Stopping the RACE TIMER
XPress the8button on the steeringwheel.
XConfirmYesYeswithv.
The RACE TIMER interrupts timing if you stopthe vehicle and turn the SmartKey to positionGin the ignition lock. If you turn the Smart-Key to position3and then pressvto con-
firmStartStart, timing is continued.
Resetting the current lap
XStop the RACE TIMER.
XPress theYorebutton to selectReset LapReset Lap.
XPressvto reset the lap time to "0".
Deleting all laps
If you switch off the engine, the RACE TIMER isreset to "0" after 30 seconds. All laps aredeleted.
You cannot delete individual stored laps. If youhave stopped 16 laps, the current lap does nothave to be reset.
XReset the current lap.
XPressvto confirmResetReset.Reset Race-Timer?Reset Race-Timer?appears in the multi-function display.
XPress thedbutton to selectYesYesandpress thevbutton to confirm.All laps are deleted.

Display messages
Introduction
General notes
Display messages appear in the multifunction display.
Display messages with graphic displays may be shown in simplified form in the Operator's Man-ual and may therefore differ from the multifunction display.
Please respond in accordance with the display messages and follow the additional notes in thisOperator's Manual.
Certain display messages are accompanied by an audible warning tone or a continuous tone.
When you stop and park the vehicle, please observe the notes on:
RHOLD function (Ypage 165)
RParking (Ypage 146)
Hiding display messages
XPress thevor8button on the steering wheel.The multifunction display hides the display message.
High-priority display messages are shown in red in the multifunction display. Some high-prioritydisplay messages cannot be hidden.
The multifunction display shows these messages continuously until the causes for the messageshave been remedied.
Message memory
The on-board computer saves certain display messages in themessage memory. You can callup the display messages:
XPress theYorebutton on the steering wheel to select theServ.Serv.menu.If there are display messages, the multifunction display shows2 Messages2 Messages, for example.
XPress thecordbutton to select the entry, e.g.2 Messages2 Messages.
XPressvto confirm.
XPress thecordbutton to scroll through the display messages.
When the ignition is switched off, all display messages are deleted, apart from some high-prioritydisplay messages. Once the causes of the high-priority display messages have been rectified, thecorresponding display messages are also deleted.

Possible causes are:

At least one driving system or driving safety system is malfunction-ing or is temporarily unavailable:

RPRE-SAFE®PLUS
If the radar sensor system in front is dirty, Active Blind Spot Assistwill not perform a course-correcting brake application.
Once the cause of the problem is no longer present, the driving anddrive safety systems will be available again. The display messagedisappears.
If the display message does not disappear:
XPull over and stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible, payingattention to road and traffic conditions.
XSecure the vehicle against rolling away (Ypage 146).
XSwitch off the engine.
XClean all sensors (Ypage 275).
XRestart the engine.The display message disappears.

GWARNING
The suspension settings are thus affected.

XMake only slight steering movements. Otherwise, the front fenderor the tires could be damaged if the steering movement is toolarge.
XListen for scraping sounds.
XVisit a qualified specialist workshop immediately.

XRepeat the parking process with the seat belt fastened and thedriver's door closed.

XWhile steering intervention is active, make sure that the multi-function steering wheel is not touched unintentionally.
The vehicle has started to skid and ESP®has intervened.
XUse Active Parking Assist again later (Ypage 175).

Active Parking Assist will become available again after approx-imately ten minutes (Ypage 175).

Active Parking Assist is malfunctioning.

Rthe system is outside the operating temperature range
Rthe on-board voltage is too low
A warning tone also sounds.
When the causes stated above no longer apply, the display messagedisappears.
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is operational again.
If the display message does not disappear:
XPull over and stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible, payingattention to road and traffic conditions.
XSecure the vehicle against rolling away (Ypage 146).
XRestart the engine.

Rthe driving characteristics, as well as steering and braking, maybe greatly impaired
There is a risk of an accident.
XStop the vehicle without making any sudden steering or brakingmaneuvers. Pay attention to the traffic conditions as you do so.
XSecure the vehicle against rolling away (Ypage 146).
XCheck the tires and, if necessary, follow the instructions for a flattire (Ypage 278).
XCheck the tire pressure (Ypage 299).
XIf necessary, correct the tire pressure.

GWARNING
Driving with a flat tire poses a risk of the following hazards:
Ra flat tire affects the ability to steer or brake the vehicle
Ryou could lose control of the vehicle.
Rcontinued driving with a flat tire will cause excessive heat build-up and possibly a fire
There is a risk of an accident.
XStop the vehicle without making any sudden steering or brakingmaneuvers. Pay attention to the traffic conditions as you do so.

Call priority
When service calls are active, e.g. RoadsideAssistance or MB Info calls, an emergency callcan still be initiated. In this case, an emer-gency call will take priority and override allother active calls.
The indicator lamp of the respective buttonflashes until the call is ended.
An emergency call can only be terminated bythe Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Cen-ter.
