If yo ur vehicle is accordingly equipped, you can
connect your smartphone or ano ther mobile end
device totheve hicle. You can then control them
by means of the control elements integ rated in
th eve hicle. Images and audio from the smart-
phone can be output via the multimedia system.
Cer tain information is simultaneously transfer red
to your smartphone. Depending on the type and
integ ration, this includes position data, day/night
mode and other general vehicle statuses. For
more information please consult the Owner's
Manual of theve hicle/inf otainment system. This integ
ration allo ws the use of selected smart-
phone apps, such as navigation or music pla yer
apps. There is no fu rther interaction between the
smartphone and theve hicle; in particular, vehicle
data is not directly accessible. The type of addi-
tional data processing is de term ined bythe pro-
vider of the app being used. Which settings you
can make, if an y,depends on the speci/c app and
th e operating system of your smartphone. Online ser

If yo ur vehicle has a wireless network connection,
it enables data tobe exch anged between your
ve hicle and additional systems. The wireless net-
wo rkconnection is made possible bytheve hicle's
ow n transmitter and receiver or bya mobile end
device that you ha vebrought into theve hicle, for
ex ample, a smartphone. Online functions can be
used via the wireless network connection. This
includes online services and applications/apps
pr ov ided toyouby the manufacturer or by other

Re garding the manufacturer's online services, the
individual functions are described bythe manu-
fa cturer in a suitable place, forex ample, in the
Owner's Manual or on the manufacturer's web-
site, where there leva nt data pr otection informa-
tion is also given. Personal data may be used for
th e pr ovision of online services. Data are
ex ch anged via a secure connection, such as the
manufacturer's designated IT systems. Any per-
sonal data which are collected, processed and
used, other than forth e pr ovision of services, is
done so exclusively on the basis of legal permis-
sion. This is the case, forex ample, for a legally
prescribed emer gency call system, a cont ractual
ag reement or when consent has been given.

te d. This excludes legally prescribed functions and
services, such as an emer gency call system.

th Sma rtphone Integ ration, you can use cer tain
functions on your mobile phone via the multime-
dia system displa y.
Only one mobile phone at a time can be connec-
te d via Smartphone Integ ration tothe multimedia
system. Also for use with two phone mode with
smartphone integ ration, only one additional
mobile phone can be connec ted using Blue tooth ®
with the multimedia system.
The full range of functions for Smartphone Inte-
gr ation is only possible with an Internet connec-
tion. The appropriate application must be down-
loaded on the mobile phone touse Smartphone
Integ ration. The mobile phone must be switched
on and connec tedto a USB port with theç
symbol on the multimedia system using a suitable
cable.

% For saf etyre asons, the /rst activation of
Smartphone Integ ration on the multimedia
system must be car ried out when theve hicle
is stationary and the parking brake is applied.

th e connecting cable only when theve hicle is

When using Smartphone Integ ration, cer tain vehi-
cle data is transfer redto the mobile phone. This
enables youto get the best out of selected mobile
phone services. Vehicle data is not directly acces-
sible.
The following system information is transmitted:
R SoTware release of the multimedia system
R System ID (anonymised)
The transfer of this data is used tooptimise com-
munication between theve hicle and the mobile
phone. To
do this, and toassign se veralve hicles tothe
mobile phone, a vehicle identi/er is random lyge n-
erated.
This has no connection totheve hicle identi/ca-
tion number (VIN) and is dele ted when the multi-
media system is reset (/ page 292).
The following driving status data is transmitted:
R Transmission position engaged
R Distinction between par ked, standstill, rolling
and driving
R Day/night mode of the inst rument clus ter
R Drive type
The transfer of this data is used toalter how con-

uation.
