1-6Safety — Seats, seat belts and supplemental restraint system
WARNING
Head restraints/headrests supple-
ment the other vehicle safety sys-
tems. They may provide additional
protection against injury in certain
rear end collisions. Adjustable head
restraints/headrests must be ad-
justed properly, as specified in this
section. Check the adjustment after
someone else uses the seat. Do not
attach anything to the head re-
straint/headrest stalks or remove
the head restraint/headrest. Do not
use the seat if the head restraint/
headrest has been removed. If the
head restraint/headrest was re-
moved, reinstall and properly adjust
the head restraint/headrest before
an occupant uses the seating posi-
tion. Failure to follow these instruc-
tions can reduce the effectiveness of
the head restraint/headrest. This
may increase the risk of serious
injury or death in a collision.
SSS1007
The illustration shows the seating posi-
tions equipped with head restraints/
headrests.
Indicates the seating position is
equipped with a head restraint.
. Your vehicle is equipped with a head
restraint/headrest that may be inte-
grated, adjustable or non-adjustable.
. Adjustable head restraints/headrests
have multiple notches along the stalk
to lock them in a desired adjustment
position.
. The non-adjustable head restraints/
headrests have a single locking notch
to secure them to the seat frame. .
Proper Adjustment:
— For the adjustable type, align the
head restraint/headrest so the
center of your ear is approximately
level with the center of the head
restraint/headrest.
— If your ear position is still higher than the recommended alignment,
place the head restraint/headrest
at the highest position.
. If the head restraint/headrest has
been removed, ensure that it is re-
installed and locked in place before
riding in that designated seating posi-
tion.

the head restraint/headrest.
1. Pull the head restraint/headrest up tothe highest position.
2. Push and hold the lock knob.
3. Remove the head restraint/headrest from the seat.
4. Store the head restraint/headrest properly in a secure place so it is not
loose in the vehicle.
5. Reinstall and properly adjust the head restraint/headrest before an occu-
pant uses the seating position.
SSS1038
INSTALL (if so equipped)
1. Align the head restraint/headrest stalks with the holes in the seat. Make
sure that the head restraint/headrest
is facing the correct direction. The
stalk with the adjustment notch

could damage the child restraint
anchorages. The child restraint
will not be properly installed
using the damaged anchorage,
and a child could be seriously
injured or killed in a collision.
. If the cargo cover (if so equipped)
contacts the top tether strap
when it is attached to the top
tether anchor, remove the cargo
cover from the vehicle or secure it
on the cargo floor below its at-
tachment location. If the cargo
cover is not removed, it may
damage the top tether strap dur-
ing a collision. Your child could be
seriously injured or killed in a
collision if the child restraint top
tether strap is damaged.
. Do not allow cargo to contact the
top tether strap when it is at-
tached to the top tether anchor.
Properly secure the cargo so it
does not contact the top tether
strap. Cargo that is not properly
secured or cargo that contacts
the top tether strap may damage
the top tether strap during a
collision. Your child could be ser-
iously injured or killed in a colli-
sion if the child restraint top tether strap is damaged.

Front-facing (front passenger seat) — step 1
Refer to all Warnings and Cautions in the
“Child safety” and “Child restraints” sec-
tions before installing a child restraint.
Follow these steps to install a front-facing
child restraint using the vehicle seat belt
in the front passenger seat:
1.If you must install a child restraint in
the front seat, it should be placed in
a front-facing direction only. Move
the seat to the rearmost position.
Child restraints for infants must be
used in the rear-facing direction and
therefore must not be used in the
front seat. 2. Position the child restraint on the seat.
Always follow the child restraint man-
ufacturer’s instructions.
The back of the child restraint should
be secured against the vehicle seat-
back.
If necessary, adjust or remove the
head restraint/headrest to obtain the
correct child restraint fit. If the head
restraint/headrest is removed, store it
in a secure place. Be sure to reinstall
the head restraint/headrest when
the child restraint is removed. See
“Head restraints/headrests” (P.1-6) for
head restraint adjustment, removal
and installation information.
If the seating position does not have
an adjustable head restraint/headrest
and it is interfering with the proper
child restraint fit, try a different child
restraint.
SSS0360B
Front-facing — step 3
3. Route the seat belt tongue through
the child restraint and insert it into the
buckle until you hear and feel the
latch engage. Be sure to follow the
child restraint manufacturer’s instruc-
tions for belt routing.
If the child restraint is equipped with a
top tether strap, route the top tether
strap and secure the tether strap to
the tether anchor point. See “Installing
top tether strap (for Coupe models)”
(P.1-26).

Front-facing — step 4
4. Pull the shoulder belt until the belt isfully extended. At this time, the seat
belt retractor is in the Automatic
Locking Retractor (ALR) mode (child
restraint mode). It reverts to Emer-
gency Locking Retractor (ELR) mode
when the seat belt is fully retracted.
SSS0652
Front-facing — step 5
5. Allow the seat belt to retract. Pull upon the shoulder belt to remove any
slack in the belt.
SSS0653
Front-facing — step 6
6. Remove any additional slack from the seat belt; press downward and rear-
ward firmly in the center of the child
restraint with your knee to compress
the vehicle seat cushion and seatback
while pulling up on the seat belt.
7. Tighten the tether strap according to the manufacturer’s instructions to
remove any slack.

SSS0641
Front-facing — step 8
8. After attaching the child restraint, testit before you place the child in it. Push
it from side to side while holding the
child restraint near the seat belt path.
The child restraint should not move
more than 1 inch (25 mm) from side to
side. Try to tug it forward and check to
see if the belt holds the restraint in
place. If the restraint is not secure,
tighten the seat belt as necessary, or
put the restraint in another seat and
test it again. You may need to try a
different child restraint. Not all child
restraints fit in all types of vehicles.
9. Check to make sure the child restraint is properly secured prior to each use. If the seat belt is not locked, repeat
steps 2 through 8.
SSS0988Front-facing — step 11
10. If the child restraint is installed in the
front passenger seat, push the igni-
tion switch to the ON position. The
front passenger air bag status light
should illuminate. If this light is not
illuminated, see “Front passenger air
bag and status light” (P.1-38). Have the
system checked. It is recommended
you visit a NISSAN dealer for this
service.
After the child restraint is removed and
the seat belt is fully retracted, the ALR
mode (child restraint mode) is canceled.

Do not use the lap/shoulder belt
Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR)
mode when using a booster seat
with the seat belts.
Refer to all Warnings and Cautions in the
“Child safety”, “Child restraints” and “Boos-
ter seats” sections earlier in this section
before installing a child restraint.
Follow these steps to install a booster
seat in the front passenger seat:
SSS0640
1. If you must install a booster seat in
the front seat, adjust the seatback
so that it is upright and then move
the seat to the rearmost position. Do
not move the seat with the booster
seat attached to it.
2. Position the booster seat on the seat. Only place it in a front-facing direc-
tion. Always follow the booster seat
manufacturer’s instructions.
LRS0454
3. The booster seat should be positioned
on the vehicle seat so that it is stable.
If necessary, adjust or remove the
head restraint/headrest to obtain the
correct booster seat fit. If the head
restraint/headrest is removed, store it
in a secure place. Be sure to reinstall
the head restraint/headrest when
the booster seat is removed. See
“Head restraints/headrests” (P.1-6) for
head restraint adjustment, removal
and installation information.
If the seating position does not have
an adjustable head restraint/headrest
and it is interfering with the proper
booster seat fit, try a different booster

The climate controlled seat warms up or
cools down the front seats by blowing
warm or cool air from the surface of the
seat. The switches located on the center
console can be operated independently
of each other.
The surface temperature of the climate
controlled seats is automatically con-
trolled at an optimum temperature. How-
ever, adjust the temperature using the
control knob if the seats are too hot or
cold.
1. Start the engine.
2. Turn the control knob
to the heat
sideor to the cool side. The
indicator lighton the control knob will illuminate.
3. Adjust the desired amount of the air using the control knob
.
4. When the vehicle’s interior is warmed or cooled, and/or before you leave the
vehicle, be sure to turn the control
knob to the OFF position (center). The
indicator light
on the control knob
goes off at the OFF position.
The climate controlled seat has air
filters. If the climate controlled seat is
not functioning properly, it may indi-
cate the air filters may be clogged. To
check the air filters for the climate
controlled seat, it is recommended
you visit a NISSAN dealer.
WARNING
Do not use or allow occupants to use
the climate controlled seat if you or
the occupants cannot monitor seat
temperatures or have an inability to
feel pain in those body parts in
contact with the seat. Use of the
climate controlled seats by such
people could result in serious injury.
CAUTION
. Do not place objects in front of
the intake inlets located behind
and under the front seat. Doing
so could cause improper opera-
tion or interruption of the opera-
tion.
. The battery could run down if the
climate controlled seat is oper-
ated while the engine is not run-
ning.
. Do not use the climate controlled
seat for extended periods or
when no one is using the seat.
. Do not put anything on the seat
which insulates heat, such as a
blanket, cushion, seat cover, etc.
Otherwise, the seat may become
overheated.
. Do not place anything hard or
heavy on the seat or pierce it with
a pin or similar object. This may
result in damage to the climate
controlled seat.
. Any liquid spilled on the seat
should be removed immediately
with a dry cloth.
