If
th e system de tects that the driver has not
steered theve hicle for a considerable period of
time or has remo vedth eir hands from the steering
wheel, display 1appears. If the driver still does
not steer theve hicle, a warning tone sounds in
addition tothe visual warning message.
If th e driver does not react tothewa rning for a
considerable period, the system can initiate an
emer gency stop (/ page 206).
If th e driver steers, no warning is issued, or the
wa rning is ended.
If Ac tive Steering Assist de tects that a system
limit has been reached, a visual warning is issued
and a warning tone sounds. Obser
vethe no tes on driving systems and your
re sponsibility; you may otherwise failto recognise
dangers (/ page 184).

Ac tive Steering Assist has a limited steering tor-
qu efo r lateral guidance. In some cases, the steer-
ing inter vention is not su1cient tokeep theve hi-
cle in the lane or todrive thro ugh exits.
The system may be impaired or may not function
in thefo llowing instances:
R There is poor visibility, e.g. due tosno w,rain,
fo g, heavy spr ay,gr eatly varying light condi-
tions or strong shadow s onthe car riag ewa y.
R There is glare, e.g. from oncoming tra1c,
di re ct sunlight or re0ections.
R Insu1cient road illumination.
R The windscreen is dirty, mis ted up, damaged
or co vered in the vicinity of the camera, e.g.
by a stic ker.
R No, or se veral, unclear lane markings are pres-
ent for one lane, or the markings change
qu ickl y,forex ample, in a construction area or
junctions. R
The lane markings are wornawa y,dark or co v-
ered up, e.g. bydirt or sno w.
R Ifth e distance totheve hicle in front is too
short and thus the lane markings cannot be
de tected.
R The road is nar row and winding.
R There are obs tacles on the lane or projecting
out into the lane, such as object mar kers.
The system does not pr ovide assistance in thefo l-
lowing conditions:
R On tight bends and when turning.
R When crossing junctions.
R Atroundabouts or toll stations.
R When towing a trailer.
R When the tyre pressure is too lo w. &

If th e system limits of Active Steering Assist
are reached there is no guarantee that the
system will remain active or will keep theve hi-

Blind Spot Assist is not operational when reve rse
ge ar is engaged.
Blind Sp otAssist and theex itwa rning are not

cle and the electrical connection has been cor-
re ctly es tablished.

If Ac tive Blind Spot Assist de tects a risk of a side
impact in the monitoring range, a cou rse-cor rect-
ing brake application is car ried out. This is
designed tohelp youavo id a collision. The course-cor
recting brake application is availa-
ble in the speed range between app roximately
30 km/h and 200 km/h. &

Always steer, brake or accelerate your-
self, especially if Active Blind Spot Assist
wa rnsyo u or makes a course-cor recting
brake application. #
Always maintain a safe dis tance at the
sides. If a course-cor
recting brake application occurs,
th ere dwa rning lamp 0ashes in the outside mir ror
and a warning tone sounds. In addition, display
1 indicating the danger of a side collision
appears in the Instrument Displa y.
In rare cases, the system may make an inappro-
priate brake application. This brake application
may be inter rupted at any time if you steer slightly
in the opposite direction or accelerate.

No tethe system limitations of Active Blind Spot
Assist; you may otherwise not recognise the dan-
ge rs ( / page 213).
Either a course-cor recting brake application
appropriate tothe driving situation, or none at all,
may occur in thefo llowing situations:
R Vehicles or obs tacles, e.g. crash bar riers, are
located on bo thsides of your vehicle.
R Ave hicle approaches too closely on the side.
R You ha veadop ted a sporty driving style with
high cornering speeds.

Ac tive Lane Keeping Assist monitors the area in
front of your vehicle bymeans of the multifunction
camera (/ page 185). It ser vesto protect you
against unintentionally leaving your lane. You will be
warned byvibration pulses in the steering
wheel and guided bya course-co rrecting brake
application back into your lane.
Ac tive Lane Keeping Assist is available in the
speed range between 60 km/h and 200 km/h.
Ac tive Lane Keeping Assist can neither reduce the
ri sk of an accident if youfa ilto adapt your driving
style nor override the la wsof ph ysics. It cannot
ta ke into account road, weather or tra1c condi-
tions. Active Lane Keeping Assist is only an aid.
Yo u are responsible for maintaining a safe dis-
ta nce totheve hicle in front, forve hicle speed, for
braking in good time and for st aying in lane.
The status of Active Lane Keeping Assist is dis-
pla yed in the on-board computer:
R Ã (gre en): Active Lane Keeping Assist is
active and operating.
R Ã (gre y): Active Lane Keeping Assist is
active but not operating.
R ·: Active Lane Keeping Assist is deactiva-
te d or there is a malfunction. If a lane-cor
recting brake application occurs, dis-
play 1appears in the Instrument Displa y.
The system does not app lythe brake if you acti-
va te the turn signal indicator.

If yo u deactivate theAc tive Lane Keeping Assist
wa rning and the lane markings cannot be clear ly
de tected, it is possible that no lane-cor recting
brake application take s place (/ page 218).
The system may be impaired or may not function

re ve rsing camera is displa yed in the media display
when reve rsege ar is selected. Dynamic guide
lines show the path theve hicle will take with the
cur rent steering angle. This helps youto orient
yo urself and toavo id obstacles when reve rsing.
The reve rsing camera is only an aid. It is not a
substitute foryo ur attention tothe sur roundings.
The responsibility for safe manoeuvring and par k-
ing remains with you. Make sure that there are no
persons, animals or objects etc., in the manoeu-
vring area while manoeuvring and parking.
The guide lines in the media display show the dis-
ta nces toyour vehicle. The dis tances displa yed
only apply toroad le vel.

The reve rsing camera will not function or will only
partially function in thefo llowing situations:
R The boot lid is open.
R The weather conditions are poor, e.g. heavy
ra in, sno w,fog, storm or spr ay.
R The light conditions are poo r,e.g. at night.
R Cameras, or vehicle components in which the
cameras are /tted, are damaged, dirty or co v-
ered. Obser vethe information on vehicle sen-
sors and cameras (/ page 185).
% Do not use there ve rsing camera in these
types of situations. You could otherwise injure
ot hers or collide with objects when parking
th eve hicle. %
The cont rast of the display may be impaired
by direct sunlight or by other light sources,
e.g. when driving out of a garage . In this case,
pay particular attention.
% Have the display repaired or replaced if, for
ex ample, pixel er rors considerably restrict its

The 360° Camera is a system that consists of
fo ur cameras which co verth e immediate sur-
ro undings of theve hicle. The system assists you
when you are parking or at exits with reduced visi-
bility, forex ample.
The vie wsofthe 360° Camera are alw aysav aila-
ble when driving forw ards up toa speed of
appr ox. 16 km/h and when reve rsing.
The 360° Camera is only an aid and may show a
distor ted view of obstacles, show them incor rectly
or not show them at all. It is not a substitute for
yo ur attention tothe sur roundings. The responsi-
bility for safe manoeuvring and parking remains
with you. Make sure that there are no persons, animals or objects
etc., in the manoeuvring area
while manoeuvring and parking.
