Folding the front seat backrest forw ards/
back
Wi th th e EASY-ENTRY function, the seat mo ves
fo rw ards if you ha vefolded the seat backrest
fo rw ards. This makes it easier for passengers to
ge t into and out of there ar passenger compart‐
ment of theve hicle.
Ve hicles with the memory function
#To fold forw ards: pull seat release handle
1 and fold the seat backrest forw ards as far
as it will go.
The seat mo ves automatically tothefo re ‐
most position.
#To fold back: swing back the seat backrest
horizon tally.
If th e seat backrest is not engaged, this will
be shown on the multifunction display on the
instrument clus ter.A wa rning tone also
sounds.
The seat mo ves automatically tothestored
position.
If th e pr evious seat position can no longer be
set, forex ample because of luggage in there ar
passenger compartment foot we ll or af ter occu‐
pants ha veentered there ar passenger compart‐
ment of theve hicle:
#Pull seat release handle 1again and return
th e seat backrest toan upright position.
The seat loc ksinthe new fore -and-aft adjust‐
ment position.

edly switching on the seat heater
Re peatedly switching on the seat heater can
cause the seat cushion and seat backrest
padding tobecome very hot.
The health of persons with limited temp era‐
ture sensitivity or a limited ability toreact to
exc essively high temp eratures may be af fec‐
te d or they may even suf fer burn-like injuries.
#Do not repeatedly switch on the seat
heater.

are not engaged
If th ere ar bench seat/rear seat and seat
backrest are not engaged they could fold for‐
wa rds, e.g. when braking suddenly or in the
ev ent of an accident.
RIfth is is the case, theve hicle occupant
wo uld beforc ed into the seat belt bythe
re ar bench seat/rear seat or bythe seat
backrest. The seat belt cann otprotect as
intended and could result in additional
injur y.
RObjects or loads in the trunk cannot be
re stra ined bythe seat backrest.
#Make sure that the seat backrest and
th ere ar bench seat/rear seat are
engaged before everytrip.
Re quirement:RThe rear seat backrest head restra ints are
fully inse rted.
The center and outer seat backrests can be fol‐
ded forw ards separatel y.

damaged when folding back the seat back‐
re st.
#Make sure that the seat belt is not trap‐
ped when folding back the seat back‐
re st.

until it engages.
Left and right seat backrests: ifth e seat
backrest is not engaged and loc ked, this will
be shown in the multifunction display in the
instrument clus ter.
Center seat backres t:ifth e seat backrest is
not engaged and loc ked, red lock verification
indicator 2will be visible.

Lockingthe center rear seat backrest
Lock the center seat backrest if youwa ntto
secure the cargo compartment from unauthor‐
ized access. The center seat backrest can then
only be folded forw ard toget her with the left seat
backrest.
Bo th seat backrests must be engaged and joined
to ge ther.#Fo ldthe center and left seat backrest
fo rw ard.
#To lock: slide catch 1upwards.
The release mechanism of the center seat
backrest is loc ked.
