INTELLIGENT KEY OPERATING
RANGE
The Intelligent Key functions can only be
used when the Intelligent Key is within
the specified operating range from the
request switch
.
When the Intelligent Key battery is dis-
charged or strong radio waves are pre-
sent near the operating location, the
Intelligent Key system’s operating range
becomes narrower, and the Intelligent
Key may not function properly.
The operating range is within 31.50 in (80
cm) from each request switch
.
If the Intelligent Key is too close to the door glass, handle or rear bumper, the
request switches may not function.
When the Intelligent Key is within the
operating range, it is possible for anyone
who does not carry the Intelligent Key to
push the request switch to lock/unlock
the doors including the liftgate.

DOOR LOCKS/UNLOCKS PRECAU-
TION
.
Do not push the door handle request
switch with the Intelligent Key held in
your hand as illustrated. The close
distance to the door handle will cause
the Intelligent Key system to have
difficulty recognizing that the Intelli-
gent Key is outside the vehicle.
. After locking with the door handle
request switch, verify the doors are
securely locked by testing them.
. To prevent the Intelligent Key from
being left inside the vehicle, make sure
you carry the key with you and then
lock the doors.

Verify the location of all Intelligent Keys that are programmed for the vehicle. If another Intelligent Key is in range or inside the vehicle,
the vehicle system may respond differently than expected.

WARNING
To avoid risk of injury or death, do
not use the remote engine start
function when the vehicle is in an
enclosed area such as a garage.

The remote engine startbutton is on
the Intelligent Key if the vehicle has
remote engine start function. This func-
tion allows the engine to start from
outside the vehicle.
Some systems, such as the air conditioner
system, will turn on during a remote start,
if the system was on the last time the
ignition switch was turned off.
Laws in some local communities may
restrict the use of remote starters. For
example, some laws require a person
using remote start to have the vehicle in
view. Check local regulations for any
requirements.
Other conditions may affect the remote engine start function. See “Conditions the
remote engine start will not work” (P.3-
23).
Other conditions can affect the perfor-
mance of the Intelligent Key transmitter.
See “Intelligent Key system” (P.3-11) for
additional information.
REMOTE ENGINE START OPERATING
RANGE
The remote engine start function can
only be used when the Intelligent Key is
within the specified operating range from
the vehicle.
When the Intelligent Key battery is dis-
charged or other strong radio wave
sources are present near the operating
location, the Intelligent Key operating
range becomes narrower, and the Intelli-
gent Key may not function properly.
The remote engine start operating range
is approximately 197 ft (60 m) from the
vehicle.
REMOTE STARTING THE ENGINE
To use the remote start function to start
the engine, perform the following:
1. Aim the Intelligent Key at the vehicle.
2. Push the LOCK
button to lock all
doors.

When you use this system, make sure the
engine is running.
If you use the system with the engine
not running for a long time, it will
discharge the battery, and the engine
will not start.

HOW TO USE TOUCH SCREEN
CAUTION
.The glass screen on the liquid
crystal display may break if it is
hit with a hard or sharp object. If
the glass screen breaks, do not
touch it. Doing so could result in
an injury.
. To clean the display, never use a
rough cloth, alcohol, benzine,
thinner or any kind of solvent or
paper towel with a chemical
cleaning agent. They will scratch
or deteriorate the panel.
. Do not splash any liquid such as
water or car fragrance on the
display. Contact with liquid will cause the system to malfunction.
To help ensure safe driving, some func-
tions cannot be operated while driving.
The on-screen functions that are not
available while driving will be “grayed
out” or muted.
Park the vehicle in a safe location and
then operate the navigation system.
WARNING
. ALWAYS give your full attention to
driving.
. Avoid using vehicle features that
could distract you. If distracted,
you could lose control of your

Touch screen operation
Selecting the item:
Touch an item to select. To select the
“Audio” key, touch the “Audio” key
on
the screen.
Adjusting the item:
Touch the “+” key or the “−” key to adjust
the settings of an item. Touch the up
arrow to scroll up the page. Touch the
down arrow to scroll down the page.
Inputting characters:
Touch the letter or the number key. There
are some options available when input-
ting characters.

When installing a car phone or a CB radio
in your vehicle, be sure to observe the
following precautions, otherwise the new
equipment may adversely affect the elec-
tronic control modules and electronic
control system harness.
WARNING
.A cellular phone should not be
used for any purpose while driv-
ing so full attention may be given
to vehicle operation. Some juris-
dictions prohibit the use of cellu-
lar phones while driving.
. If you must make a call while your
vehicle is in motion, the hands-
free cellular phone operational
mode (if so equipped) is highly
recommended. Exercise extreme
caution at all times so full atten-
tion may be given to vehicle
operation.
. If a conversation in a moving
vehicle requires you to take
notes, pull off the road to a safe
location and stop your vehicle
before doing so.
CAUTION
.Keep the antenna as far away as
possible from the electronic con-
trol modules.
. Keep the antenna wire more than
8 in (20 cm) away from the
electronic control system har-
ness. Do not route the antenna
wire next to any harness.
. Adjust the antenna standing-
wave ratio as recommended by
the manufacturer.
. Connect the ground wire from the
CB radio chassis to the body.
. For details, it is recommended
you visit a NISSAN dealer.

.Use a phone after stopping your
vehicle in a safe location. If you
have to use a phone while driving,
exercise extreme caution at all
times so full attention may be
given to vehicle operation.
. If you are unable to devote full
attention to vehicle operation
while talking on the phone, pull
off the road to a safe location and
stop your vehicle.
CAUTION
To avoid draining the vehicle battery,
use a phone after starting the en-
gine.
Your vehicle is equipped with the Blue-
tooth® Hands-Free Phone System. If you
have a compatible Bluetooth® enabled
cellular phone, you can set up the wire-
less connection between your cellular
phone and the in-vehicle phone module.
With Bluetooth® wireless technology, you
can make or receive a hands-free tele-
phone call with your cellular phone in the

vehicle.
Once your cellular phone is connected to
the in-vehicle phone module, no other
phone connecting procedure is required.
Your phone is automatically connected
with the in-vehicle phone module when
the ignition switch is placed in the ACC or
ON position with the previously con-
nected cellular phone turned on and
carried in the vehicle.
NOTE:
Some devices require the user to accept
connections to other Bluetooth® de-
vices. If your phone does not connect
automatic ally to the system, consult
the phone’s owner’s manual for details
on device operation.
You can connect up to five different
Bluetooth® cellular phones to the in-
vehicle phone module. However, you can
talk on only one cellular phone at a time.
Before using the Bluetooth® Hands-Free
Phone System, refer to the following
notes.
.Set up the wireless connection be-
tween a compatible cellular phone
and the in-vehicle phone module be-
fore using the Hands-Free Phone
System. .
Some Bluetooth® enabled cellular
phones may not be recognized by
the in-vehicle phone module. Please

commended phone list.
. You will not be able to use a hands-
free phone under the following condi-
tions:
— Your vehicle is outside of the cel-
lular service area.
— Your vehicle is in an area where it is difficult to receive a cellular signal;
such as in a tunnel, in an under-
ground parking garage, near a tall
building or in a mountainous area.
— Your cellular phone is locked to prevent it from being dialed.
. When the radio wave condition is not
ideal or ambient sound is too loud, it
may be difficult to hear the other
person’s voice during a call.
. Do not place the cellular phone in an
area surrounded by metal or far away
from the in-vehicle phone module to
prevent tone quality degradation and
wireless connection disruption.
. While a cellular phone is connected
through the Bluetooth® wireless con-
nection, the battery power of the
cellular phone may discharge quicker
than usual. The Bluetooth® Hands- Free Phone System cannot charge
cellular phones.
. If the Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone
System seems to be malfunctioning,

bleshooting help.
. Some cellular phones or other devices
may cause interference or a buzzing
noise to come from the audio system
speakers. Storing the device in a

KEY POSITIONS
LOCK: Normal parking position (0)
OFF: (Not used) (1)
This position activates electrical acces-
sories such as the radio when the engine
is not running.
ON: Normal operating position (2)
This position turns on the ignition system
and the electrical accessories.
START: (3)
This position starts the engine. As soon as
the engine has started, release the key. It
automatically returns to the ON position.
WARNING
Do not operate the push-button
ignition switch while driving the ve-
hicle except in an emergency. (The
engine will stop when the ignition
switch is pushed 3 consecutive times
or the ignition switch is pushed and
held for more than 2 seconds.) If the
engine stops while the vehicle is
being driven, this could lead to a
crash and serious injury.
Before operating the push-button igni-
tion switch, be sure to move the shift
lever to the P (Park) position (for Con-
tinuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
models) or the shift lever to the N
(Neutral) position (for Manual Transmis-
sion (MT) models).
