Cruise control is an automatic speed control system. It lets you keep the same driving speed. Cruise control can be activated atabout 25 mph (40 km/h)
or more. It is espe-
cially useful for freeway driving. Cruise con- trol does not work at speeds below about 25 mph (40 km/h).
To activate and deactivate the cruise control function. To reduce the set speed and to set the speed of constant-speed driving. To increase the set speed and to resume to the previous set speed. To terminate constant-speed driving.
CAUTION If the warning display appears while the engine is running, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer ora repair facility of
your choice as soon as
possible. It may become harder to turn the steering wheel.
Cruise control
(if so equipped)
CAUTION For safety reasons, the cruise control system should be set to the “OFF” position by press- ing the “ON OFF” switch (A) when you are not using the cruise control system. Do not use cruise control when driving con- ditions will not allow you to stay at the same speed, such as in heavy traffic or on roadsthat are winding, icy, snowy, wet, slippery or on a steep downhill slope. On vehicles with manual transaxle, do not move the gearshift lever to the “N” (Neutral) position while driving at a set speed withoutdepressing the clutch pedal. The engine will run too fast and might be damaged. NOTE
 Cruise control may not be able to keep your speed on uphills or downhills.  Your speed may drop on a steep uphill. You may have to use the accelerator pedal if you want to stay at your set speed.  Your speed may increase to more than the set speed on a steep downhill. You must use the brake to control your speed.

Accordingly, when the low tire pressure tell- tale illuminates, you should stop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the proper pressure. Driving on a sig-nificantly under-inflated tire causes the tire to overheat and can lead to tire failure. Under-inflation also reduces fuel efficiencyand tire tread life, and may affect the vehi- cle’s handling and stopping ability. Please note that the TPMS is not a substitute forproper tire maintenance, and it is the driver’sresponsibility to maintain correct tire pres- sure, even if under-inflation has not reached the level to trigger illumination of the TPMSlow tire pressure telltale. Your vehicle has also been equipped with a TPMS malfunction indicator to indicate whenthe system is not operating properly. The TPMS malfunction indicator is combined with the low tire pressure telltale.When the system detects a malfunction, the telltale will flash for approximately one min- ute and then remain continuously illuminated.This sequence will continue upon subsequent vehicle start-ups as long as the malfunction exists.When the malfunction indicator is illumi- nated, the system may not be able to detect or signal low tire pressure as intended.TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety of reasons, including the installation of replacement or alternate tires or wheels on the
vehicle that prevent the TPMS from function- ing properly. Always check the TPMS mal- function telltale after replacing one or more tires or wheels on your vehicle to ensure thatthe replacement or alternate tires and wheels allow the TPMS to continue to function prop- erly.

1. If the tire pressure monitoring systemwarning light illuminates, avoid hardbraking, sharp steering maneuvers and high speeds. You should stop and adjust the tires to the proper inflation pressure assoon as possible. Adjust the spare tire at the same time. Refer to “Tires” on page 9-14.
2. If the tire pressure monitoring system warning light remains illuminated afteryou have been driving for about 20 min- utes after you adjust the tire inflation pres- sure, one or more of the tires may have apuncture. Inspect the tire and if it has a puncture, have it repaired by an autho- rized Mitsubishi Motors dealer as soon aspossible.
If the warning light/display illu- minates while driving
NOTE
 In addition, the warning display is displayed on the information screen in the multi-infor-mation display.  When inspecting or adjusting the tire pres- sure, do not apply excessive force to the valve stem to avoid breakage.
 After inspecting or adjusting the tire pres- sure, always reinstall the valve cap on the valve stem. Without the valve cap, dirt or moisture could get into the valve, resulting in damage to thetire inflation pressure sensor.  Do not use metal valve caps, which may cause a metal reaction, resulting in corrosion and damage of the tire inflation pressure sen- sors.  Once adjustments have been made, the warn- ing light will go off after a few minutes ofdriving.WA R N I N G If the warning light/display illuminates while you are driving, avoid hard braking, sharp steering maneuvers and highspeeds. Driving with an under-inflated tire adversely affects vehicle performance and can result in an accident.NOTE

NOTE
 You can adjust to 8 different levels respec- tively for when the tail lights are illuminated and when they are not.  If the vehicle is equipped with the automatic light control, when the light switch is in a position other than the “OFF” position, themeter illumination switches automatically to the adjusted brightness, depending on the brightness outside the vehicle.
 The brightness level of the instruments is stored in memory when the ignition switch is turned off.  If you press and hold the button for longer than about 1 second when the parking lights are illuminated, the brightness level changes to the maximum level. Pressing and holdingthe button for longer than about 1 second again returns the brightness level to the pre- vious level.NOTE

The “---” display can be reset while the igni- tion switch is in the “OFF” position. Whenthe display is reset, the time until the next periodic inspection is displayed and the warn- ing display is no longer displayed when theignition switch is switched from the “OFF” position to the “ON” position. 1. When you lightly press the multi-informa- tion meter switch, the information screen changes to the service reminder displayscreen.
2. Press and hold the multi-information meter switch (for about 2 seconds or more) to display “ ” and make it flash. (If there is no operation for about 10 sec- onds with this indicator flashing, the dis-play returns to the previous screen.) 3. With this indicator flashing, if you lightly press the multi-information meter switch,the screen switches from “---” to “CLEAR”. After that, the time until the next periodic inspection is shown.

This light comes on in the event of a malfunc- tion in the charging system or when the igni- tion switch is turned to the “ON” position (engine off). A warning is also displayed inthe multi-information display. When the engine is started,
the light should go out.
Check to make sure that the light has goneout before driving.

Type 1 Type 2 This warning is displayed if the vehicle is being driven with the parking brake still applied. The warning light in the instrumentcluster only comes on when the parking brake is applied.
CAUTION Driving for a long time with the engine mal- function indicator on may cause more dam- age to the emission control system. This could also affect fuel economy and drivabil- ity. If this indicator does not come on when the ignition key is turned to the “ON” position,have the system checked at an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice. If the engine malfunction indicator comes on while the engine is running, avoid driving athigh speeds. During vehicle operation with the indicator on, the vehicle may not accelerate when youdepress the accelerator pedal. When the vehicle is stationary with the indi- cator on, you must depress the brake pedalmore firmly than usual since the engine idling speed is higher than usual and a vehi- cle with a CVT has a stronger tendency tocreep forward.
NOTE
 Do not disconnect the battery cable when the engine malfunction indicator (“SERVICE ENGINE SOON” or “Check engine light”) is on. The engine electronic control module storescritical OBD information (especially exhaust emission data), which may be lost if the bat- tery cable is disconnected while the enginemalfunction indicator is on. This will make it difficult to diagnose the cause of future prob- lems.

With the lever in the “AUTO” (rain sensor)position, it is possible to adjust the sensitivityof the rain sensor by turning the knob (C).
CAUTION With the ignition switch in the “ON” posi- tion and the lever in the “AUTO” position, the wipers may automatically operate in thesituations described below.• When cleaning the outside surface of thewindshield, if you touch the rain sensor.• When cleaning the outside surface of thewindshield, if you wipe with a cloth the rain sensor.• When using an automatic car wash.• A physical shock is applied to the wind- shield.• A physical shock is applied to the rain sen-sor.
If your hands get trapped, you could suffer injuries or the wipers could malfunction. To deactivate the rain sensor, place the lever in the “OFF” position.NOTE
 To protect the rubber parts of the wipers, this operation of the wipers does not take placeeven if the lever is put in the “AUTO” posi- tion when the vehicle is stationary and the ambient temperature is about 32 °F (0 °C) orlower.  Do not cover the sensor by affixing a sticker or label to the windshield. Also, do not put any water-repellent coating on the wind- shield. The rain sensor would not be able todetect the extent of rain, and the wipers might stop working normally.  In the following cases, the rain sensor may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle checked at an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer ora repair facility of your choice. • When the wipers operate at a constant inter- val despite changes in the extent of rain. • When the wipers do not operate even though it is raining.CAUTION
 The wipers may automatically operate when things such as insects or foreign objects are affixed to the windshield on top of the rain sensor or when the windshield is frozen. Objects affixed to the windshield will stopthe wipers when the wipers cannot remove them. To operate the wipers again, move the lever to the “LO” or “HI” position. Also, thewipers may operate automatically due to strong direct sunlight or electromagnetic wave. To stop the wipers, move the lever tothe “OFF” position.  Contact an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair

If a passcode has been set and the security function is enabled, the voice guide will say “Hands-free system is locked. State the pass- code to continue” when the SPEECH buttonis pressed to enter voice recognition mode. Say the 4-digit passcode number to enter the passcode. If the entered passcode is wrong, the voice guide will say “<4-digit passcode>, Incorrect passcode. Please try again.” Enter the correct passcode.
Use the following procedure to turn off the security function by disabling the passcode. 1. Press the SPEECH button. 2. Say “Setup.”3. Say “Passcode.” 4. The voice guide will say “Passcode is enabled. Would you like to disable it?”Answer “Yes.” Answer “No” to cancel the disabling of the passcode and return to the main menu. 5. When the disabling of the passcode is completed, the voice guide will say “Pass- code is disabled” and the system willreturn to the main menu.

It takes about 2 to 3 minutes to complete thespeaker enrollment process.To ensure the best results, run through the process while in the driver’s seat, in an envi- ronment that is as quiet as possible (whenthere is no rain or strong winds and the vehi- cle windows are closed). Please turn off your phone while in speaker enrollment to preventinterruption of the process. Use the following procedure for speaker enrollment.
NOTE
 Passcode will be required to access the sys- tem after the next ignition cycle.  It is required for a little time after engine stop that the entered passcode is actuallyrecorded in the system. If the ignition switch is made to “ACC” or “ON” or the engine is started immediately after engine stop, thereis a case when the entered passcode is not recorded in the system. At this time, please try to enter the passcode again.

Stop your vehicle in a safe area, put the shift lever (manual transaxle) in the “N” (Neutral) position, or the selector lever {continuously variable transmission(CVT)} in the “P”(PARK) position, and then pull the parking brake lever. 2. Press the SPEECH button. 3. Say “Voice training.” 4. The voice guide will say “This operation must be performed in a quiet environmentwhile the vehicle is stopped. See the owner’s manual for the list of required training phrases. Press and release theSPEECH button when you are ready to begin. Press the HANG-UP button to can- cel at any time.”Press the SPEECH button to start the speaker enrollment process.
5. The voice guide will prompt for phrase 1. Repeat the corresponding phrase listed in table “Enrollment commands” on page5-160. The system will register your voice and then move on to the registration of thenext command. Continue the process until all phrases have been registered. 6. When all enrollment commands have been read out, the voice guide will say “Speaker enrollment is complete.” The system will then end the speaker enroll-ment process and return to the main menu.

You can turn a voice model registered with the speaker enrollment function on and offwhenever you want. You can also retrain the system. Use the following procedure to perform theseactions. 1. Press the SPEECH button. 2. Say “Voice training.” 3. If you have completed a speaker enroll-ment process once already, the voice guide will say either “Enrollment is enabled. Would you like to disable orretrain?” or “Enrollment is disabled. Would you like to enable or retrain?” 4. When enrollment is “enabled,” the voicemodel is on; when enrollment is “dis- abled,” the voice model is off. Say the command that fits your needs.
NOTE
 Speaker enrollment is not possible unless the vehicle is parked. Make sure you park the vehicle in a safe area before attemptingspeaker enrollment.
NOTE
 If you do not start the speaker enrollment process within 3 minutes after pressing the SPEECH button, the speaker enrollment function will time out. The voice guide will say “Speaker enroll-ment has timed out.” The system will then beep and the voice recognition mode will be deactivated. NOTE
 To repeat the most recent voice training com- mand, press and release the SPEECH button.  If you press the HANG-UP button anytime during the process, the system will beep and stop the speaker enrollment process.
NOTE
 Completing the speaker enrollment process will turn on the voice model automatically.  The commands “Help” and “Cancel” will not work in this mode.
