Remove/install
1Remove radio AR82.60-P-

2Remove center part of instrument panel (1) AR68.10-P-

3Unscrew bolts at heater/AC controls (4) and
remove controls
4Detach cable (2, 3) Unclip cables at
heater/AC controls.
5Disconnect connector (X72/3) at heater/AC
controls (4)
6Install in the reverse order

Remove/Install
1Remove AC housing AR83.30-P-

2Remove bolt (1) from the covering on the
air duct (2)The bolt lies under the air
duct seal.
3Remove lever for blend air flap (3)
4Unscrew bolt (4) at bracket (5).
5Remove heat exchanger (6) upward
6Install in the reverse order
7Inspect cooling system for leaks AR20.00-P-

2.1 Detach
brake line
from the
front end of
the radiator
Only required for right-hand steering.
3.1 Detach
ignition
cable from
the front end
of the
radiator
Only required on right-hand drive vehicles
with ENGINES 111 /112/113.
4Release coolant overflow from
battery shield
5Disconnect upper coolant hose
from the electric coolant pump Detach hose clamp from the upper
coolant hose.
6Unscrew nuts from expansion
reservoir at firewall
7Remove expansion reservoir from
the firewall and lay aside
8Disconnect coolant delivery/return
hoses for heat exchanger (17) Detach hose clamps from coolant
delivery/ return hoses for heat exchanger.
9Discharge air conditioning system
Installation: Evacuate air
conditioning, refill and check for proper
operation and leaktightness.AR83.30-

10Unscrew self-locking nut (16) at
the expansion valve (15) Replace self-locking nut.

Detach low-pressure refrigerant
line (13) and high-pressure
refrigerant line (14) from expansion
valve (15)
Installation: Install new sealing rings
and moisten with compressor oil.
12Remove instrument panel carrier

Explosion hazard due to welding or
brazing work on the closed air
conditioning system. Poisoning hazard
from inhaling overheated refrigerant
vapors. Injury hazard from eye or skin
contact with liquid refrigerant.Never perform welding or brazing work on the
closed air conditioning system or in its vicinity.
Smoking and open fire is prohibited. Wear
protective goggles and protective gloves, only
work in well ventilated rooms. Perform repair
work on air conditioning circuit only if system is
discharged.

Remove/install
Risk of injury to skin and eyes
suffering scalding from contact with
hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning
from swallowing coolant.
Do not open cooling system unless coolant
temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly
and release the pressure. Do not pour
coolant into beverage bottles.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing
and eye protection.

The function of the electronic accelerator pedal EFP in the ME control unit determines the opening angle of the
throttle valve over the actuator EFP/TPM/LLR (other designation: throttle valve actuator).
Further functions are:
Idle speed control [ISC]
Cruise control mode
Variable speed limiter
30 km/hour limit
Reduce/increase the engine torque for ASR/ESP operation
short performance limitation, for example for a higher coolant temperature
Emergency electronic accelerator pedal
