Function of ABS (Anti-lock Braking System)
ABSregulatesthe brake pressure in critical drivâing situations:
RDuring braking, e.g. at full brake applicationor insufficient tire traction, the wheels areprevented from locking.
RVehiclesteerability while braking is ensured.
If ABS intervenes when braking, you willfeel apulsing inthe brake pedal. The pulsating brake
pedal can be an indication of hazardousroadconditions and can serveas aremindertotakeextra care while driving.
System limitationsRABS is active from speeds of approx. 5mph(8 km/h).
RABS may be impaired or may not function if amalfunction has occurred andtheyelâlow %ABSwarning lamp lights up continâuously inthe instrument cluster aftertheengine isstarted.
Function ofBAS (Brake Assist System)
\nWARNINGRisk of an accident causedbya malfunction inBAS (Brake AssistSysâtem)
IfBAS is malfunctioning, the braking distancein an emergency braking situation isincreased.
Depressthe brake pedal with fullforcein emergency braking situations. ABSpreventsthe wheels from locking.

doing so,you will make use ofthe engine's brakâing effect. Thisrelievesthe load onthe brakesystem and preventsthe brakes fromoverheatâing andwearingtooquickly.
Do not use cruise control inthefollowing situaâtions:
RIn traffic situations whichrequire frequentchanges of speed, e.g. in heavy traffic, onwindingroads.
ROn slipperyroads.Accelerating can causethe drive wheelstolose traction andthevehicle couldthen skid.
RIfyou are driving when visibility is poor.
Operating cruise control
\nWARNINGRisk of accident duetostoredspeed
Ifyou call upthestored speed andthis islowerthanyour current speed, thevehicledecelerates.
Takeinto accountthe traffic situationbefore calling upthestored speed.
Requirements:RESPÂźmust be activated, but not intervening.
RThe driven speed is at least15mph(20 km/h).
RThe transmission is in position [.
Toactivate cruise control:pressrockerswitch1up.
Toactivate cruise control:pressrockerswitch2up (SET/+) or down (SET/-).The current speed isstored and maintainedbythevehicle whenyoutakeyourfootoffthe accelerator pedal.
or
Pressrocker switch3up (RES).The laststored speed is called up and mainâtainedbythevehicle.
Ifthe laststored speed has previously beendeleted, the currently driven speed isstored.
Whenyou switchoffthevehicle,the lastspeedstored is cleared.
Toincrease/reduce speed:pressrockerswitch2up/downtothe pressure point.Thestored speed is increased orreducedby1mph (1km/h).
or
Pressrocker switch2beyondthe pressurepoint.Thestored speed is increased orreducedby5mph (10 km/h).

turally separateroadwaysbyActive DistanceAssistDISTRONIC, it can automaticallyfollowthevehicle in front driving off again within30 seconds. If a critical situation is detectedwhen driving off, a visual and acousticwarning isgiven indicatingthatthe driver must nowtakecontrol ofthevehicle. Thevehicle is not accelerâated any further.
Active Distance AssistDISTRONIC is only an aid.The driver isresponsibleforkeeping a safe disâtancetothevehicle in front, forvehicle speedandfor braking in good time.
System limitations
The system may be impaired or may not functioninthefollowing instances:
RIn snow, rain, fog, heavy spray, ifthere isglare, in direct sunlight or in greatlyvaryingambient light.
RThe windshield inthe area ofthe camera isdirty, fogged up, damaged or covered.
RIftheradar sensors are dirty or covered.
RIn parkinggarages or onroads withsteepuphill or downhill gradients.
RIfthere are narrowvehicles in front, such asbicycles or motorcycles.
In addition, on slipperyroads, braking or accelâerating can cause one or several wheelstolosetraction andthevehicle couldthen skid.
Do not useActive Distance AssistDISTRONIC inthese situations.
\nWARNINGRisk of accident from accelerâation or brakingbyActive DistanceAssistDISTRONIC
Active Distance AssistDISTRONIC may accelâerate or brake inthefollowing cases, forexample:
RIfthevehicle pullsawayusingActive Disâtance AssistDISTRONIC.
RIfthestored speed is called up and isconsiderablyfaster or slowerthanthecurrently driven speed.
RIfActive Distance AssistDISTRONIC nolonger detects avehicle in front or doesnotreacttorelevant objects.
Always carefully observethe traffic conâditions and bereadytobrake at alltimes.
Takeinto accountthe traffic situationbefore calling upthestored speed.
\nWARNINGRisk of accident duetoinsufâficient decelerationbyActive DistanceAssistDISTRONIC
Active Distance AssistDISTRONIC brakesyourvehicle with upto50% ofthe maximumpossible deceleration. Ifthis deceleration isnot sufficient,Active Distance AssistDISTRONIC alertsyou with a visual andacousticwarning.
Inthese cases, adjustyour speed andkeep a sufficient distance.
Brakethevehicleyourself and/ortakeevasive action.
