MOExtended tires (tires with run-flat
properties)
General notes With MOExtended tires (tires with run flat char-
acteristics), you can continue to drive you rv ehi-
cle even if there is at otal loss of pressure in one
or more tires. The affected tire must not show
any clearl yv isible damage.
You can recognize MOExtended tires by the
MOExtended marking which appears on the
sidewall of the tire. You wil lf ind this marking
next to the tire size designation, the load-bear-
ing capacity and the speed index ( Y
page 269).
MOExtended tires may only be used in conjunc-
tion with an active tire pressure loss warning
system or with an active tire pressure monitor.
If ap ressure loss warning message appears
in the multifunction display: R
observe the instructions in the display mes-
sages ( Y
page 196).R
check the tire for damage. R
if driving on, observe the following notes.
The driving distance possible in run-flat mode is
approximately 50 miles (80 km) when the vehi-
cle is partially laden and approximately 19 miles
(30 km) when the vehicle is full yl aden. In addition to the vehicle load ,t he driving dis-
tance possible depends upon: R
vehicle speed R
road condition R
outsid et emperature
The driving distance possible in run-flat mode
may be reduced by extreme driving conditions
or maneuvers, or it can be increased through a
moderate style of driving.
The driving distance possible in run-flat mode is
counted from the moment the tire pressure loss
warning appears in the multifunction display.
You must not exceed am aximum speed of
50 mph (80 km/h).
When replacing one or all tires, please observe
the following specifications for you rv ehicle's
tires: R
size R
type and R
the "MOExtended" mark
If at ire has gone flat and cannot be replaced
with aM OExtended tire, as tandard tire may be
used as at emporary measure. Make sure that
you use the proper size and type (summe ro r
winter tire).
Vehicle se quipped with MOExtended tires are
not equipped with aT IREFIT kit at the factory. It
is therefore recommended that you additionally
equi py ou rv ehicle with aT IREFIT kit if y ou mount
tires
that do not feature run-flat properties, e.g.
winter tires. AT IREFIT kit is available, for exam-
ple, from aq ualifie ds pecialist workshop.
Important safety notes
G WARNING
When driving in emergency mode, the driving
characteristics deteriorate, e.g. when corner-
ing, accelerating quickly and when braking.
There is ar isk of an accident.
Do not exceed the stated maximum speed.
Avoid abrupt steering and driving maneuvers,
and driving over obstacle s( curbs, potholes,
off-road). This applies in particular to al aden
vehicle.
Stop driving in emergency mode if: R
you hear banging noises. R
the vehicle starts to shake.242

Recommended tire pressures
The Tire and Loading Informatio np la card is on
the B-pillar on the driver's side ( Y
page 265).
The Tire and Loading Informatio np la card con-
tains the recommende dt ire pressures for cold
tires. The recommende dt ire pressures ar ev alid
for the maximum permissibl el oa da nd up to the
maximum permissibl ev ehicl es peed.
Tire pressure table The tire pressure table is on the insid eoft he fuel
fille rf lap. It shows the tire pressure for al lt ires
permitted at the factory for thi sv ehicle; see
illustratio n( ex ample).
The tire pressure table contains the recommen-
de dp ressures for col dt ire sf or various operat-
ing conditions, i.e .d if ferin gl oa da nd spee dc on-
ditions.
If at ire size precedes at ire pressure, the fol-
lowing tire pressure informatio ni so nl yv alid for
tha tt ire size; see illustratio n( ex ample). The load conditions "partiall yl aden "a nd "fully
laden" ar ed ef ine dint he table for different num-
bers of occupants and amounts of luggage .T he
actual numbe rofs eats ma yd if fer.

If the tire pressures have been set to the lower
values for lighte rl oads and/or lowe rr oad

The tire pressures for increased load sa nd/or
highe rr oa ds peeds, shown in the tire pressure

comfort.

Specification for maximu mg ross vehicle
weight C is listed in the Tire and Loading
Informatio np lacard: "The combined weight of
occupants and cargo should never exceed
XXX kilograms or XXX lbs."
The gross weight of all vehicl eo ccupants, load
and luggage must not exceed the specified
value.

Number of seats
Maximu mn umber of seats C indicates the
maximu mn umber of occupants allowe dt o
travel in the vehicle. This information can be
found on the Tire and Loading Informatio np lac-

Loading Informatio np lacard in the illustration
are examples. The number of seats is vehicle-
specific and can diffe rf rom the details shown.
The number of seats in you rv ehicl ec an be
found on the Tire and Loading Information
placard.
Determinin gt he correct load limit
Step-by-ste pi nstructionsThe following steps have been developed as
required of all manufacturers under Title 49,
Cod eofU .S. Federa lR egulations, Part 575 pur-
suant to the "National Traffi ca nd Motor Vehicle
Safety Act of 1966". X
Step 1: Locate the statement "The combined
weight of occupants and cargo should never
exceed XXX kg or XXX lbs." on you rv ehicle’s
Tire and Loading Informatio np lacard.X
Step 2: Determine the combined weight of
the drive ra nd passengers that wil lber iding in
you rv ehicle. X
Step 3: Subtract the combined weight of the
drive ra nd passengers from XXX kilograms or
XXX lbs. X
Step 4: The resulting figure equals the avail-
abl ea mount of cargo and luggage loa dc apa-
city. For example, if the "XXX "a mount equals
1400 lbs and there wil lbef ive 150-lb pas-
sengers in you rv ehicle, the amount of avail-
abl ec argo and luggage loa dc apacity is
650 lbs (1400 -7 50 (5 x1 50) = 6 50 lbs).X
Step 5: Determine the combined weight of
luggage and cargo being loaded on the vehi-
cle. That weight may not safel ye xceed the
available cargo and luggage loa dc apacity cal-
culated in step 4.

calculate total and cargo loa dc apacities with
varying seating configurations and number and
size of occupants. The following examples use a

DOT, Tire Identificatio nN umbe r( TIN)US tire regulations stipulate tha te very tire man-
ufacturer or retreader must imprint aT IN in or on
the sidewall of each tire produced.
The TIN is au niqu ei de ntificatio nn umber. The
TIN enables the tire manufacturer sorr etreaders
to inform purchaser sofr ecall sa nd othe rs af ety-

Manufacturer identificatio nc ode: manufac-
turer identification code D provides details on
the tire manufacturer. New tires have ac ode
with two symbols. Retreaded tires have ac ode
with four symbols.

Weight of optional extras The combined weight of those optiona le xtras
that weigh more than the replaced standard
parts and more than 2.3 kg (5 lbs) .T hese
optiona le xtras, such as high-performance
brakes ,l eve lc ontrol, ar oof rack or ah igh-per-
formance battery ,a re not included in the curb
weight and the weight of the accessories.
TIN (Tire Identification Number) This is au nique identifier which can be use db y
at ire manufacturer to identify tires, for example
for ap roduct recall, and thus identify the pur-
chasers. The TIN is made up of the manufactur-
er's identity code, tire size, tire type code and
the manufacturing date.
Load bearin gi ndexThe loa db earing index (also loa di ndex) is ac ode
that contains the maximu ml oa db earing capa-
city of at ire.
Traction Tractio nist he result of friction between the tires
and the road surface.
Treadwear indicators Narrow bars (tread wea rb ars )t hat are distrib-

tain AMG tires)
Mercedes-Benz Original Extended tires may
only be used on wheels that have been spe-
cifically approved by Mercedes-Benz.
Only use tires, wheels or accessories tested
and approved by Mercedes-Benz .C ertain
characteristics, e.g. handling, vehicle noise
emissions or fuel consumption, may other-
wise be adversely affected. In addition, when
driving with al oad, tire dimension variations
could cause the tires to come into contact
with the bodywork and axle components .T his
could result in damage to the tires or the vehi-
cle.
Mercedes-Benz accepts no liability for dam-
age resulting from the use of tires, wheels or
accessories other than those tested and
approved.
Information on tires, wheels and approved
combinations can be obtained from any quali-
fied specialist workshop.
! Retreaded tires are neither tested nor rec-
ommended by Mercedes-Benz ,s ince previ-
ous damage cannot alway sbed etected on
retreaded tires. As ar esult, Mercedes-Benz
cannot guarantee vehicle safety if retreaded
tires are mounted. Do not mount used tires if
you have no information about their previous
usage.
The recommended pressures for various oper-
ating conditions can be found: R
on the Tire and Loading Information placard
on the B-pillar on the driver's side R
in the tire pressure table in the fuel filler flap
Observe the notes on recommended tire pres-
sures under various operating conditions

page 258).
Check tire pressures regularly, and only when
the tires are cold. Comply with the maintenance
recommendations of the tire manufacturer in
the vehicle document wallet. Notes on the vehicle equipment –a lway se quip

and the wheel to be replaced may differ.

adapt your driving style accordingly and
drive carefully. R
never mount more than one spare wheel or
emergenc ys pare wheel that differs in size. R

have as pare wheel or emergenc ys pare
wheel of ad ifferent size replaced at the
nearest qualified specialist workshop.
Observe that the wheel and tire dimensions
as well as the tire type must be correct.
When using an emergenc ys pare wheel or spare
wheel of ad ifferent size, you must not exceed
