message
ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE –
CALL CONNECTED
appears in the MCS dis-
play. The Tele Aid system will transmit data
generating the vehicle identification num-
ber, model, color and location (subject to
availability of cellular and GPS signals).
A voice connection between the Roadside
Assistance dispatcher and the occupants
of the vehicle will be established. When a
voice connection is established the audio
system mutes and the message
TELE AID
– ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE CALL ACTIVE
ap-
pears in the MCS display.

Describe the nature of the need for as-
sistance.The Mercedes-Benz Roadside assistance
dispatcher will either dispatch a qualified
Mercedes-Benz technician or arrange to
tow your vehicle to the nearest
Mercedes-Benz Light Truck Center. For
services such as labor and / or towing,
charges may apply. Refer to the Roadside
Assistance manual for more information.
These programs are only available in the
USA:


Sign and Drive services: Services such
as jump start, a few gallons of fuel or
the replacement of a flat tire with the
vehicle spare tire are obtainable,


Remote Vehicle Diagnostics: This func-
tion permits the Mercedes-Benz Road-
side Assistance dispatcher to
download malfunction codes and actu-
al vehicle data.
iWhile the call is connected you can
change to navigation menu by pressing
NAVI button on the MCS unit.
iThe indicator lamp in the Roadside As-
sistance button• remains illumi-
nated in red for approx. ten seconds
during the system self-check after turn-
ing the key in the steering lock to
position2 (together with the SOS but-
ton and the Information button¡).

when the indicator lamp does not light
up in red or stays on longer than ap-
proximately ten seconds.

Useful features
Step 4:
Continue to press and hold the inte-
grated signal transmitter button (3,
4 or5) while you press and re-press
(“cycle”) your hand-held remote con-
trol transmitter1 every two seconds
until the frequency signal has been
learned. Upon successful training, the
indicator lamp6 will flash slowly and
then rapidly after several seconds.

Proceed with programming step 5 and
step 6 to complete.
Operation of remote control

Switch on ignition.

Select and press the appropriate inte-
grated signal transmitter button (3,
4or5 to activate the remote con-
trolled device.
The integrated remote control trans-
mitter continues to send the signal as
long as the button is pressed – up to
20 seconds.Erasing the remote control memory

Switch on ignition.

Simultaneously hold down the signal
transmitter buttons3 and5, for ap-
proximately 20 seconds, or until the in-
dicator lamp6 f la shes ra pid ly. Do not
hold for longer than 30 seconds.
The codes of all three channels are
erased.Reprogramming a single integrated
signal transmitter button
To program a device using a signal trans-
mitter button previously trained, follow
these steps:

Press and hold the desired signal trans-
mitter button (3, 4 or5). Do not re-
lease the button.

The indicator lamp will begin to flash af-
ter 20 seconds. Without releasing the
integrated signal transmitter button,
proceed with programming starting
with step 3.
iIf you sell your vehicle, erase the codes
of all three channels.

Switch-on characteristics
Activation of entire system
When the ignition/starter switch is turned to position 1(c.15R, ON ) the display is switched on , if the radio
and navigation module (A2/56) has been switched on before the ignition key was removed the last time.
The radio and navigation module (A2/56) is now ready for operation. The system active before the last
switch-off (e.g. radio) is switched on and the corresponding basic menu displayed. If the radio and navigation
module (A2/56) has been switched off for longer than 60 min a warning display appears with general
specifications for using the system.
When a telephone call is received the radio and navigation module (A2/56) switches on automatically.
Behavior when rotary knob is pressed
The radio and navigation module (A2/56) can also be switched on the when the remote control ke
y (A8/1) is
removed by actuating the rotary knob.
All functions are then available for 60 min . After expiration of 60 min the radio and navigation module
(A2/56) switches off automatically.
This function can only be repeated by actuating the rotary knob again.
Switch-off characteristics

1. Adhere supplied self-adhesive foamed material (1) to rear end of the center console bracket (2).
2. Measure dimension (a) on left and right from the upper edge of the transmission tunnel and mark floor
covering.
3. Starting from the transmission tunnel cutout of the floor covering, cut into floor covering 2 times (b).
Incisions should be located above the recesses in the transmission tunnel.

Garage door opener, function
The garage door opener consists of an intelligent radio remote control with three transmitter buttons capable of
learning. Various receivers for opening and closing systems and doors can be activated with the three buttons,
garage door opener button 1 (A67s1), garage door opener button 2 (A67s2) or garage door opener button 3
(A67s3).
Program remote control
Function requirements:
Term. 15R or 15 ON
Press and hold down garage door opener button 1 (A67s1), garage door opener button 2 (A67s2) or
garage door opener button 3 (A67s3).
The garage door opener indicator lamp (A67e4) starts flashing (frequency 1 Hz).
Continue to actuate garage door opener button 1 (A67s1), garage door opener button 2 (A67s2) or garage
door opener button 3 (A67s3) and hold garage door remote control with transmit button pressed for t < 90
s.
After successful programming, the garage door opener indicator lamp (A67e4) flashes rapidly (f = 5.5
Hz) for approx. 10 s.
Release the two transmit buttons and program additional transmitters as required.
Time switch-off
To protect the vehicle battery, the transmitter unit switches off the learn-in mode when programming is not
accomplished within approx. 100 s.
