EVAP LEAK CHECK
Work ProcedureINFOID:0000000009462869
CAUTION:
• Never use compressed air or a high pressure pump.
• Never exceed 4.12 kPa (0.042 kg/cm
2, 0.6 psi) of pressure in EVAP system.
NOTE:
• Do not start engine.
• Improper installation of EVAP service port adapter (com mercial service tool) to the EVAP service port may
cause a leakage.
WITH CONSULT
1. To locate the EVAP leakage, install EVAP service port adapter (commercial service tool) and pressure pump to EVAP service
port.
2. Turn ignition switch ON.
3. Select the “EVAP SYSTEM CLOSE” of “WORK SUPPORT MODE” with CONSULT.
4. Touch “START”. A bar graph (Pressure indicating display) will appear on the screen.
5. Apply positive pressure to the EVAP system until the pressure indicator reaches the middle of the bar graph.
6. Remove EVAP service port adapter (commercial service tool) and hose with pressure pump.
7. Locate the leakage using a leakage detector (commercial ser- vice tool). Refer to EC-580, "EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYS-
TEM : System Description".
WITHOUT CONSULT
1. To locate the EVAP leakage, install EVAP service port adapter
(commercial service tool) and pressure pump to EVAP service
port.
2. Apply battery voltage between the terminals of EVAP canister vent control valve to ma ke a closed EVAP system.
3. To locate the leakage, deliver positive pressure to the EVAP sys- tem until pressure gauge points r each 1.38 to 2.76 kPa (0.014 to
0.028 kg/cm
2, 0.2 to 0.4 psi).
4. Remove EVAP service port adapter (commercial service tool) and hose with pressure pump.

INSPECTION
Make sure the mounting conditions (looseness, back lash) of each component and component conditions
(wear, damage) are normal.
LOWER BALL JOINT END PLAY
1. Set front wheels in a straight-ahead position. Do not depress brake pedal.
2. Place an iron bar or similar tool between upper link and steering knuckle.
3. Measure axial end play by prying it up and down.Refer to FSU-26, "Ball Joint"
.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage ball joint boot. Do not damage the installation position by applying
excessive force.
SHOCK ABSORBER
Check for oil leakage, damage and repl ace if malfunction is detected.
WHEEL ALIGNMENT
Description
Measure wheel alignment under unladen conditions.
NOTE:
"Unladen conditions" means that fuel, engine coolant, and lubricant are full. Spare tire, jack, hand tools and
mats are in designated positions.
General Information and Recommendations
• A four-wheel thrust alignment should be performed.
- This type of alignment is re commended for any NISSAN vehicle.
- The four-wheel "thrust" process helps ensure that t he vehicle is properly aligned and the steering wheel is
centered.
- The alignment rack itself should be capable of accepting any NISSAN vehicle.
- The rack should be checked to ensure that it is level.
• Make sure the machine is properly calibrated.
- Your alignment equipment should be regularly ca librated in order to give correct information.
- Check with the manufacturer of your specific equi pment for their recommended Service/Calibration Sched-
ule.
Preliminary Check
Check the following:
1. Tires for improper air pressure and wear.
2. Road wheels for runout. Refer to WT-60, "Road Wheel"
.
3. Wheel bearing axial end play. Refer to FAX-27, "Wheel Bearing"
.
4. Transverse link ball joint axial end play. Refer to FSU-11, "Removal and Installation"
.
5. Shock absorber operation.
6. Each mounting part of axle and suspension for looseness and deformation.
7. Each of suspension member, shock absorber, upper link and transverse link for cracks, deformation and other damage.
8. Vehicle height (posture).
Alignment Process
IMPORTANT:
Use only the alignment specificati ons listed in this Service Manual.
• When displaying the alignment settings, m any alignment machines use "indicators" Do not use these indi-
cators. : (Green/red, plus or minus, Go/No Go).
- The alignment specifications programmed into your machine that operate these indicators may not be cor-
rect.

RSU-6
< PERIODIC MAINTENANCE >
REAR SUSPENSION ASSEMBLY
• Check the wheelarch height in the unladen condition. Refer to RSU-17, "Wheelarch Height (Unladen*1)".
GENERAL INFORMATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
1. A Four-Wheel Thrust Alignment should be performed.
• This type of alignment is recommended for any NISSAN vehicle.
• The four-wheel “thrust” process helps ensure that the vehicle is properly aligned and the steering wheel
is centered.
• The alignment machine itself should be ca pable of accepting any NISSAN vehicle.
• The alignment machine should be checked to ensure that it is level.
2. Make sure the alignment machine is properly calibrated. • Your alignment machine should be regularly calibrated in order to give correct information.
• Check with the manufacturer of your specific al ignment machine for their recommended Service/Cali-
bration Schedule.
THE ALIGNMENT PROCESS
IMPORTANT: Use only the alignment specifications listed in this Service Manual. Refer to RSU-17,
"Wheelarch Height (Unladen*1)".
1. When displaying the alignment settings, many alignm ent machines use “indicators”: (Green/red, plus or
minus, Go/No Go). Do NOT use these indicators.
• The alignment specifications programmed into your alignment machine that operate these indicators
may not be correct.
• This may result in an ERROR.
2. Most camera-type alignment machines are equipped with both "Rolling Compensation" method and optional "Jacking Compensation" method to "com pensate" the alignment targets or head units.
"Rolling Compensation" is the preferred method.
• If using the "Rolling Compensation" method, after installing the alignment targets or head units, push or pull on the rear wheel to move the vehicle. Do not push or pull the vehicle body.
• If using the "Jacking Compensation" method, after in stalling the alignment targets or head units, raise
the vehicle and rotate the wheels 1/2 turn both ways.
NOTE:
Do not use the "Rolling Compensation" method if you are using sensor-type alignment equipment.
• Follow all instructions for the alignment machine you are using for more information.
CAMBER and TOE
• Camber and toe are both set by adjustment of the fr ont lower link and rear lower link adjusting bolts.
1. Loosen the nuts at the adjustment points on the front lower link and rear lower link.
2. Adjust the camber and toe by turning bolt (1) on front lower link (2).
3. Adjust the camber and toe by turning bolt (1) on rear lower link (2).
