The function is automatically deactivated under
th efo llowing conditions:
R Atspeeds abo ve100 km/h af ter activation.
R When there ar fog light is switched off.
% The enhanced fog light function can be acti‐
va ted up toa speed of 100 km/h byswitch‐
ing on there ar fog light.
Fu nction of the off-road light
The off- road light impr oves illumination during
off-road driving. The low beam is distributed
symmetrically and across a wide angle, and
brightness is increased slightl y.This makes it
easier tofind your wa y when driving off- road and
to detect obs tacles at an ea rly st age. The active
headlamps function is deactivated during this
time so that steering mo vements do not change
th e illumination.
The function is active when the low beam is
switched on if you are not driving at a speed
greater than 50 km/h and theF (Offroad) or
G (Offroad Plus) drive program has been

Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus automati‐

R Partial high beam

ULTRA RANGE Highbeam
ULTRA RANGE Highbeam inc reases the bright‐
ness of the cone of light tothe legally permitted
maximum.
Pa rtial high beam uses the high beam toshine
past other road users rath er than dazzling them.
The vehicle in front will be illuminated bythe low
beam.
At speeds below 25 km/h or when there is suf fi‐
cient stre et lighting:
R The partial high beam and the high beam will
be switched off automaticall y.
At speeds greater than 30 km/h:
R If no other road users are de tected, the high
beam will be switched on automaticall y.
R Ifot her road users are de tected, the partial
high beam will be switched on automaticall y.
At speeds abo ve40 km/h:
R If no other road users are de tected on a
st ra ight road, ULTRA RANGE Highbeam will

When Surround lighting is active,theex terior
lighting lights up for 40 seconds af terth eve hicle
is unloc ked. When youstart theve hicle, the sur‐
ro und lighting is deactivated and the automatic
driving lights are activated.
Illuminated side running boards: whenthe
sur round lighting is swit ched on, the illumination
of theru nning boards is acti vated when a door is
opened. If the door is not closed, theru nning
board cou rtesy lighting is automatically deactiva‐
te d af ter 40 seconds. #

Engaging the outside mir rors
If an outside mir ror has been forc ibly disen‐
ga ge d, proceed as follo ws. #
Vehicles without electrically folding outside
mir rors: manually mo vethe outside mir ror
into the cor rect position. #
Vehicles with electrically folding outside mir‐
ro rs: press and hold button 2.
Yo u will hear a click and the mir ror will audi‐
bly engage in position. The outside mir ror will
now be set tothe cor rect position. Au

soning due tothe anti-dazzle mir ror elec‐
trolyte
Electrolyte may escape if theglass in an
automatic anti-dazzle mir ror breaks.
The electrolyte is hazardous tohealth and
causes ir rita tion. It mu stnot come into con‐
ta ct wi thyour skin, eyes,respiratory or gans
or clo thing or be swallo wed. #
Ifyo u come into contact with electro‐
ly te , obser vethefo llowing:
R Immediately rinse the electrolyte
from your skin with water and seek
medical attention.
R If electrolyte comes into contact
with your eyes, immediately rinse
th em thoroughly with clean water
and seek medical attention.
R Ifth e electrolyte is swallo wed,
immediately rinse your mouth out
th oroughl y.Do not induce vomiting.

rearview mir ror and the outside mir‐
ro r on the driver's side will automatically go into
anti-dazzle mode if light from a headlamp hits

Sy stem limits
The sy stem will not go into anti-dazzle mode if:
R The engine is switched off.
R Reversege ar is engaged.
R The interior lighting is swit ched on. Fr

The pa rking position is available on ly invehi‐
cles with a memory function.

has been delivered or af terre pairs. Full sys‐
te m ef fectiveness is not reached until the
end of this teach-in process.
R brakepads, brake discs and tyres that are
either new or ha vebeen replaced only ach‐
ie ve optimum braking ef fect and grip af ter
se veral hundred kilom etre s of driving. Com‐
pensate forth ere duced braking ef fect by

ur vehicle is equipped with driving sy stems
which assist you in driving, parking and manoeu‐
vring theve hicle. The driving sy stems are aids
and do not relie ve you of your responsibility per‐
ta ining toroad traf fic la w.Pay attention tothe
traf fic conditions at all times and inter vene
when necessa ry. Be aware of the limitations
re ga rding the safe use of these sy stems. Information on
radar and ultrasonic senso rsSome driving and driving sa
fety sy stems use
ra dar or ultrasonic sensors tomonitor the area
in front of, behind or next totheve hicle (depend‐
ing on theve hicle's equipment).
Depending on theve hicle's equipment, thera dar
sensors are integrated behind the bumpers
and/or behind the Mercedes star. The ultrasonic
sensors are located in the front and rear bump‐
ers. Keep these parts free of dirt, ice and slush
(/ page 509). The sensors must not be cov‐
ered, forex ample bybicycle rack s, ove rhanging loads,
sticke rs,fo il or foils toprotect against
st one chipping. Additional license plate brac kets
can li kewise impair the function of the ultrasonic
sensors. In theev ent of damage tothe bumpers
or radiator grille, or following a collision impact‐
ing the bumpers or radiator grille, ha vethe func‐
tion of the sensors checked at a qualified spe‐
cialist workshop. If the sensors are damaged,
some driving sy stems and driving saf ety sy stems

a critical situation is de tected when driving off, a
visual and acoustic warning is given indicating
th at the driver must now take control of theve hi‐

Ac tive Dis tance Assi stDISTRONIC is only an aid.
The driver is responsible forke eping a safe dis‐
ta nce totheve hicle in front, forve hicle speed
and for braking in good time.

The sy stem may be impaired or may not function

The windscreen in the area of the camera is

R In multi- stor ey car pa rks or on roads with
st eep uphill or downhill gradients.
R Ifth ere are nar rowvehicles in front, such as
bicycles or mo torcyc les.
In addition, on slippery roads, braking or accel‐
erating can cause one or se veral wheels tolose
traction and theve hicle could then skid.
