the jumper cablestothe booster vehicle

before turning theignition switchanddisenga-
ging thesteering lock.
2. Apply theparking brake.
3. Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)model:
Move theshift lever tothe ªPº (Park) position.
Manual Transmission (MT)model: Movetheshift
lever tothe ªNº (Neutral) position.
4. Switch offallunnecessary electricalsystems
(headlights, heater,airconditioner, etc.).
5. Place theignition switchinthe ªLOCKº position. 6.
Remove thevent caps, ifequipped, onthe battery .
7. Cover thebattery withafirmly wrung outmoist
cloth toreduce thehazard ofan explosion.
8. Connect thejumper cablesinthe sequence as
illustrated (

CAUTION:
. Always connect positive +topositive +and
negative 7tobody ground, NOTto the
battery's negative7.
. Besure thatthejumper cablesdonot touch
moving partsinthe engine compartment.
. Besure thatthejumper cable's clamps do
not contact anyother metal.
9. Start theengine ofthe booster vehicle

and let
it run forafew minutes.
10. Depress theaccelerator pedalofthe booster
vehicle

B
at about 2,000 rpm.
11. Start theengine ofthe jumped vehicle

A
in the
normal manner.
CAUTION:
Never keepthestarter motorengaged formore
than 10seconds. Ifthe engine doesnotstart
right away, placetheignition switchinthe ªOFFº
position andwait atleast 10seconds before
trying again.
12. After theengine isstarted, carefully disconnect
the jumper cablesinthe opposite sequence from
that illustrated (

13. Remove anddispose ofthe cloth asitmay be
contaminated withcorrosive acid.

must befollowed. Incorrecttowingequipment could
damage yourvehicle. To assure propertowing andto
prevent accidental damagetoyour vehicle, NISSAN
recommends thatyouhave professional roadassis-
tance personnel towyour vehicle. Itis advisable to
have theprofessional roadassistant carefullyreadthe
following precautions.

Wheel alignment andbalance:

If the vehicle shouldpulltoeither sidewhile driving on
a straight andlevel road, orifyou detect uneven or
abnormal tirewear, theremaybeaneed forwheel
alignment. Ifthe steering wheelorseat vibrates at
normal highway speeds,wheelbalancing maybe needed.
Windshield:

Clean thewindshield onaregular basis.Check the
windshield atleast every sixmonths forcracks orother
damage. Repairasnecessary .
