Do not use cruise control inthefollowing situa‐tions:
RIn traffic situations whichrequire frequentchanges of speed, e.g. in heavy traffic, onwindingroads.
ROn slipperyroads.Accelerating can causethe drive wheelstolose traction andthevehicle couldthen skid.
RIfyou are driving when visibility is poor.
Operating cruise control
\nWARNINGRisk of accident duetostoredspeed
Ifyou call upthestored speed andthis islowerthanyour current speed,thevehicledecelerates.
Takeinto accountthe traffic situationbefore calling upthestored speed.
Requirements:RESP®must be activated, but not intervening.
RThe driven speed is at least15mph(20 km/h).
RThe transmission is in position [.
Toactivate cruise control:pressrockerswitch1up.
Toactivate cruise control:pressrockerswitch2up (SET/+) or down (SET/-).The current speed isstored and maintainedbythevehicle whenyoutakeyourfootoffthe accelerator pedal.

Pressrocker switch3up (RES).The laststored speed is called up and main‐tainedbythevehicle.
Ifthe laststored speed has previously beendeleted,the currently driven speed isstored.
Whenyou switchoffthevehicle,the lastspeedstored is cleared.
Toincrease/reduce speed:pressrockerswitch2up/downtothe pressure point.Thestored speed is increased orreducedby1mph (1km/h).

Pressrocker switch2beyondthe pressurepoint.Thestored speed is increased orreducedby5mph (10 km/h).

HOLD function
HOLD functionThe HOLD function holdsthevehicle at astand‐still withoutrequiringyoutodepressthe brakepedal, e.g. whilewaiting in traffic.
The HOLD function is only an aid. Theresponsi‐bilityforthevehicle safelystandingstillremainswiththe driver.
System limitationsThe HOLD function is only intendedtoprovideassistance when driving and is not a sufficientmeans of safeguardingthevehicle againstrollingawaywhenstationary.
RThe incline must not be greaterthan 30%.
Activating/deactivating the HOLD function
\nWARNINGRisk of an accident duetotheHOLD function being activated whenyouleavethevehicle
Ifyou leavethevehicle while onlythe HOLDfunction is brakingthevehicle,thevehiclecanrollawayinthefollowing situations:
RIfthere is a malfunction inthe system orinthe power supply.
RIfthe HOLD function is deactivatedbydepressingthe accelerator pedal orthebrake pedal, e.g.byavehicle occupant.
RIfthe electrics inthe engine compart‐ment,the battery orthe fuses aretam‐pered with or ifthe battery is disconnec‐ted.
Always deactivatethe HOLD functionand securethevehicle againstrollingawaybefore leavingthevehicle.
NOTEDamagefrom automatic braking
WhenActive Brake Assist,Active DistanceAssistDISTRONIC orthe HOLD function areactivated,thevehicle brakes autonomouslyin certain situations.
Toavoid damagetothevehicle, deactivatethese systems inthefollowing or similar sit‐uations:
Duringtowing
In a carwash
Requirements:RThevehicle isstationary.
RThe driver's door is closed orthe seat belt onthe driver's side isfastened.
RThe engine isrunning or has been automati‐cally switched offbythe ECOstart/stopfunction.
RThe electric parking brake isreleased.
RActive Distance AssistDISTRONIC is not acti‐vated.

Afterthe engine isrestarted, obstacles must bedetected again before a newwarning can beissued.
System limitationsThe system limitationsforParking AssistPARKTRONIC applyfor passive side impact pro‐tection.
Thefollowing objects are not detected,forexam‐ple:
RPedestrians who approachthevehicle fromthe side
RObjects placed nexttothevehicle
Deactivating/activatingParking AssistPARKTRONIC
NOTERisk of an accident from objectsat closerange
Parking AssistPARKTRONIC may not detectcertain objects at closerange.
When parking or maneuveringthevehi‐cle, pay particular attentiontoanyobjects which are aboveor belowthesensors, e.g.flower pots or drawbars.
Thevehicle orother objects couldoth‐erwise be damaged.
If indicator lamp1is not lit,Parking AssistPARKTRONIC is active. Ifthe indicator lamp is litortheésymbol appears inthe multifunctiondisplay,Parking AssistPARKTRONIC is notactive.

Depending onthevehicle's equipment,thebutton may also be located inthe centerconsole.
Parking AssistPARKTRONIC is automaticallyactivated whenthevehicle isstarted.
