Always evenly distribute the cargo on the tubular
roof rack.The maximum total load is 125 lb
(57 kg) evenly distributed.Be careful that your
vehicle does not exceed the Gross Vehicle
Weight Rating (GVWR) or the Gross Axle
Weight Ratings (GAWR front and rear) . The
GVWR and GAWR are located on the SafetyCompliance Certification Label (located on the
driver’s side door jamb pillar) . For more informa-
tion regarding GVWR and GAWR, refer to the
“Technical and consumer information” section of
this manual.
WARNING
Properly secure all cargo with ropes or
straps to help prevent it from sliding or
shifting. In a sudden stop or collision, un-
secured cargo could cause personal
injury.
CAUTION
Use care when placing or removing items
from the roof rack. If you cannot comfort-
ably lift the items onto the roof rack from
the ground, use a ladder or stool.

Installing the tailgate
1. Insert the tailgate into the right side hinge.
2. Hold the tailgate at a 45 degree angle and
insert into the left side hinge.
3. Continue to hold the tailgate at a 45 degree
angle and attach the tailgate support cables.
4. Close the tailgate securely.
Locking the tailgate
To lock the tailgate, turn the key toward the pas-
senger side of the vehicle
s1. To unlock, turn the
key toward the driver side
s2.
TIE DOWN HOOKS
For your convenience, tie down hooks are placed
at each corner of the truck box. These may be
used to help secure cargo loaded into the truck
box.
cThe weight of the cargo load must be evenly
distributed over both the front and the rear
axles.
cAll cargo should be securely fastened with
ropes or straps to prevent it from shifting or
sliding within the vehicle.

TIRE PRESSURE
Maximum inflation pressure
Do not exceed the maximum inflation pressures
shown on the sidewall of the tire
s1.
Tire inflation pressure
Check the tire pressure (including the spare) at
least once a month and always prior to long
distance trips. Incorrect tire pressure may ad-
versely affect tire life and vehicle handling. Tire
pressure should be checked when tires areCOLD. Tires are considered COLD after the
vehicle has been parked for three or more hours,
or driven less than 1 mile (1.6 km) at moderate
speeds. COLD tire pressures are shown on the
tire placard affixed to the inside of the glove box
lid.
WARNING
cImproperly inflated tires can fail sud-
denly and cause an accident.
cThe vehicle weight capacity is indicated
on the F.M.V.S.S. certification label. Do
not load your vehicle beyond this ca-
pacity. Overloading your vehicle may
result in reduced tire life, unsafe oper-
ating conditions due to premature tire
failure, or unfavorable handling charac-
teristics and could also lead to a seri-
ous accident. Loading beyond the
specified capacity may also result in
failure of other vehicle components.
cBefore taking a long trip, or whenever
you heavily load your vehicle, use a tire
pressure gauge to ensure that the tire
pressures are at the specified level.cDo not drive your vehicle over 85 MPH
(137 km/h) unless it is equipped with
high speed rated tires. Driving faster
than 85 MPH (137 km/h) may result in
tire failure, loss of control and possible
injury.

tires, refer to Important Tire Safety In-
formation (US) or Tire Safety Informa-
tion (Canada) in the Warranty Informa-
tion Booklet.
TYPES OF TIRES
WARNING
cWhen changing or replacing tires, be
sure all four tires are of the same type
(i.e., Summer, All Season or Snow) and
construction. A NISSAN dealer may be
able to help you with information about
tire type, size, speed rating and avail-
ability. Replacement tires may have a
lower speed rating than the factory
equipped tires, and may not match the
potential maximum vehicle speed.
Never exceed the maximum speed rat-
ing of the tire.

Use the following steps to mount the front license
plate:
1. Remove the two screw gromments from the
glove box.
2. Carefully drill a hole using a 0.39 inch (10
mm) drill bit at each location mark (small
dimple) on the bumper fascia
sA.
3. Insert one grommet into each hole
sB.
4. Insert a small screwdriver into the grommet
to turn the plastic insert.
5. Install the license plate with two M5 x 25 mm
bolts
sC.
CAUTION
cIt is extremely dangerous to ride in a
cargo area inside a vehicle. In a colli-
sion, people riding in these areas are
more likely to be seriously injured or
killed.
cDo not allow people to ride in any area
of your vehicle that is not equipped with
seats and seat belts.
cBe sure everyone in your vehicle is in a
seat and using a seat belt properly.
TERMS
It is important to familiarize yourself with the fol-
lowing terms before loading your vehicle:
cCurb Weight (actual weight of your vehicle) -
vehicle weight including: standard and op-
tional equipment, fluids, emergency tools, and
spare tire assembly. This weightdoes not
include passengers and cargo.
cGVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) - curb weight
plus the combined weight of passengers and
cargo.
cGVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) - maxi-
mum total weight (load) limit specified for the
vehicle.

cGAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating) - maxi-
mum weight (load) limit specified for the front
or rear axle.
DETERMINING VEHICLE LOAD
CAPACITY
The load capacity of this vehicle is determined by
weight, not by available cargo space. For ex-
ample, a roof rack, bike carrier, or similar equip-
ment does not increase load carrying capacity of
your vehicle.
To determine vehicle load capacity:
Vehicle weight can be determined by using a
commercial-grade scale, found at places such as
a truck stop, gravel quarry, grain elevator, or a
scrap metal recycling facility.
1. Determine the curb weight of your vehicle.
2. Compare the curb weight amount to the
GVWR specified for your vehicle to deter-
mine how much more weight your vehicle
can carry.
3. After loading (cargo and passengers) , re-
weigh your vehicle to determine if either
GVWR or GAWR for your vehicle is ex-
ceeded. If GVWR is exceeded, remove
cargo as necessary. If either the front or rear
GAWR is exceeded, shift the load or remove
cargo as necessary.
SECURING THE LOAD
For your convenience, tie down hooks are placed
at each corner of the truck box. These may be
used to help secure cargo loaded into the truck
box.
WARNING
cProperly secure all cargo with ropes or
straps to help prevent it from sliding or
shifting. Do not place cargo higher than
the seatbacks. In a sudden stop or col-
lision, unsecured cargo could cause
personal injury.cDo not load your vehicle any heavier
than the GVWR or the maximum front
and rear GAWRs. If you do, parts of your
vehicle can break, tire damage could
occur, or it can change the way your
vehicle handles. This could result in
loss of control and cause personal
injury.
LOADING TIPS
cThe GVW must not exceed GVWR or GAWR
as specified on the F.M.V.S.S. Certification
Label.
cDo not load the front and rear axle to the
GAWR. Doing so will exceed the GVWR.
cLoads should be spread out, and cargo should
be properly secured. Large or heavy objects
should be placed toward the front of the truck
box to help prevent shifting.
CAUTION
Overloading can shorten the life of the
vehicle. Failures caused by overloading
are not covered by the vehicle’s warranty.

When the truck is used to carry a slide-in camper,
the total cargo load of the truck consists of the
camper manufacturer’s weight figure, plus:
cthe weight of installed additional camper
equipment not included in the camper manu-
facturer’s weight figure,
cthe weight of camper cargo,
cand the weight of occupants in the camper.
The total cargo load should not exceed the
truck’s pay load weight rating and the camper’s
center of gravity should fall within the truck’s
recommended center of gravity location zone
when installed.
WARNING
Overloading or improper loading can ad-
versely affect vehicle handling, braking
and performance and may lead to
accidents.
PAYLOAD WEIGHT CAPACITY
The payload weight capacity shown on following
charts indicate the maximum total weight of pas-
sengers, optional equipment (air conditioning,
trailer hitch, etc) and cargo that your vehicle is
designed to carry.
Before driving a loaded vehicle, confirm that you
do not exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
(GVWR) or the Gross Axle Weight Rating
(GAWR) for your vehicle. See ’’Vehicle Loading
Information’’ earlier in this section for details.
Also check tires for proper inflation pressures.
