Make surethatallthe side windows are
closed.
X Make surethatallthe side windows andthe
panorama roofwith power tilt/sliding panel
are closed.
On vehicles withapanorama roofwith power
tilt/sliding panel:
X Touch recessed sensorsurface 0043onthe
door handle againuntiltheroller sunblind of
the panorama roofwith power tilt/sliding
panel closes.
X To interru ptconven ienceclosing:release
recessed sensorsurface 0043onthe door
handle. Resetting
theside window s
If aside window cannolonger beclosed fully,
you must reset it. X
Close allthe doors.
X Turn theSmartK eytoposition 0047or0048 in
the ignition lock(Ypage 125).
X Pull thecorresponding switchonthe door
cont rolpanel untiltheside window iscom-
pletely closed(Ypage 84).
X Hold theswitch foranadditional second.
If the side window opensagainslightly:
X Immediately pullthecorresponding switch
on the door controlpanel untiltheside win-
dow iscompletely closed(Ypage 84).
X Hold theswitch foranadditional second.
X Ifthe respective sidewindow remains
closed afterthebutton isreleased, thenit
has been setcorrect ly.Ifthis isnot the
case, repeat thesteps above. Problems

WARNING
If you close aside window againimmediately afterithas been blocked, theside window closes
with increased ormaximum force.Thereversing functionisthen notactive. Partsofthe body
could betrapped inthe closing areainthe process. Thisposes anincreased riskofinjury or
even fatalinjury.
Make surethatnoparts ofthe body areinthe closing area.Tostop theclosing process,
release theswitch orpush theswitch againtoreopen theside window. 86

Only
open thesliding sunroof ifit is free of
snow andice.Otherwise, malfunctions may
occur.
Do not allow anything toprotrude fromthe
sliding sunroof. Otherwise, theseals could
be damage d.
! The
weather canchange abruptly .It could
start torain orsnow. Makesurethatthe
sliding sunroof isclosed whenyouleave the
vehicle. Thevehicle electronics canbedam-
aged ifwater enters thevehicle interior.
i Resonance
noisescanoccur inaddition to
the usua lairflow noiseswhenthesliding
sunroof isopen. Theyarecaused byminor
pressure fluctuations inthe vehicle interior.
Change theposition ofthe sliding sunroof or
open aside window slightlytoreduce or
eliminate thesenoises. Sliding
sunroof reversing feature
In the followi ngsection, theterm "slidingsun-
roof" refers tothe panorama roofwith power
tilt/sliding panel.
The sliding sunroof isequip pedwith anauto-
matic reversing feature.Ifasolid object blocks
or restrict sthe sliding sunroof duringtheclos-
ing process, thesliding sunroof opensagain
automaticall y.However, theautomatic revers-
ing feature isonly anaid and does notrelieve
you ofthe responsibili tyof payi ngattent ion
when closing thesliding sunroof. G
WARNING
The reverse function doesnotreact inpar-
ticular:
R to soft, lightandthin objects, e.g.fingers
R over thelast 1/6 in(4 mm) ofthe closing
path
R while adjusting
R when closing thesliding sunroof again
manuall yimmediately afterautomatic
reversing
This means thatthereversing featurecan-
not prevent someone beingtrapped inthese
situations. Thereisarisk ofinjury.
Make surethatnobody parts areinclose
proximity duringtheclosing procedure. If
somebody becomestrapped:
R release thebutton immediately ,or
R briefly pushthebutton inany direction
during automatic closing.
The closing process isstopped. G
WARNING
If you close thesliding sunroof againimme-
diately afterithas been blocked orreset,
the sliding sunroof closeswithincreased
force.
Parts ofthe body could betrapped inthe
closing areainthe process. Thereisarisk of
injury orbecoming trapped.
Make surethatnoparts ofthe body arein
the closing area.
If somebody becomestrapped:
R release thebutton immediately ,or
R briefly pushthebutton inany direction
during automatic closing.

the automatic reversingfeature. The

SmartK eybattery isdischarged ornearly discharged.
X Check theSmartK eybattery (Ypage 72)and replace itifneces-
