ARNING Risk of becoming trapped due
to the soT top lo wering unexpectedly
If yo u do not fully open/close the soT top, the
soT-top hydraulics will depressurise aTer a
short time. #
Always fully open or close the soT top. If
th e soT top has not been comple tely loc ked, the
inst rument display will show the message Open/
close soft top completely . In addition,you will
hear a warning tone for up to te n seconds while
driving. #
Stop theve hicle immediately in accordance
with the tra1c conditions. #
Make sure that theve hicle is switched on. #
Fully close the soT top using the soT- top

CAPre duces the draught in the front and rear
compartments when you are driving with the soT
to p open.
Pa rticular lyturbulent air can reduce the e.ect of
AIR CAP.This can occur when you are driving
behind ano ther vehicle or if there is a crosswind,
fo rex ample.
AIR CAP consists of thefo llowing components:
R a wind de0ector abo vethe windscreen
R a draught stop behind the two rear seat head
re straints
When AI RCAP is activated, the wind de0ector and
th e draught stop will extend simultaneousl y.AIR
CAP can be activated or deactivated at speeds
of up toappr oximately 160 km/h. &

R The vehicle is not switched on. #
Make sure that theve hicle is switched on.
R The brake pedal was not depressed with the
ve hicle stationar y. #
Depress the brake pedal.
R The boot separator is not closed. #
Remo ve ove rhanging lug gage and close the
boot separator.
R The boot lid is open. #
Close the boot lid (/ page 84). R
The soT top has been opened and closed se v-
eral times in a ro w.The soT top drive has
been switched o. automatically and will be
av ailable again aTer appr oximately ten
minutes. #
Repeat the opening or closing procedure aTer
appr oximately ten minutes.
R You are driving at a speed greater than
60 km/h. #
Reduce your speed tobelow 60 km/h.
R The soT top mechanical components or con-
trol system are defective. #

The reve rsing function does not react:
R tosoT, light and thin objects, e.g. /n gers.
R during resetting. The
reve rsing function cannot pr event some-
one from becoming trapped in these situa-
tions. #
During the closing process, make sure
th at no body parts are in the closing
area. #
If someone becomes trapped, press the
W button toopen the side window
again. A

If th e side windo wsare obstructed during auto-
matic closing, the side window concerned will
open again slightl y.ATer an other automatic clos-
ing process, the automatic function may be deac-
tivated. The automatic function will be active

Before starting the engine: adjust the
driver's seat, head restraints, stee ring
wheel and mir ror in particular and fasten
yo ur seat belt. Ensure

R You are sitting as farawa y from the driver's
airbag as possible, taking thefo llowing points
into consideration:
R You are sitting in an upright position

head restraint supports the back of the
head at about eye le vel. Do not inter
change the head restraints of the

The seat belt will not o.er the intended le vel

In particular, you may slip under the seatbelt

Always ensu rethat the seat backrest is
in an almost vertical position and that
th e shoulder section of your seat belt is
