and assists you in achieving the most economi‐
cal driving style.

Ve hicles with a 48 V on-board electrical sys‐
te m (EQ Boo sttech nology):
ECO Assist analyses data forth eve hicle's expec‐
te dro ute. This allo wsthe sy stem tooptimally
adjust the driving style fo rth ero ute ahead, sa ve
fuel and recuperate. If the sy stem de tects an
eve nt ahead, e.g. a speed limitation or a round‐
about, it appears on the multifunction display

Maximum acceleration: depress the accel‐
erator pedal be yond the pressure point.
During kickdown, you cannot shift gears using
th esteering wheel gearshift paddles. The auto‐
matic transmission shifts up tothe next gear
when the maximum engine speed is reached to
pr otect the engine from overrev ving. #
Ease off the accelera tor pedal once the
desired speed is reached. Glide mode function

Wi th an anticipatory driving style, glide mode
helps youto reduce fuel consum ption. Glide mode is
characterised bythefo llowing:
R the combustion engine is disconnected from
th e drive train and theve hicle continues to
ro ll in neut ral.
R the transmission position his displa yed in
green in the multifunction displa y.
R Vehicles with a 48 V electrical sy stem
(EQ-Boost tech nology): the combustion
engine is switched off depending on the driv‐
ing situation. All of theve hicle functions
re main active.
Glide mode is activated if thefo llowing condi‐
tions are me t:
R drive program Eis selected.
R the speed is within a suitable range.
R the course of thero ad is suitable, e.g. no
st eep uphill or downhill gradients or tight
bends.
R there is no trailer coupled tothe ball coupling
of the trailer tow hit ch, and no bicycle rack
fi tted.
R you are no lon ger depressing the accelerator
or brake pedal. %
Glide mode can also be activated if you ha ve
selected the "Eco" setting forth e drive
(engine management) when in drive program
I.
Glide mode is deactivated again if one of the
conditions is no longer met.

Brake Assi st:Glide mode is also deacti vated

the engine oil le vel using the oil
dip stick &

Cer tain component parts in the engine com‐
partment may be very hot, e.g. the engine,
th era diator and parts of theex haust sy stem. #
Let the engine cool down and only
to uch the component parts described

the engine, the oil dipstick may be
ins talled in the engine compartment in dif fere nt
locations.
Wa iting time before checking the oil le vel:
R engine at normal operating temp erature: five
minutes. #
Park theve hicle on a flat sur face. #
Remo veoil dipstick 1and wipe off. #
Slowly slide oil dipstick 1into the guide
tube tothestop, and take it out again af ter
appr oximately thre e seconds.

Checking the engine oil le vel with an on-
board computer
The engine oil le vel can be checked using the on-
board computer forth efo llowing models:
R E 200 d, E 220 d, E 220 d 4MATIC
R E 300 d, E 300 de, E 350 d
R E 400 d, E 400 d 4MATIC
The engine oil le vel is de term ined during driving.
The oil le vel display is only available af ter a driv‐
ing time of up to30 minutes and if the ignition is
switched on, depending on the driving profile.
It is not possible tocor rectly measu rethe oil
le ve l if:
R theve hicle is not le vel during the measure‐
ment process.
R the bonn etwa s pr eviously opened. 310

in li mp-home mode
When driving in emergency mode the han‐
dling characteristics are impaired. e.g. when
cornering, when accelerating stronglyand
when braking. #
Do not exceed the specified maximum
speed. #
Avoid any abrupt steering and driving
manoeuvres as well as driving over
obs tacles (kerbs, pot holes, off-road).
This applies, in pa rticular, toa loaded
ve hicle. #
Stop driving in the emer gency mode if

The defective tyre must be replaced in
eve rycase. Wi
th MOExtended tyres (run-flat tyres), you can
continue todrive your vehicle even if there is a
tot al loss of pressure in one or more tyres. How‐
eve r,th e tyre af fected must not show any clearly
visible damage.
Yo u can recognise MOExtended tyres bythe
MOExtended marking which appears on the side
wa ll of the tyre.
Ve hicles with tyre pressure loss warning sys‐
te m: MOExtended tyres may only be used in
conjunction wi than activated tyre pressure loss
wa rning sy stem.
Ve hicles with tyre pressure monitoring sys‐
te m: MOExtended tyres may only be used in
conjunction wi than activated tyre pressure mon‐
