First aid kit
The first aid kit is stored in a parcel net
behind the driver’s seat.Vehicle tool kit, vehicle jack
The vehicle tool kit is stored in a storage
compartment under the trunk floor.
The following is included:
Collapsible wheel chock
Vehicle jack
Protective wrap (except SLK 55 AMG
with Performance Package)
Alignment bolt
Towing eye bolt
Wheel wrench
Valve extractor
Electric air pump
TIREFIT kit (SLK 55 AMG with
Performance Package only)Removing the vehicle tool kit
Vehicles with spare wheel
Open the trunk (page 99).
Lift up trunk floor.
Remove the spare wheel (page 392).
You can now access the vehicle tool
kit.
iCheck expiration dates and contents for
completeness at least once a year and replace
missing/expired items.

Open the trunk (page 99).
Lift up trunk floor.Vehicle jack
Warning!G
The jack is designed exclusively for jacking
up the vehicle at the jack take-up brackets
built into both sides of the vehicle. To help
avoid personal injury, use the jack only to lift
the vehicle during a wheel change. Never
get beneath the vehicle while it is supported
by the jack. Keep hands and feet away from
the area under the lifted vehicle. Always
firmly set parking brake and block wheels
before raising vehicle with jack.
Do not disengage parking brake while the
vehicle is raised. Be certain that the jack is
always vertical (plumb line) when in use,
especially on hills. Always try to use the jack
on level surface. Make sure the jack arm is
fully seated in the jack take-up bracket. Al-
ways lower the vehicle onto sufficient
capacity jackstands before working under
the vehicle.

Flat tire
Jack up the vehicle until the wheel is a
maximum of 1.2 in (3 cm) from the
ground.Removing the wheel

Unscrew the upper-most wheel bolt
and remove.
Replace this wheel bolt with alignment
bolt4 supplied in the vehicle tool
kit (
page 389).
Remove the remaining bolts.

Warning!G
The jack is intended only for lifting the
vehicle briefly for wheel changes. It is not
suited for performing maintenance work
under the vehicle.
Never start the engine when the vehicle
is raised.
Never lie down under the raised vehicle.
!Do not place wheel bolts in sand or dirt. This
could result in damage to the bolt and wheel hub
threads.
Warning!G
Inflate collapsible tire only after the wheel is
properly mounted.
Inflate the collapsible tire using the electric
pump (
page 418) before lowering the
vehicle.

Flat tire
Unscrew the alignment bolt, install last
wheel bolt and tighten slightly.

Take the electric air pump out of the
trunk (
page 390).
Open flap1 on air pump.
Pull out electrical plug3 and air hose
with pressure gauge4.
Close vent screw on air hose4.
Remove the valve cap from the tire
valve.
Screw union nut5 onto the tire valve.
Make sure electric air pump switch2
is set to0.
Insert electrical plug3 into the power
outlet in the passenger footwell
(
page 257).
Turn the SmartKey in the starter switch
to position1.
Warning!G
Use only genuine Mercedes-Benz wheel
bolts. Other wheel bolts may come loose.
Do not tighten the wheel bolts when the
vehicle is raised. Otherwise the vehicle
could fall off the jack.Warning!G
Observe instructions on air pump label.
!Do not lower the vehicle before inflating the
collapsible tire. Otherwise the rim may be
damaged.
!The cigarette lighter (page 256) is not de-
signed for use with the electric air pump. Use the
power outlet in the passenger footwell
(
page 257) for electric air pump operation.
