r is designed to sig-
nificantly reduce the
possibility of vehicle
theft. The purpose of the system is to immo-bilize the vehicle if
an invalid start is
attempted. A valid st
art attempt can only be
achieved (subject to ce
rtain conditions) using
a key “registered” to the immobilizer system.All of the keys provided with your new vehi-cle have been program
med to the vehicle’s
electronics.
• Do not take the remote control transmitterapart.• Do not excessively be
nd the key or subject
it to strong impacts.• Keep the remote control transmitter dry.• Keep away from magnetic objects such askey rings.• Keep away from devi
ces that produce mag-
netism, such as audio systems, computersand televisions.• Keep away from devices that emit strongelectromagneti
c waves, such as cellular
phones, wireless devices and high fre-quency equipment (i
ncluding medical
devices).• Do not clean with
ultrasonic cleaners.
• Do not leave the key where it may beexposed to high temperature or high humid-ity.
If you lose your key, to prevent the theft ofthe vehicle immediatel
y contact an autho-
rized Mitsubishi Motors dealer.If you notify an authorized MitsubishiMotors dealer of the key number, they canmake a new key. The key number is stampedon the key number plate. Keep the key num-ber plate in a safe pl
ace separate from the
key itself.NOTE
No keys other than those registered inadvance can be used
to start the engine.

Only keys that have been programmed to thevehicle’s electronics can be used to start thevehicle.If you lose the key, you can order a key fromyour authorized Mitsubi
shi Motors dealer by
referring to the key number.To prevent vehicle theft, the ID code for thevehicle keys must be changed.
Take your vehicle and
all remaining keys to
your authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer tohave your ID code changed.To add a key, you must already have 2 regis-tered keys. You need to register the ID codeto the vehicle.Registering the ID code can be done by your-self (except for vehicles
sold in Canada), or
by your authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer.For you to register the ID code yourself, fol-low the “Customer key programming” proce-dure below.If you choose to have
your authorized Mit-
subishi Motors dealer register the ID code,take your vehicle and
all remaini
ng keys to

your vehicle at your Mitsubishi Motorsdealer) by doing the following:1. Insert the first valid key into the ignitionswitch and turn the key to the “ON” posi-tion for 5 seconds.2. Turn the key to the “OFF” or “LOCK”position and remove the first key.3. Within 30 seconds of removing the firstkey, insert the second valid key into theignition and turn it to the “ON” position.About 10 seconds la
ter, the immobilizer
display will start to blink.
4. When the immobilizer display startsblinking, turn the second valid key to the“OFF” or “LOCK” position and removeit. Within 30 seconds after doing so, inserta blank immobilizer ke
y into the ignition
switch and turn it to the “ON” position.Perform this operation no more than 30seconds after the immobilizer displaystarts blinking. When registration of theID code is complete, the immobilizer dis-play will come on for 30 seconds then gooff. If an error occurs, the blinking immo-bilizer display will
go off during the pro-

Customer key programming (Except for vehicles sold in Canada)
NOTE
Perform the operation when the interrupt dis-play screen is not show
ing. The interrupt dis-
play screen may prevent you from seeing theimmobilizer display.It is not possible to
register a key if:
• the immobilizer disp
lay goes off during the
procedure• the immobilizer disp
lay does not come on
within 30 seconds after step 4.
The procedure will be terminated automati-cally if:• a period of 30 seconds or longer elapsesfrom the moment when the first key isturned to the “OFF” or “LOCK” position tothe moment when the second key is turnedto the “ON” position• a period of 30 seconds or longer elapsesfrom the moment when the second key isturned to the “OFF” or “LOCK” position tothe moment when the blank immobilizerkey is turned to the “ON” position
To use the new remote control transmitters, itis necessary to register
the key with both the
electronic immobilizer
and keyless entry sys-

button is pressed.The keyless entry system does not work ifthe key is in the ignition switch.The remote control tr
ansmitter can be used
from approximately 40
feet (12 m) away.
However, this distan
ce may change if your
vehicle is near a TV transmitting tower, apower station, or a radio station.If the UNLOCK button (2) is pressed whenall doors and the liftgate are locked and nodoors or the liftgate are opened withinapproximately 30 seconds, the doors and theliftgate will automatically re-lock.On a vehicle equipped with the SmartphoneLink Display Audio, the functions can beadjusted on the screen. For details, refer tothe separate owner’s manual.

2. Remove the screw (A) from the remotecontrol transmitter.3. With the Mitsubishi mark facing you,insert the cloth-cov-ered tip of a flat bladescrewdriver into the notch in the remotecontrol transmitter case and use it to openthe case.
4. Remove the old battery.
5. Install a new battery with the +side (B)up.6. Close the remote control transmitter casefirmly.7. Attach the screw (A) removed in step 2.8. Check the keyless entry system to see thatit works.
NOTE
Be sure to perform the procedure with theMitsubishi mark facing you. If the Mitsubi-shi mark is not facing you when you open theremote control transmitter case, the buttonsmay come out.The Federal Communications Commission(FCC) ID number, the Industry Canada (IC)number and the model
number (radio certifi-
cation) are indicated in
the illustrated posi-
tion.

The F.A.S.T.-key must be carried by the driver. The F.A.S.T.-key is required for vehicle operations su
ch as locking and
unlocking the doors and the liftgate, starting the engine
and changing the
operation mode. When
leaving the vehi-
cle, make sure you are carrying the F.A.S.T.-key and then lock the vehicle.
