The key fits all locks.WARNINGl When bringing a key on flights, do not
press any switches on the key while on
the plane. If a switch is pressed on the
plane, the key emits electromagnetic
waves, which could adversely affect the
plane’s flight operation.
When carrying a key in a bag, be careful
that no switches on the key can be easily
pressed by mistake.
NOTE
l The key number is stamped on the tag as in-
dicated in the illustration.
Make a record of the key number and store
the key and key number tag in separate pla-
ces, so that you can order a key in the event
the original keys are lost.
l The key is a precision electronic device with
a built-in signal transmitter. Please observe
the following in order to prevent a malfunc-
tion. •Do not leave anywhere that is exposed to
direct sunlight, for example on the dash-
board.
• Do not dissemble or modify.
• Do not excessively bend the key or sub-
ject it to a strong impact.
• Do not expose to water.
• Keep away from magnetic key holders.
• Keep away from audio systems, personal
computers, TVs, and any other equip-
ment that generates a magnetic field.
• Do not wash with ultrasonic cleaners or
similar equipment.
• Do not leave the key where it may be ex-
posed to high temperature or high humid-
ity.
l The engine is designed so that it will not
start if the ID code registered in the immobil-
izer computer and the key’s ID code do not
match. Refer to the section entitled “Electron-
ic immobilizer” for details and key usage.Electronic immobilizer (Anti-
theft starting system) E00300201872
The electronic immobilizer is designed to signifi-
cantly reduce the possibility of vehicle theft. The
purpose of the system is to immobilize the vehicle
if an invalid start is attempted. A valid start attempt
can only be achieved (subject to certain conditions)
using a keyless operation system “registered” to
the immobilizer system.
All of the keys provided with your new vehicle
have been programmed into the vehicle’s electron-
ics.
The immobilizer indication lamp comes on in the
event of a malfunction in the system electronics.
NOTE
l In the following cases, the vehicle may not
be able to receive the registered ID code
from the key. This means the engine will not
start even when the registered key is turned
to the “START” position. •When the key contacts a key ring or other
metallic or magnetic object (Type A)

Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine lOperation of ABS is not restricted to situa-
tions where brakes are applied suddenly.
This system may also operate to prevent
wheel lock when you are driving over man-
holes, steel road-work plates, or the vehicle
is driven over steps or level differences in
the road, road markings, or other surfaces
which are difficult for the wheels to grip.
l When the ABS is activated, you may feel the
brake pedal pulsating and hear a characteris-
tic noise. Also at this time, it may feel as if
the pedal attempts to resist being depressed.
In this situation, to let the ABS work for
you, just hold the brake pedal down more
firmly. Do not pump the brake. This will
result in reduced braking performance.CAUTIONl Even the ABS cannot prevent the natural
laws of physics from acting on the vehi-
cle. It cannot for instance avoid accidents
that may result from excessive speed on
bends or following another vehicle too
closely or aquaplaning. It should remain
the driver’s task to observe safety precau-
tions to judge speeds and brake applica-
tions correctly in such conditions.
l Be sure to use tyres of the same type and
size on 4 wheels.
If tyre types or sizes are mixed, ABS may
not function properly.CAUTIONl Never install a limited-slip differential,
which is not MITSUBISHI MOTORS gen-
uine parts, as the ABS may not function
properly.
We recommend to consult a

Service Point.ABS warning lamp E00607200835
The ABS warning lamp comes on and a buzzer
sounds in the event of a malfunction in the anti-
lock brake system. It will also come on as a self-
check for a few seconds when the ignition switch is
turned to the “ON” position, and the lamp goes off
after a few seconds. Always make sure that the
lamp goes out before beginning to drive.
CAUTIONl If the warning lamp stays on or does not
illuminate when you start the vehicle, it in-
dicates that the ABS is not functioning
and that only the standard brake system
is in operation. (In this condition the stand-
ard hydraulic brake system will still func-
tion.) We recommend you to consult a
MITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorized
Service Point. If the warning lamp illuminates while
driving E00607301035
If only the ABS warning lamp illuminates
l Avoid hard braking and high-speed driving.
Stop the vehicle in a safe place.
Restart the engine and check to see whether
the lamp goes out after a few minutes driv-
ing; if it then remains off during driving,
there is no problem.
However, if the lamp does not go out, or if it
lights up again when the vehicle is driven,
we recommend you to consult a
MITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorized Service
Point.

Check the washer fluid level in the container.
If the level is low, replenish the container with wash-
er fluid.
NOTE
l The washer fluid container serves the wind-
screen and the rear window.
During cold weather
To ensure proper operation of the washers at low
temperatures, use a fluid containing an anti-freez-
ing agent.
Brake fluid/Clutch fluid* E01000800035
The brake fluid (A) and the clutch fluid (B) share
reservoir tank.
To check the fluid level
A- Brake fluid B- Clutch fluid
C- Partition
The fluid level must be between the “MAX” and
“MIN” marks on the reservoir.
The brake fluid level is monitored by a float. When
the fluid level falls below the “MIN” mark, the
brake fluid warning lamp lights up.
The brake fluid level falls slightly with wear of the
brake pads, but this does not indicate any abnormal-
ity.
The fluid in the master cylinder should be checked
when doing other work under the bonnet. The
brake system should also be checked for leaks at
the same time.
If the fluid level falls markedly in a short length of
time, it indicates leaks from the each system.
If this occurs, we recommend you to have the vehi-
cle checked.
Fluid type
Use brake fluid conforming to DOT4+ from a
sealed container.
The brake fluid is hygroscopic. Too much moisture
in the brake fluid will adversely affect the brake sys-
tem and clutch system, reducing the performance.CAUTIONl Take care in handling brake fluid as it is
harmful to the eyes, may irritate your
skin and also damage painted surfaces.
l Use only the specified brake fluid.
Do not mix or add different brands of
brake fluid to prevent chemical reactions.
Do not let any petroleum-based fluid
touch, mix with, or get into the brake fluid.
This will damage the seals.
l Keep the reservoir tank cap closed to pre-
vent the brake fluid from deteriorating ex-
cept maintenance.
l Clean the filler cap before removing and
close the cap securely after maintenance.
