Make sure that the vehicle is at as tandstill
and the SmartKey is in key position H in the
ignition lock. X
Open the camera cover for cleaning via the
multimedia system (see the separate operat-
ing instructions). X
To clean the rear view camera: use clear
water and as oft cloth to clean camera
lens C .
Cleanin gt he exhaust pipes
G WARNING
The exhaust tail pipe and tail pipe trim can
become very hot. If you come into contact
with these parts of the vehicle, you could burn
yourself. There is ar isk of injury.
Always be particularly careful around the
exhaust tail pipe and the tail pipe trim. Allow
these components to cool down before touch-
ing them.
! Do not clean the exhaust pipe with acid-
based cleaning agents, such as bathroom
cleaner or wheel cleaner.
! Mercedes-AMG vehicles with black exhaust
pipes: the black-chrome tailpipe finishers
should not be polished with ac hrome polish.
They will otherwise lose their black sheen. For
optimal care, the faceplates should be rubbed
with al ightly oiled cloth after every car wash.
Commercially available engine and care oils
are suitable for this.
For heavier soiling, you can apply af ine paint-
work polish with am icrofiber cloth. Remove
the excess polish residue after polishing.
Impurities combined with the effect sofr oad grit
and corrosive environmental factors may cause
flash rust to form on the surface. You can
restore the original shine of the exhaust pipe by
cleaning it regularly ,e specially in winter and
after washing. X
Clean the exhaust pipe with ac are product
tested and approved by Mercedes-Benz. Interior care
Cleanin gt he display
! For cleaning, do not use any of the following: R
alcohol-based thinner or gasoline R
abrasive cleaning agents R
commercially-availabl eh ousehold cleaning
agents
These may damage the display surface. Do
not put pressure on the display surface when
cleaning. This could lead to irreparable dam-
age to the display. X
Before cleaning the display ,m ake sure that it
is switched off and has cooled down. X
Clean the display surface using ac ommer-
cially available microfiber cloth and TFT/LCD
display cleaner. X
Dry the display surface using ad ry microfiber
cloth.
Cleanin gt he plastic trim
G WARNING
Care products and cleaning agents containing
solvents cause surfaces in the cockpit to
become porous. As ar esult, plastic parts may
come loose in the event of air bag deploy-
ment. There is ar isk of injury.
Do not use any care products and cleaning
agents to clean the cockpit.
! Never attach the following to plastic surfa-
ces: R
stickers R
films R
perfume oil container or similar
You could otherwise damage the plastic.
! Do not allow cosmetics, insect repellent or
sunscreen to come into contact with the plas-
tic trim. This maintains the high-quality look of
the surfaces. X
Wipe the plastic trim with ad amp, lint-free
cloth, e.g. am icrofiber cloth. X
Heavy soiling: use care and cleaning prod-
ucts recommended and approved by
Mercedes-Benz.
The surface may change color temporarily.
Wait until the surface is dry again.266

increase di mpact protection to prevent vehicle
occupants fro ms uf ferin ga ci db ur ns shoul dt he
battery be damage dint he event of an accident.
In order for the battery to achieve the maximum
possibl es er vice life, it must always be suffi-
ciently charged.
Like othe rb at teries ,t he vehicl eb at tery may
discharge ove rt im eify ou do not us et he vehicle.
In thi sc ase, have the battery disconnecte data
qualified specialis tw or kshop .Y ou can also
charge the battery with ac harge rr ecommended
by Mercedes-Benz. Contact aq uali fied special-

When jump-starting, make sure that the battery pole sw ith identical polarity are connected.R

the jumper cables. R
Never connect or disconnect the battery terminal sw hile the engine is running.

Ad ischarged battery can freeze at temperatures below freezing point. When jump-starting the

Allow the frozen battery to thaw out before charging it or jump-starting.
! Avoid repeated and lengthy starting attempts. Otherwise, the catalytic converter coul db e
damaged by the non-combusted fuel.
If the indicator/warning lamp sdon ot light up in the instrument cluster at low temperatures, it is very
likel yt hat the discharged battery has frozen. In this case you may neither jump-start the vehicl en or
charge the battery .L et the battery thaw first. The service life of at hawed-out battery may be shorter.
The starting characteristics can be impaired ,p articularl yatl ow temperatures. Have the thawed-out
battery checked at aq ualified specialist workshop.
Do not start the vehicl eu sing ar api dc harging device. If you rv ehicle's battery is discharged, the
engine can be jump-started from another vehicl eorf rom as econd battery using jumper cables.
Observe the following points: R
The battery is not accessible in all vehicles. If the other vehicle's battery is not accessible ,j ump-
start the vehicl eu sing as econd battery or aj ump-starting device.R
You may only jump-start the vehicl ew hen the engine and exhaust system are cold.R
Do not start the engine if the battery is frozen. Let the battery thaw first. R
Only jump-start from batterie sw ith a12Vv oltag er ating.R
Only use jumper cables that are not damaged and have as ufficient cross-section and insulated
terminal clamps. R

Fuses
Breakdow na ssistance

Tire-mounting tools should not be used near
the valve. This could damage the electronic
components.
Only have tires changed at aq ualified spe-
cialist workshop.
Observe the instructions and safety notes in the
"Changing aw heel" section ( Y
page 307).
The wear pattern sont he front and rear tires
differ, depending on the operating conditions.
Rotate the wheels before ac lear wear pattern
has formed on the tires. Fron tt ires typically
wear more on the shoulders and the rear tires in
the center.
On vehicles that have the same size front and
rear wheels, you can rotat et he wheels accord-
ing to the intervals in the tire manufacturer's
warranty book in your vehicle documents. If no
warranty book is available, the tires should be
rotated every 3,000 to 6,000 miles (5,000 to
10,00 0k m) .D ependin gont ire wear, this may
be required earlier. Do not change the direction
of wheel rotation.
Clean the contact surfaces of the wheel and the
brake disc thoroughly every time aw heel is rota-
ted. Check the tire pressure and, if necessary,
restart the tire pressure loss warning system
(Canada only) or the tire pressure monitor (USA
only).
Direction of rotation Tires with as pecified direction of rotation have
additional benefits ,e .g. if there is ar isk of hydro-
planing. These advantages can only be gained if
the tires are installed corresponding to the
direction of rotation.
An arrow on the sidewall of the tire indicates its
correc td irection of rotation.
Storing wheels Stor ew heels that are not being used in ac ool,
dry and preferably dark place. Protec tt he tires
from oil, grease, gasoline and diesel. Mounting aw heel

Important safety notes

Fuel is highly flammable. If you handle fuel
incorrectly, there is ar isk of fire and explo-
sion.
You must avoid fire, open flames, creating
sparks and smoking. Switch off the engine
and, if applicable, the auxiliary heating before
refueling.
G WARNING
Fuel is poisonous and hazardous to health.
There is ar isk of injury.
You must make sure that fuel does not come
into contact with your skin, eyes or clothing
and that it is not swallowed. Do not inhale fuel
vapors. Keep fuel awa yf rom children.
If you or others come into contact with fuel,
observe the following: R
Wash awa yf uel from skin immediately
using soap and water. R
If fuel comes into contact with your eyes,
immediately rinse them thoroughly with
clean water. Seek medical assistance with-
out delay. R
If fuel is swallowed, seek medical assis-
tance without delay .Don ot induce vomit-
