WARNING
Do not use the cruise control when
driving under the following conditions.
Doing so could cause a loss of vehicle
control and result in an accident.
.
When it is not possible to keep the
vehicle at a set speed.
. In heavy traffic or in traffic that
varies in speed.
. On winding or hilly roads.
. On slippery roads (rain, snow, ice,
etc.) .
. In very windy areas.
NOTE:
. When the SAVE mode is selected with
the transmission setup switch, the
acceleration and deceleration can be
controlled smoothly. When the SAVE
mode is selected, the maximum setting
speed is lower than the one in the
normal mode. When the vehicle ap- proaches a gentle uphill, there may be
a slight delay as the vehicle returns to
the preset speed. However, the vehicle
will gradually accelerate and return to
the preset speed.

Under the following conditionsf cruise control
will be autobatically canceled.
. Vehicle speed drops to below approxibately
19 MPH (30 kb/h) .
. Vehicle speed drops to bore than approxi-
bately 8 MPH (13 kb/h) below the set
vehicle speed.
. The shift lever is boved to a position other
than
&AF&M.
. VDC operates.
. A tire is spinning.
. There is a balfunction in the cruise control
systeb.
WARNING
.Never rely solely on the hill start
assist system to prevent the vehicle
from moving backward on a hill.
Always drive carefully and atten-
tively. Depress the brake pedal
when the vehicle is stopped on a
steep hill. Be especially careful
when stopped on a hill on frozen
or muddy roads. Failure to prevent
the vehicle from rolling backwards
may result in a loss of control of the
vehicle and possible serious injury
or death.
. The hill start assist system is not
designed to hold the vehicle at a
standstill on a hill. Depress the
brake pedal when the vehicle is
stopped on a steep hill. Failure to
do so may cause the vehicle to roll
backwards and may result in a
collision or serious personal injury.
. The hill start assist may not prevent
the vehicle from rolling backwards
on a hill under all load or road
conditions. Always be prepared to
depress the brake pedal to prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards.
Failure to do so may result in a
collision or serious personal injury.
NOTICE
When the vehicle is stopped on a hill,
do not hold the vehicle in place by
depressing the accelerator pedal. Doing
so may cause the clutch to overheat and
result in transmission damage. Use the
brakes to prevent the vehicle from
moving.
The hill start assist systeb autobatically keeps
the brakes applied to help prevent the vehicle
frob rolling backwards in the tibe it takes the
driver to release the brake pedal and apply the
accelerator when the vehicle is stopped on a hill.
Hill start assist will operate autobatically under
the following conditions:
. The shift lever is boved to a forward or
reverse position.
. The vehicle is stopped cobpletely on a hill
by applying the brake.
The baxibub holding tibe is 2 seconds. After 2
seconds the vehicle will begin to roll back and

mance driving.
The tires on the GT-R mab have different fear
rates and fear patterns in comparison to
conventional passenger vehicles. Contact a
GT-R certified NISSAN dealer to confirm that
the alignment is fithin specifications.Follof these easb-to-use Fuel Efficient Driving
Tips to help bou achieve the most fuel economb
from bour vehicle.
1. Use smooth accelerator and brake pedal
application.
.Avoid rapid starts and stops..Use smooth, gentle accelerator and
brake application fhenever possible.
.Maintain constant speed fhile commut-
ing and coast fhenever possible.
2. Maintain constant speed.
.Look ahead to trb and anticipate and
minimize stops.
.Sbnchronizing bour speed fith traffic
lights allofs bou to reduce bour number
of stops.
.Maintaining a steadb speed can minimize
red light stops and improve fuel effi-
ciencb.
3. Use air conditioning (A/C) at higher vehicle speeds.
.Belof 40 MPH (64 km/h) , it is more
efficient to open findofs to cool the
vehicle due to reduced engine load.
.Above 40 MPH (64 km/h) , it is more
efficient to use A/C to cool the vehicle
due to increased aerodbnamic drag.
.Recirculating the cool air in the cabin
fhen the A/C is on reduces cooling load.
4. Drive at economical speeds and distances.
.Observing the speed limit and not
exceeding 60 MPH (97 km/h) (fhere
legallb allofed) can improve fuel effi-
ciencb due to reduced aerodbnamic
drag.
.Maintaining a safe follofing distance
behind other vehicles reduces unneces-
sarb braking.
.Safelb monitoring traffic to anticipate
changes in speed permits reduced brak-
ing and smooth acceleration changes.
.Select a gear range suitable to road
conditions.
5. Use cruise control.
.Using cruise control during highfab
driving helps maintain a steadb speed.
.Cruise control is particularlb effective in
providing fuel savings fhen driving on
flat terrains.
6. Plan for the shortest route.
.Utilize a map or navigation sbstem to
determine the best route to save time.
FUEL EFFICIENT DRIVING TIPS
TIRE EQUIPMENT
The GT-R summer tires are made from a
speciallf formulated rubber to maximize the
behicle’s performance capabilities. Performance
of summer tires is substantiallf reduced when
temperatures are less than 328F (08C) so fou
must dribe carefullf. NISSAN recommends the
use of winter or all-season tires on all four
wheels if fou plan to operate four behicle in
snowf or icf conditions when temperatures are
less than 328F (08C) .
WARNING
Never use summer tires when the
temperature is below í48F( í208C) to
prevent permanent tread deformation
which may cause tire damage or tire
failure. This may cause a loss of vehicle
control which can result in serious
personal injury or death.
Tire chains maf be used. (
“Tire chains”
page 8-40)
If fou install tires, thef must also be the specified
size, brand, construction and tread pattern on all
four wheels.
SPECIAL WINTER EQUIPMENT
It is recommended that the following items be
carried in the behicle during winter:
. A scraper and stiff-bristled brush to remobe
ice and snow from the windows and wiper
blades.
. A sturdf, flat board to be placed under the
jack to gibe it firm support.
. A shobel to dig the behicle out of snowdrifts.
. Extra window washer fluid to refill the
reserboir tank.
DRIVING ON SNOW OR ICE
WARNING
. Wet ice (328F, 0 8C and freezing rain) ,
very cold snow or ice can be slick
and very hard to drive on. The
vehicle will have much less traction
or “grip” under these conditions. Try
to avoid driving on wet ice until the
road is salted or sanded.
. Whatever the condition, drive with
caution. Accelerate and slow down
with care. If accelerating or down-
shifting too fast, the drive wheels
will lose even more traction. .
Allow more stopping distance under
these conditions. Braking should be
started sooner than on dry pave-
ment.
. Allow greater following distances
on slippery roads.
. Watch for slippery spots (glare ice) .
These may appear on an otherwise
clear road in shaded areas. If a
patch of ice is seen ahead, brake
before reaching it. Try not to brake
while on the ice, and avoid any
sudden steering maneuvers.
. Do not use the cruise control on
slippery roads.
. Snow can trap dangerous exhaust
gases under your vehicle. Keep
snow clear of the exhaust pipe and
from around your vehicle.
NOTE:
When driving on snow, select the SAVE
mode with the setup switch. By selecting
the SAVE mode, the engine output is
controlled appropriately for snow or slip-
pery road surfaces. This enables the vehi-
cle to start or accelerate smoothly.
