Windowbags (Coupé)
The purpos eofthe windowbags is to enhance
the level of protection for the hea d(butn ot
chest or arms )ofthe vehicle occupants on
the sid eofthe vehicle on which the impact
occurs.
The windowbags are integrated into the side
of the roof frame. and run from the front door
(A-pillar) to the rea rsidew all( C- pillar). Windowbags
0046are deployed:
R on the sid eonwhich an impact occurs
R at the start of an accident with ahighr ate
of latera lvehicle deceleration or accelera-
tion, e.g. in asidei mpact
R independently of the sea tbeltu se
R independently of the front airbags
R regardless of whether the front-passenger
sea tiso ccupied PRE-SAFE
®
system
PRE-SAFE ®
system takes pre-emptiv emeas-
ure stop rotect yo uincertainhazardou ssit-
uations.
PRE-SAFE ®
intervenes in the event of:
R emergency braking situations, e.g. if Brake
Assis tBAS is activated or Brake Assis tBAS
PLUS* intervenes powerfully
R the radar senso rsystem detecting an
immediate danger of collision in certai nsit-
uations (on vehicles with Distroni cPlus*)
R critica lsituations involving driving dynam-
ics, e.g. if the vehicle oversteer sorunder-
steer ssignificantly du etophysica llim its
being exceeded
PRE-SAFE ®
may take the following measures
in these situations:
R it tensions the front sea tbelts.
R on vehicles with memory functions*: it
adjusts the front-passenger sea tifthis is in
an unfavourable position.
R on vehicles with multicontou rseat*: it
increases the ai rpressur einthe sea tside
cushions and the backrest sid ecushions.
R Coupé: if the vehicle skids, it closes the
panoram asliding sunroof* and the front 40

approximately 30 seconds.
i Cabriolet: in some countries the interior
motion senso risprimed eve nifthe soft top
is open. Th evehicl eshoul donlybep arked
with the soft top closed, however ,topre-
vent insects or falling leaves ,for example,
fro mc ausing fals ealarm s.
Deactivatin gthe interior motion sensor When yo
uunlock your vehicl ewitht he key or
KEYLESS-GO* ,the interior motion senso ris
automaticall ydeactivated.
To prevent afalse alarm, deactivate the inte-
rior motion senso rifyoulock your vehicle
and:
R people or animals remai ninthe vehicle
R the side windows remai nopen
R Coupé: the panorama sliding sunroof*
remains opened. X
Remov ethe key fro mthe ignition lock.
X Press button 0046.
Indicator lamp 0047flashe sbriefly.

The blower continues runnin gfor seven
seconds to cool down the heating ele-
ments.
i If the battery voltage is too low, the AIR-
SCARF neck-level heating may switch off. Seat ventilation*
The three blue indicator lamps in the button
indicate the ventilation level you have selec-
ted. X
Make sure that the key is in position 1or
2 in the ignition lock.
X To switch on: press button0046repeatedly
until the required ventilation level is set.
i If you open the side windows and the pan-
orama sliding sunroof* using the key
(Y page 96), the driver's seat ventilation
automatically switches to the highest level.
X To switch off: press button0046repeatedly
until all indicator lamps go out.
i If the battery voltage is too low, the seat
ventilation may switch off. Seat heating*
The three red indicator lamps in the button
indicate the heating level you have selected. i
The system automatically switches down
from level 3to level 2after approximately
eight minutes.
The system automatically switches down
from level 2to level 1after approximately
ten minutes.
The system automatically switches off
approximately 20 minutes after it is set to
level 1.
X Make sure that the key is in position 1or
2 in the ignition lock.
X To switch on: press button0046repeatedly
until the desired heating level is set.
X To switch off: press button0046repeatedly
until all indicator lamps go out.
i If the battery voltage is too low, the seat
heating may switch off. Steering wheel
Points to remember

adjust the steerin gwheel either manually or

sk of injury
The electrically adjustable steerin gwheel*
can be adjusted when the key is removed
from the ignition lock. Therefore, do not leave
children unsupervised in the vehicle as they
could become trapped as the steerin gwheel

When you lock the vehicle, you can simulta-
neously:
R close the side windows
R close the panorama sliding sunroof*
On vehicles with apanorama sliding sun-
roof*, you can then close the roller sunblind. G
Risk of injury
When using the convenienc eclosing feature,
make sure that nobody can become trapped.
Proceed as follows if there is arisk of entrap-
ment:
With the key:
R release the 0037button.
R press and hold the 0036button until the
side windows and the panorama sliding
sunroof* open again.
With KEYLESS GO*:
R release the sensor surface on the door han-
dle.
R pull the door handle immediately and hold
it.
The side windows and the panorama sliding
sunroof* open.
Using the key X
Point the tip of the key at the driver's door
handle.
X Lock the vehicle with the 0037button.
X Press and hold the 0037button until the
side windows and the panorama sliding
sunroof* are fully closed.
X Make sure that all the side windows and the
panorama sliding sunroof* are closed.
On vehicles with apanorama sliding sun-
roof*:
X Press and hold the 0037button again until
the roller sunblind of the panorama sliding
sunroof* closes.
Using KEYLESS GO* X
Touch the sensor surface on door han-
dle 0046until the side windows and the pan-
orama sliding sunroof* are fully closed.
i Make sure you only touch sensor sur-
face 0046.
X Make sure that all the side windows and the
panorama sliding sunroof* are closed.
On vehicles with apanorama sliding sun-
roof*:
X Touch the sensor surface on door han-
dle 0046again until the roller sunblind of the
panorama sliding sunroof* closes. Side windows
