R Only use theve hicle-speci/c jack that has
been tested and appro vedby Mercedes-Benz

R The jack is designed only toraise theve hicle
fo r a short time while a wheel is being changed
and is not suitable for car rying out mainte-

R Avoid changing a wheel on uphill and downhill

The jack must be placed on a /rm, 0at and
non-slip sur face. If necessar y,use a lar ge, 0at,
load bearing and non-slip underla y.
R The base of the jack is positioned vertically
under the jack support point.
Saf ety inst ructions while theve hicle is raised:
R Do not put your hands or feet under theve hi-
cle.
R Do not lie underneath theve hicle.
R Do not start theve hicle and do not release the
parking brake.
R Do not open or close any doors. Jacking points

Assemble adap ter4 and ratchet 5from the

Place adap ter4 and ratchet 5onthe he xa-
gon nut of jack 2sothat the lettering

Turn ratchet wrench 5intheAU F/UP direc-
tion until the tyre is raised a maximum of 3 cm

Only use the spare wheel brie0y. #
Have a spare wheel of a di.erent size
re placed at the nearest quali/ed special-
ist workshop. It is essential that the new
wheel and tyre ha vethe cor rect dimen-
sions and that the cor rect tyre type is
obser ved. R
When using a spare wheel (di.erent from the
wheel tobe replaced), you must not exceed a
to p speed of 80 km/h.
R The tyre pressure of the spare wheel must be
ch ecked before starting a journey and, if nec-
essar y,adjusted (/ page 254).
R Have the spare wheel replaced bya quali/ed
specialist workshop. The
following should be checkedre gular ly, particu-
lar lyprior tolong journe ys:
R the secure positioning of the spare wheel
R the tyre pressure of the spare wheel (adjust

The spare wheel is located in a spare wheel holder
under there ar of theve hicle.
Re place the tyres aTer six years at the latest,
re ga rdless of wear. This also applies tothe spare
wheel.

A person in the front passenger seat could then, forex ample,
come into contact with theve hicle interior, especially if the person
is sitting too close tothe dashboa rd. #

R The PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF indicator la mpmust light up
continuousl y.Ifth e indicator lamp is lit, the automatic front
passenger airbag actuation has disabled the front passenger

Waitfor at least one minute until the necessary system checks
ha ve been comple ted. #
Ensure that the display does not show either of the two display
messages about the front passenger airbag.

actuation is malfunctioning. #

eve nt of an accident.
The child could be struck bythe airbag. #
Always ensu rethat the front passenger airbag is disabled.
The PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator la mpmust be lit. #
NEVER use a rear wa rd-facing child restraint system on a
seat wi than ENABLED FRONT AIR BAG. This can result in the
DEATH of or SERIOUS INJURY tothe CHILD. #
Stop theve hicle immediately in accordance with the tra1c condi-
tions. #
Secure theve hicle against rolling away. #
Ensure that no objects ha vebecome trapped beneath the front
passenger seat. #
Switch o. theve hicle. #
Open the front passenger door. #
Remo vethech ild and thech ild restraint system from the front

Make sure there are no objects applying additional weight tothe
seat.
The system may otherwise de tect the additional weight and inter-
