1, 000 miles (1,500 km):
RDrive at varying road speeds and engine
speeds.
RDrive in drive program Cor E.
RMo veup a gear before theta ch ome ter nee‐
dle is Ôofthewa yto there d area of the
ta ch ome ter.
RDo not shi ftdown a gear manually in order to
brake.
RAv oid overstraining theve hicle, e.g. driving at
full thro ttle.
RDo not depress the accelera tor pedal past
th e pressure point (kickdown).
ROnly increase the engine speed gradually and
accelera tetheve hicle tofull speed af ter
1, 000 miles (1,500 km).
This also applies when the engine or parts of the
driv etra in ha vebeen replaced.

no tes:
RIn cer tain driving and driving saf etysy stems,
th e sensors adjust automatically while a cer‐
ta in dis tance is being driven af terth eve hicle
has been delivered or af terre pairs. Full sys‐
te m ef fectiveness is not achie ved until the
end of this teach-in process.
RBrake linings, brake discs and tires that are
either new or ha vebeen replaced only ach‐
ie ve optimum braking ef fect and grip af ter
se veral hundred kilom eters of driving. Com‐
pensate forth ere duced braking ef fect by
applying greaterfo rc eto the brake pedal.

Objects in the driver's foot we ll may impede
pedal tra vel or block a depressed pedal.
This jeopardizes the operating and road
saf etyof theve hicle.
#Stow all objects in theve hicle securely
so that they cannot getinto the driver's

#Ensure floor mats and carpets cannot
slip and pr ovide suf ficient room forth e
pedals.
#Do not lay multiple floor mats or car‐
pets on top of one ano ther.

sonous exhaust gases
If th eta ilpipe is bloc ked or suf ficient ventila‐
tion is not possible, poisonous exhaust gases
such as carbon monoxide may enter theve hi‐
cle. This is the case if theve hicle getsst uck
in snow ,fo rex ample.
#Ke ep theta ilpipe and the area around
th eve hicle free from snow when the
engine or thest ationary heater are run‐
ning.
#Open a window on the windward side of
th eve hicle toensure an adequate sup‐
ply of fresh air.
& WARNING Risk of accident and injury
due tobeing under the influence of alco‐
hol and drugs while driving
Driving when under the influence of alcohol
and/or drugs is an extreme lydangerous
combination. Even small quantities of alcohol
or drugs may af fect your reflexe s, perception
and judgment.

The probability of a serious oreven fata l acci‐
dent greatly inc reases if youdriv e when
under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
#Do not drink alcohol or take drugs while
driving, and do not allow an yone to

when driving, the brake sy stem may over‐
heat.
This increases the braking dis tance and the
brake sy stem may evenfa il.

accelerator pedal at the same time
while driving.

The engine is not running smoot hly and is
misfiring.
Non-combus ted fuel may get into the cata‐
lytic con verter.

Limited braking ef fect on salt-treate dro ads:
Rdue tosalt build-up on the brake discs and
brake lining, the braking dis tance can
increase conside rably or result in braking
only on one side.
Rmaintain a much greater dis tance totheve hi‐
cle in front.
To preve nt salt build-up:
Rbrake occasionally while paying attention to
th e tra ffic conditions.
Rcarefully depress the brake pedal at the end
of the journey and when starting the next
journe y.

Opera tion of the ECO start/s top function
Mercedes -AMG vehicles: make sure that you

The engine is au tomatical lyswitched off if the

transmission position hori.
RIf all vehicle conditions for an au tomatic
engine stop are met.

The engine is restar ted automatically if:
RYo ure lease the brake pedal with the trans‐
mission in position hwhen the HOLD func‐
tion is not active.
RYo u shift from transmission position j.

RAn automatic engine start is necessar y.
If th e engine was switched off bythe ECO start/
st op function and you lea vetheve hicle, a warn‐

tion hork, theve hicle may accelerate
sharply.

Use the DIRECT SELECT le verto shift the trans‐
mission position. The cur rent transmission posi‐
tion is displ ayed in the multifunction displa y.

conditions is no longer met. Ve
