Parking Guidance
Important safety notes
Parking Guidance is an electronic parking aidwith ultrasound. Ultrasound is used to meas-ure the road on both sides of the vehicle. Asuitable parking space is indicated by theparking symbol. You receive steering instruc-tions when parking. You can also still useParking Assist PARKTRONIC (Ypage 153).
Parking Guidance is only an aid. It is not areplacement for your attention to your immedi-ate surroundings. You are always responsiblefor safe maneuvering, parking and exiting aparking space. Make sure that there are nopersons, animals or objects in the maneuver-ing area when you are maneuvering or parking.
GWARNING
If objects are located above the detection
range, Parking Guidance may provide steer-
ing instructions too soon. You may cause a
collision as a result. There is a risk of an
accident.
If objects are located above the detection
range, stop and switch off Parking Assist.
!If they cannot be avoided, drive overobstacles such as curbs slowly and at anobtuse angle. Otherwise, you may damagethe wheels or tires.
When Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is switchedoff, Parking Guidance is also unavailable.
Parking Guidance may also display spaces notsuitable for parking, e.g.:

General notes
The multimedia system section in this Opera-tor's Manual describes the basic principles foroperation. More information can be found inthe Digital Operator's Manual.
Important safety notes
GWARNING
If you operate information systems and com-
munication equipment integrated in the
vehicle when driving, you may be distracted
from the traffic situation. You could also
lose control of the vehicle. There is a risk of
an accident.
Only operate this equipment when the traffic
situation permits. If you are not sure that
this is possible, park the vehicle paying
attention to traffic conditions and operate
the equipment when the vehicle is station-
ary.
You must observe the legal requirements forthe country in which you are currently drivingwhen operating the multimedia system.
The multimedia system calculates the route tothe destination without taking the followinginto account, for example:
Rtraffic lights
Rstop and yield signs
Rparking or stopping restrictions
Rroad narrowing
Rother road and traffic rules and regulations
The multimedia system may give incorrect nav-igation recommendations if the actual street/traffic situation does not correspond with thedigital map's data.
For example:
Ra diverted route
Rthe road layout or the direction of a one-waystreet has been changed
For this reason, you must always observe roadand traffic rules and regulations during yourjourney. Road and traffic rules and regulationsalways have priority over multimedia systemdriving recommendations.
Navigation announcements are intended todirect you while driving without diverting yourattention from the road and driving.
Please always use this feature instead of con-sulting the map display for directions. Lookingat the icons or map display can distract youfrom traffic conditions and driving, andincrease the risk of an accident.
This equipment complies with FCC radiationexposure limits set forth for uncontrolledequipment and meets the FCC radio frequency(RF) Exposure Guidelines in Supplement C toOET65.
This equipment has very low levels of RFenergy that is deemed to comply without maxi-mum permissive exposure evaluation (MPE).However, it is recommended to install it at adistance of at least 8 inches (approx. 20 cm)between the radiation source and a person'sbody (not including limbs such as hands, wrists, feet and legs).
GWARNING
Modifications to electronic components,
their software as well as wiring can impair
their function and/or the function of other
networked components. In particular, sys-
tems relevant to safety could also be affec-
ted. As a result, these may no longer func-
tion as intended and/or jeopardize the oper-
ating safety of the vehicle. There is an
increased risk of an accident and injury.
Never tamper with the wiring as well as elec-
tronic components or their software. You
should have all work to electrical and elec-
tronic equipment carried out at a qualified
specialist workshop.
Function restrictions
For safety reasons, some functions are restric-ted or unavailable while the vehicle is inmotion. You will notice this, for example, because either you will not be able to selectcertain menu items or a message will appearto this effect.

The tire pressure monitor has a yellow warninglamp in the instrument cluster for indicatingpressure loss or a malfunction. Whether thewarning lamp flashes or lights up indicateswhether a tire pressure is too low or the tirepressure monitor is malfunctioning:
Rif the warning lamp is lit continuously, thetire pressure on one or more tires is signifi-cantly too low. The tire pressure monitor isnot malfunctioning.
Rif the warning lamp flashes for approx-imately a minute and then remains lit con-stantly, the tire pressure monitor is malfunc-tioning.
In addition to the warning lamp, a messageappears in the multifunction display. Observethe information on display messages(Ypage 201).
It may take up to ten minutes for a malfunc-tion of the tire pressure monitor to be indica-ted. A malfunction will be indicated by the tirepressure warning lamp flashing for approx-imately one minute and then remaining lit. When the malfunction has been rectified, thetire pressure warning lamp goes out after afew minutes of driving.
The tire pressure values indicated by the on-board computer may differ from those meas-ured at a gas station with a pressure gage. Thetire pressures shown by the on-board com-puter refer to those measured at sea level. Athigh altitudes, the tire pressure values indica-ted by a pressure gage are higher than thoseshown by the on-board computer. In this case,do not reduce the tire pressures.
The operation of the tire pressure monitor canbe affected by interference from radio trans-mitting equipment (e.g. radio headphones,two-way radios) that may be being operated inor near the vehicle.
