Useful features
Power outlet
A power outlet is located in the passenger
footwell on the side panel of the center
console.

Switch on the ignition (page 37).
Flip up cover of power outlet1 and in-
sert electrical plug (cigarette lighter
type).
Floormat (driver’s side only) Removing

Pull floormat off of retainer pin2 in
direction of arrow1.
Remove the floormat.
iThe power outlet can be used to accommo-
date 12V DC electrical accessories (e.g. air
pump, auxiliary lamps) up to a maximum of
180 W.
Warning!G
Whenever you are using floormats, make
sure there is enough clearance and the
floormats are securely fastened.
Floormats should always be securely fas-
tened using eyelets4 and retainer pins5.
Before driving off, check that the floormats
are securely in place and adjust them if
necessary. A loose floormat could slip and
hinder proper functioning of the pedals.
Do not place several floormats on top of
each other as this may impair pedal move-
ment.
iTo install or remove the floormat more
easily, move the driver’s seat as far to the rear
as possible (
page 39).

the system’s weight threshold is on
the passenger seat, or the passenger
seat is empty. Objects on the seat or
forces acting on the seat may make
the system sense supplemental
weight.Stop the vehicle in a safe location as soon as possible and check the
passenger seat for the following:
Switch off the ignition (page 37).
Apply the parking brake (page 59).
Remove child and child restraint from passenger seat.
Make sure that no objects which are applying supplemental weight
onto the seat are present. The system may recognize such supple-
mental weight and sense that an occupant on the passenger seat is
of a greater weight than actually present.
Keep the seat unoccupied, close the passenger door and switch on
the ignition (
page 37).
Monitor the 75indicator lamp on the center console
(
page 29) and the multifunction display in the instrument cluster
(
page 121) for the following:

page 71) has deactivated the passenger front air bag and the
passenger-side knee bag.

should not appear in the multifunction display at
any time the seat is unoccupied. Wait at least 60 seconds for the sys-
tem to complete the necessary check cycles and to make sure neither
message appears in the multifunction display.
If above conditions are met, you can occupy the passenger seat again.
Depending on the passenger classification sensed by the
OCS (
page 71), the 75indicator lamp will remain
illuminated or go out.
If above conditions are not met, the system is not working properly. Have
the system checked as soon as possible by an authorized Mercedes-Benz
Center.
Warning!G
If the 75indicator lamp
remains illuminated with an adult occupant
on the passenger seat even after performing
the above corrective steps, do not have any passenger use the passenger seat until the
system has been repaired.

Unlocking/locking in an emergency
Unlocking and opening the trunk
A minimum height clearance of
5.78 ft (1.76 m) is required to open the
trunk lid.Insert mechanical key 3 into the trunk
lid lock until it stops.
Turn mechanical key 3 counterclock-
wise to position1 until it stops,
and simultaneously
pull trunk lid handle 2 and lift lid.
Turn mechanical key 3 back and
remove it from the trunk lid lock.
Locking the vehicle
If you cannot lock the vehicle with the
SmartKey, do the following:
Close the passenger door and the trunk
lid.
Press the central locking switch in the
upper part of the center console
(
page 103).
Check to see whether the locking knob
on the passenger door has moved
down.
If necessary, push it down manually.
The passenger door is locked.
Exit the vehicle and close the driver’s
door.
