TireQuality Grading Standards are
U.S. governmen tspecifications. Theirpurpose
is to provide driverswithuniform reliableinfor-
mation ontire performance data.Tiremanu-
facturers havetograde tiresusing threeper-
formanc efactors: 0043tread weargrade, 0044
tract iongrade and0087temperature grade.
These regulations donot apply toCanada.
Nevertheless, alltires soldinNorth America
are provided withthecorrespondin gquality
grading markings onthe sidewal lofthe tire.
Quality gradescanbefound, whereapplicab le,

braking distance isstill much further thanon surfaces
thatarenot icyorcovered withsnow.
