow a trailer with your vehicle,
you must fold out the ball coupling.
The release wheel is located behind the left-
hand side trim panel in the boot/luggage
compartment . G
Risk of accident
Make sure that the ball coupling is
engaged, either in its folded out or folded
in position, and that the indicator lamp is
off.
Do not turn the release wheel when a traile r
is coupled up. The trailer might otherwise

Active Service System
ASSYST PLUS, the Active Service System,
tells you when the next service is due.
Services that are due appear in the multi-
function display:

Service A due Service message in a vehicle with a luxury multi-
function steering wheel*
The letter indicates which service must be
carried out. Astands for a minor service and
B for a major service. A number or another
letter may be displayed after the letter. This
figure indicates any necessary additiona l
maintenance work to be performed. If you
report this displayed information to a quali-
fied specialist workshop, for example aMercedes-Benz Service Centre, they can
inform you of the costs the service will incur.
ASSYST PLUS does not record any periods of
time during which the battery is disconnec-
ted. In order to maintain the time-dependent
service schedule, you should call up the
service due date and make a note of it befor
e
you disconnect the battery. The other option
is to subtract the battery-disconnection peri-
ods from the service date shown on the dis-
play.
