Changing the windshield wiper blades

WARNING Risk of becoming trapped if
th e windshield wipers are switched on
while wiper blades are being replaced
If th e windshield wipers begin tomo vewhile
yo u are changing the wiper blades, you can
be trapped bythe wiper arm.
#Alw ays switch off the windshield wipers
and the ignition before changing the
wiper blades.
Moving the wiper arms toave rtical position
#Set the windshield wiper tothe° slow
continuous wiping position on the combina‐
tion switch.
#As soon as the wiper arms are vertical rela‐
tive tothe hood, switch off the ignition.
#Fo ldthe wiper arm away from the windshield. Re
moving the wiper blades
#Hold the wiper arm with one hand. With th e
ot her hand, turn the wiper blade in the direc‐
tion of ar row1away from the wiper arm to
th estop.
#Slide catch 2inthe direction of ar row 3
until it engages in there mo val position.

#When opening the cap, wearglove s and

#Slowly turn the cap half a turn toallow
pressure toescape.

#Check the coolant temp erature display in the
instrument clus ter.
The coolant temp erature must be below
15 8 °F (70 °C).
#Slowly turn cap 1counter-clockwise to
re lie ve ove rpressure.
#Continue turning cap 1counter-clockwise
and remo veit.
The coolant le vel is cor rect:
RIfth e engine is cold, up tomar ker bar 2
RIfth e engine is warm, up to0.6 in (1.5 cm)

If yo u open the hood when the engine has
ove rheated or during a fire inthe engine
compartment, you could come into contact
wit h hot gases or other escaping operating

Ha ve the coolant regularly changed at a qualified

The proportion of cor rosion inhibitor/antifreeze
concentrate in the engine cooling sy stem should
be:
RA minimum of 50% (antifreeze pr otection
down toappr oximately -35 °F (-37 °C)).
RA maximum of 55% (antifreeze pr otection
down to-49 °F (-45 °C)).
