The transmission fluid temperature and the
coolant temperature are displayed in the
AMG menu (Y page 241). Rev counter
The red band in the rev counter indicates the
engine's overrevving range. The fuel supply is
interrupted to protect the engine when the
red band is reached.
! Do not drive in the overrevving range.
Doing so will damage the engine. Outside temperature display

Risk of accident
At temperatures just above freezing point, the
street may be icy, especially in wooded areas
or on bridges. If you do not adapt your driving
style to the conditions, the vehicle could skid.
For this reason, adapt your driving style and
speed to the weather conditions.
Changes in the outside temperature are dis-
played after a short delay. On-board computer

If the ignition is switched on, you can operate
the on-board computer. G

Only use the on-board computer when road
and traffic conditions permit. You would oth-
erwise be distracted and unable to concen-
trate properly on driving, and could cause an

You may tow the vehicle for a maximum
of 50 km. A towing speed of 50 km/h must
not be exceeded.
For towing distances over 50 km, the entire
vehicle must be lifted up and transported.
! Observe the transmission fluid tempera-
ture (AMG menu) in the on-board computer
when towing. The transmission fluid tem-
perature must not exceed 120 †. If this
occurs, you must stop towing immediately. Fitting the towing eye

To open the cover: remove cover0001by
pulling it forward.
X Take cover 0001off the opening.
Securing the towing eye X
Take the towing eye and the wheel
wrench 26
out of the tyre-change tool kit
(Y page 288).
X Screw in the towing eye clockwise to the
stop.
X Insert the wheel wrench handle into the
towing eye and tighten it. Towing the vehicle

onwards.
X Start the engine.
X Ensure that the key is in position 2in the
ignition (Y page 203) and that the engine is
on throughout the towing procedure.
X Move the transmission selector lever to N.
Check the transmission position in the

X Take the wheel wrench 27
out of the tyre-
change tool kit (Y page 288).
X Insert the wheel wrench handle into the
towing eye and turn it anti-clockwise.
X Unscrew the towing eye.
X Replace the cover and press it until it
engages.
X Return the towing eye and the wheel
wrench to the tyre-change tool kit. Transporting the vehicle
The towing eye can be used to pull the vehicle
onto a trailer or transporter for transporting
purposes.
! Only secure the vehicle by the wheels or
wheel rims, not by parts of the vehicle such
as axle or steering components. Otherwise,
the vehicle could be damaged.
X Start the engine.
X Ensure that the key is in position 2in the
ignition (Y page 202) and that the engine is
on during the entire loading operation.
X Move the transmission selector lever to N.
Check the transmission position in the
instrument cluster.

Engine number
The engine number is stamped on the crank-
case. More informatio ncan be obtained from
any Mercedes-Benz Service Centre. Service products and capacities
Service products include the following:
R fuels
R lubricants (e.g. engine oil, transmission oil)
R coolant
R brake fluid
R windscree nwasher fluid
Mercedes-Ben zrecommends that you use
products which have been tested and spe-
cially approved by Mercedes-Benz for your
vehicle and are listed in this Mercedes-Benz
Owner's Manual in the relevant section as:
R parts and service products are matched.
R damage caused by the use of non-approved
service products is not covered by the
implied warranty
You can recognise service products approved
by Mercedes-Benz by the following inscrip-
tion on the containers:
R MB-Freigabe (e.g. MB-Freigabe 229.51)
R MB Approval (e.g. MB Approval 229.51)
Other designations or recommendations that
relate to a level of quality or a specification in
accordance with an MB Sheet number (such
as MB 229.5) have not necessarily been
approved by Mercedes-Benz.
You can obtain further information from any
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre. G

When handling, storing and disposing of any
service products, please observe the relevant
regulations, as you could otherwise endanger
yourself and others.
Keep service products away from children.
To protec tyour health, do not allow service
products to come into contact with your eyes or open wounds. See a doctor immediately if
any service product is swallowed.

Dispose of service products in an environ-

Risk of explosion
Fuel is highly flammable. Fire, naked flames
and smoking are therefore prohibited when
handling fuels.
Switch off the engine before refuelling. G

Do not allow fuel to come into contact with
skin or clothing.
Allowing fuels to come into direct contact with
your skin or inhaling fuel vapours is damaging
to your health.

Do not use diesel to refuel vehicles with a
petrol engine. Even small amounts of diesel
result in damage to the injection system.
Damage resulting from adding diesel is not
covered by the warranty.

the following situations:
