If you pull on the handle of the trunk lid, only
the trunk of the vehicle is unlocked. Changing the settings of the locking
system
You can change the setting of the locking
system in such a way that only the driver's
door
and the fuel filler flap are unlocked. This
is useful if you frequently travel on your own.
X To change the setting: press and hold
down the % and & buttons
simultaneously for approximately six
seconds until the battery check lamp
(Y page 82) flashes twice.
i If the setting of the locking system is
changed within the signal range of the
vehicle, pressing the & or % button
locks or unlocks the vehicle.
The SmartKey now functions as follows:
X To unlock the driver's door: press the
% button once.
X To unlock centrally: press the %
button twice.
X To lock centrally: press the & button.
The KEYLESS-GO function is changed as
follows:
X To unlock the driver's door :
pull the door
handle on the driver's door.
X To unlock centrally: pull the door handle
on the front-passenger door or on the rear
doors.
X To lock centrally: touch the outer sensor
surface on one of the door handles. Restoring the factory settings
X Press the % and & buttons
simultaneously for approximately six
seconds until the battery check lamp
flashes twice. Mechanical key
General notes If you use the mechanical key to unlock and
open the driver's door or the trunk lid, the
anti-theft alarm system will be triggered
(Y page 75).
There are several ways to turn off the alarm:
X
To turn the alarm off with the
SmartKey:

press the % or & button
on the SmartKey.
or
X Insert the SmartKey into the ignition lock.
or
X To deactivate the alarm with KEYLESS-
GO: press the Start/Stop button in the
ignition lock. The SmartKey must be in the
vehicle.
or
X Lock or unlock the vehicle using KEYLESS-
GO. The SmartKey must be outside the
vehicle.

Make sure that the surface of the battery is
free
from lint, grease and all other forms of
contamination.
X Insert the front tabs of battery tray
cover : and then press to close it.
X Insert the mechanical key into the
SmartKey.

hold the area between the side cushion and
the cushion holder. There is a danger of

You can adjust the multicontour seat using
COMAND (Y page 270). Adjusting the multicontour seat in the
rear compartment
You can use the buttons on the center
console to adjust the multicontour seats for
the outer seats in the rear compartment. X
To select a rear-compartment seat:
push
or pull rocker switch : or C forwards or
backwards.
The indicator lamp in the selected button
lights up briefly.
X To adjust the side bolsters of the seat
backrest: push or pull rocker switch B
forwards or backwards.
X To adjust the backrest contour: push or
pull rocker switch A forwards or
backwards.
X To adjust the position of the backrest
contour: push or pull rocker switch ?
forwards or backwards.
X To activate/deactivate the gentle
massage function: push or pull rocker

X To activate/deactivate the strong

seat
You can adjust the active multicontour seat
using COMAND (Y page 272).
i If PRE-SAFE ®
has been activated, the air
pressure in the air chambers (the side
bolsters of the seat cushion and backrest)
of the multicontour seat or active
multicontour seat is increased. Adjusting the lumbar support
You can adjust the lumbar support using

If the battery voltage is too low, the seat
heating may switch off. The system automatically switches down
from level 3 to level 2 after approximately
eight minutes.
The system automatically switches down
from
level 2 to level 1 after approximately ten
minutes.
The system automatically switches off
approximately 20 minutes after it is set to
level 1.
X Make sure that the SmartKey is in position
2 in the ignition lock.
X To switch on: press button : repeatedly
until the desired heating level is set.
X To switch off: press button : repeatedly
until all the indicator lamps go out.
Problems with the seat heating The seat heating has switched itself off
prematurely. The vehicle's electrical system
voltage

is too low because too many electrical
consumers are switched on.
X Switch off electrical consumers which you
do not need, such as the rear window
defroster or interior lighting. Switching the seat ventilation on/off
Switching on/off The three blue indicator lamps in the buttons
indicate the ventilation level you have
selected. i
