Anti-theft protection
Fu nction of the immobilizer
The immobilizer pr events your vehicle from being
st ar ted without the cor rect SmartK ey.
The immobilizer is automatically activated when
th e ignition is switched off and deactivated when
th e ignition is switched on.
When leaving theve hicle, alw aysta ke the Smart‐
Ke ywit hyo u and lock theve hicle. An yone can
st art the engine if a valid SmartK eyhas been left
inside theve hicle.
% Ifth eeve ntthat the engine cannot bestar‐
te d (y ettheve hicle's battery is charge d), the
sy stem is not operational. Contact an
authorized Mercedes-Benz Center or call
1-800-FO R-MERCedes (in the USA) or
1-800-387-0 100 (in Canada).
ATA (anti-theft alarm system)
Fu nction of theATA system (anti-theft ala rm
sy stem)
If th eATA system is armed, a visual and audible
alarm is triggered in thefo llowing situations:
RA door is opened.
RThe tailgate is opened.
RThe hood is opened.
The ATA system is armed automatically af ter
appr oximately 10seconds:
RAfter locking theve hicle with the SmartK ey.
RAf ter locking theve hicle using KEYLESS-GO.
When theATA system is armed, indicator lamp
1 flashes.
The ATA sy stem is automatically deactivated:
RAf ter unlocking theve hicle with the Smart‐
Ke y.
RAfter pressing thest art/ stop button with the
SmartK eyinside theve hicle.

Exterior lighting
Lighting systems and your responsibility
The various lighting sy stems of theve hicle are
only aids. The driver of theve hicle is responsible
fo r cor rect vehicle illumination in accordance
with the pr evailing light and visibility conditions,
legal requirements and traf fic situation.

When low beam is activated, the indicator lamp
fo rth e parking lights is deactivated and replaced
by the low beam indicator lamp.
Alw ays park your vehicle safely and in a well-lit
area, in accordance with there leva nt le galst ipu‐
lations.

th est anding lights
Operating thest anding lights over a period of
hours puts a stra in on the batter y.
#Where possible, switch on the
ri ght X or left Wparking light.
Inthe case of se vere battery discharging, the
parking lights or standing lights are automati‐
cally switch ed offtofacilitate a futu reengine
st art.

#Beforestarting the engine: adjust the
driver's seat, the head restra int, the
st eering wheel or the mir ror and fasten
yo ur seat belt.

WARNING Risk of accident due tomis‐
judgment of dis tances when using the
passenger mir ror
The outside mir ror on the front passenger
side reflects objects on a smaller scale. The
objects in view are in fact closer than they
appear.
As a result, you may misjud gethe dis tance
between you and thero ad user driving
behind you, forex ample, when changing
lanes.
#Therefore, alw ays look over your shoul‐
der inorder toensure that you are
aw are of the actual dis tance between
yo u and thero ad users driving behind
yo u.
#To fold in or out: brieflypress button 1.
% Ifth e battery has been disconnected or com‐
ple tely discharged ,th e outside mir rors must
be reset. Only then will the automatic mir ror
fo lding function workproperly.
#To adjus t:select therequ ired mir ror using
button 3or4.
#Use button 2toset the position of the mir‐
ro ryo u ha veselected.
An outside mir ror which has been pushed out of
position can be engaged in position again in the
fo llowing manner:
#Press and hold button 1.
Yo u will hear a click and the mir ror audibly
engage in position. The mir ror is set in the
cor rect position.
Au tomatic anti-glare mir rors

WARNING Risk of burn s and poisoning
due tothe anti- glare mir ror electrolyte
Electrolyte may escape if theglass in an
automatic anti-glare mir ror breaks.
The electrolyte is harmful and causes ir rita ‐
tion. It must not come into contact wi thyour
skin, eyes,respiratory organs or clo thing or
be swallo wed.

Flammable materials brought in byeither ani‐
mals or environmen tal influences may ignite
if th ey come into contact wi thhot parts of
th e engine or exhaust sy stem.

are no flammable materials in the
engine compartment or on theex haust
sy stem.

Cooling or heating theve hicle interior before
st arting the journey
If yo ustart theve hicle via your smartphone, the
pr ev iously selecte d air conditioning adjustment
is active.

fo ur we eks, the battery may become damaged.
If yo u lea vetheve hicle par kedfo r longer than six
we eks, it may suf fer dama geas a result of lack
of use.

St andby mode (extension of the star ter bat‐
te ry 's period out of use)
St andby mode function
If standby mode is activated, theve hicle can be
par kedfo r an extended pe riod of time without
losing po wer.
St andby mode is characterized bythefo llowing:

Rthe maximum period out of use is displa yed
in the multimedia sy stem displa y.
Rfunctions such as interior pr otection or tow-
aw ay protection are not available.
Rthe connection toonline services is inter rup‐
te d.
If th efo llowing conditions are fulfilled, standby
mode can be activated or deactivated using the
multimedia sy stem:
Rth e engine is switched off.
Rthe ignition is switched on.
Exceeding theve hicle's displa yed period out of
use may cause incon venience, i.e. it cannot be guaranteed
that thest ar ter battery will reliably
st art the engine.
The star ter battery must be charge dfirs t in the
fo llowing situations:
Rth eve hicle's period out of use must be
ex tended.
