multifunction displa y.

shif ter2 and hold it in place.

Gears hiftrecommendation
The gearshift recommendations assist youin
adopting an economical drivingst yle.
#If ge arshift recommendation message 1is
shown in the multifunction displa y,shift to
th ere commended gear.
Using kickdow n
#Maximum acceleration: depressthe accel‐
erator pedal be yond the pressure point.
During kickdown, you cannot shift gears using
th esteering wheel paddle shif ters. The au to‐
matic transmission shifts up tothe next gear
when the maximum engine speed is reached to
pr otect the engine from overrev ving.
#Ease off the accelera tor pedal once the
desired speed is reached.
Glide mode function
Wi th an anticipatory driving style, glide mode
helps youto reduce fuel consum ption.
Glide mode is characterized bythefo llowing:
RThe combustion engine is disconnected from
th e driv etra in and theve hicle continues to
ro ll in neut ral.
RThe transmission position his displa yed in
green in the multifunction displa y.
Glide mode is activated if thefo llowing condi‐
tions are me t:
RDrive program Eis selected.
RThe speed is wi thin a suitable range.
RThe cours e ofthero ad is suitable, e.g. no
st eep uphill or downhill gradients or tight
bends.
RYo u are no longe r depressingthe accelera tor
or brake pedal.

Glide mode is deactivated again if one of the
conditions is no longer met.
Ve hicles with Driving Assistance Package,
Di stance Pilot DISTRONIC or Active Brake
Assi st:Glide mode is also deacti vated depend‐
ing on the traf fic situation and theve hicle then
switches toove rrun mode. This fur ther reduces
fuel consum ption.

Fu els are highly inflammable.
#You must avoidfire , open flames, creat‐
ing spar ksand smoking.
#Before refueling, switch off the engine
and, if ins talled in your vehicle, thest a‐
tionary heater.
& WARNING Risk of injury from fuel
Fu els are poisonous and harmful to your
health
#Do not sw allow fuel or let it come into
contact with skin, eyes or clo thing.
#Do not inhale fuel vapors.
#Ke ep children away from fuel.
If yo u or other people come into contact with
fuel, obser vethefo llowing:
#Immediately rinse fuel off your skin with
soap and water.
#If fuel comes into contact with your
ey es, immediately rinse them thor‐
oughly with clean water.Seek medical
attention immediately.
#If yo u sw allow fuel, seek medical atten‐
tion immediatel y.Do not induce vomit‐
ing.
#Change immediately out of clo thing that
has come into con tact wi thfuel.

to electros tatic charge
Electros tatic charge can cause spark s and
th ereby ignite fuel vapors.

before opening the fuel filler cap or
to uching the pump nozzle.
This dischar ges any electros tatic charge that
may ha vebuilt up.

Standby mode (extension of the star ter bat‐
te ry 's period out of use)
St andby mode function
If standby mode is activated, theve hicle can be
par kedfo r an extended pe riod of time without
losing po wer.
St andby mode is characterized bythefo llowing:
Rth est ar ter battery is preser ved.
Rthe maximum period out of use is displa yed
in the multimedia sy stem displa y.
Rfunctions such as interior pr otection or the
to w- aw ay alarm are not available.
Rthe connection toonline services is inter rup‐
te d.
If th efo llowing conditions are fulfilled, standby
mode can be activated or deactivated using the
multimedia sy stem:
Rth e engine is switched off.
RThe ignition is switched on.
Exceeding theve hicle's displa yed period out of
use may cause incon venience, i.e. it cannot be guaranteed
that thest ar ter battery will reliably
st art the engine.
The star ter battery must be charge dfirs t in the
fo llowing situations:
Rth eve hicle's period out of use must be
ex tended.
