During the adjustment process of the
memory function, make sure that no
one has any body parts in the sweep of
th e seat. #
If someone becomes trapped, press a
memory position switch or seat adjust‐
ment switch immediately. &

Children could become trapped if they acti‐
va te the memory function, particularly when
unattended. #
Never lea vechildren unat tended in the

When leaving theve hicle, alw aysta ke
th eke y with you and lock theve hicle. This also applies
tothe Digital Vehicle Key if the
"Digital Vehicle Key" function is activated via
Mercedes me connect.
The memory function can be used when the igni‐
tion is switched off. St

Seat adjustments for up tothre e people can be
st ored and called up using the memory function.
The following sy stems can be selected:
R Seat
R Outside mir rors
R Head-up display
R Steering column
R Seat conto ur #
Set the seat, the seat conto ur,the head-up
display and the outside mir rors to the
desired position. #
Press memory button M and then press pre‐
set position button 1,2 or 3 within thre e sec‐
onds.

Combustion engines emit poisonous exhaust
ga ses such as carbon monoxide. Exhaust
ga ses can enter theve hicle interior if theta il‐
gate is open when the engine is running,
especially if theve hicle is in motion. #
Alw ays switch off the engine before
opening theta ilgate. #
Never drive with theta ilgate open. &
WARNING Risk of inju ryfrom unsecu red
items in theve hicle
If objects, luggage or loads are not secured
or not secured suf ficientl y,they could slip,
tip ove r or be throw n around and thereby hit
ve hicle occupants.
There is a risk of injur y,particularly in the
ev ent of sudden braking or a sudden change
in direction. #
Alw aysstow objects in such a wayth at
th ey cannot be thro wn around. #

ga ge or loads against slipping or tipping

qu ate stow age of objects
If yo u do not adequately stowobjects in the
ve hicle interior, they could slip or be tossed
around and thereby strike vehicle occupants.
In addition, cup holders, open stowage
spaces and mobile phone brac kets cann ot alw
aysre stra in the objects they contain in
th eev ent of an accident.
There is a risk of injur y,particularly in the
ev ent of sudden braking or a sudden change
in direction. #
Alw aysstow objects in such a wayth at
th ey cannot be tossed around in these
or similar situations. #
Alw ays make sure that objects do not
project from stowage spaces, luggage
nets or stowage nets. #
Close all sealable stowage spaces
before youstart your journe y. #
Stow and secure objects that are heavy,
hard, poin ted, sharp-edged, fragile or
to o lar geinthe load compartment. &
WARNING Risk of bu rning from theta il‐
pipe or tailpipe trim
The tailpipe and tailpipe trim can become
ve ry hot. If you come into contact with these

When you adjust a seat, you may trap your‐
self or a vehicle occupant. #
When adjusting a seat, make sure that
no one has any body parts in the sweep
of the seat. &
WARNING Risk of accident if seat and
seat ba ckrest are not engaged
If th e seat and seat backrest are not engaged
th ey could fold forw ards, e.g. when braking
or in theev ent of an accident.
R The seat or seat backrest which is not
engaged will then push theve hicle occu‐
pant against the seat belt. The seat belt
wo uld not be able toprov ide the intended
pr otection and could cause additional
injur y.
R Ach ild restra int sy stem will then no lon‐
ge r be suppor ted cor rectly or positioned
cor rectly and will no longer per form its
intended function.
R The seat backrest cannot restra in objects
or goods in the luggage compartment. Alw
ays ensure that the seat and seat back‐
re st are engaged:
R before passengers tr avel on a seat with
th e EASY -ENTRY/EXIT feature
R afte r adju sting the seat
R afte rth e EASY -ENTRY/EXIT feature is
used
R afte rth e load compartment enlar gement
has been folded down. Alw
ays ensure that all vehicle occupants ha ve
th eir seat belts fastened cor rectly and are sitting
prope rly. Pa rticular attention must be paid to
ch ildren.
If yo u no lon gerrequ irethefo lded-d own seat
ba ckrest as a loading area, fold the backrest
back into place.
Make sure that there d marking of the lock verifi‐
cation indicator is no longer visible. Otherwise,
th e seat backrest is not loc ked.
Depending on theve hicle equipment, a message
is displa yed on the instrument clus ter ins tead of

Damaged partition nets can no longer fulfil their
functions and must be replaced. Visit a qualified

hooks with heavy objects
The bag hooks cannot restra in heavy objects
or items of luggage.
Objects or items of luggage could be thrown
around and thereby hit vehicle occupants
when braking or abruptly changing direc‐
tions. #
Onlyhang light objects on the bag
hooks. #
Never hang hard, sharp-edged or fragile
objects on the bag hooks. Obser
vethe no tes on loading theve hicle
(/ page 133).
The bag hooks can bear a maximum load of

and then press handle 1down until it

When you load thero of, the cent reof gr avity
of theve hicle rises and the usual driving
ch aracteristics as well as thesteering and
braking characteristics change. During cor‐
nering, theve hicle tilts more strongly and
may react more sluggishly tosteering mo ve‐
ments.
If yo uexc eed the maximum roof load, the
driving characteristics, as well as thesteer‐
ing and braking characteristics, will be
great lyimpaired. #
Alw ays comply with the maximum roof
load and adjust your driving style. Yo

the cup holder &
WARNING ‑ Risk of accident or inju ry
when using the cup holder while the
ve hicle is in motion
The cup holder cannot hold a container
secure while theve hicle is in motion.
If yo u use a cup holder while theve hicle is in
motion, the conta iner may be flung around
and liquids could be spilled. The vehicle
occupants may come into contact with the liquid and if it is hot,
they could be scalded.
Yo u could be distracted from traf fic condi‐
tions and you may lose cont rol of theve hicle. #
Only use the cup holder when theve hi‐
cle is stationar y. #
Only use the cup holder for containers
of theright size. #
Alw ays close the conta iner, particularly
if th e liquid is hot. Depending on
theve hicle's equipment, thefo l‐
lowing cupholders are available:
R inthe front stowage compartment of the
centre console
R inthere ar passenger compartment centre
console
R inthe armrests of there ar seats Ve
hicles without a temp erature-contro lled
cupholder: the brac ket arms of front cup holder
can be retracted or extended. #
Toretract the brac ket arm: pushthe
brac ket arm 1outwards tothe side until it
engages.
When the brac ket arm is retracted, the cup
holder cann otfulfil its brac ket function. 14 8
