After the headlights automatically turn off with the
headlight switch in theorposition,
the headlights will illuminate again for 5 minutes if
the headlight switch is moved to the OFF position
and then turned to the
orposition.
CAUTION
cBe sure to turn the light switch to the
OFF position when you leave the ve-
hicle for extended periods of time, oth-
erwise the battery will go dead.
cNever leave the light switch on when
the engine is not running for extended
periods of time even if the headlights
turn off automatically.
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM
(Canada only)
The headlights automatically illuminate at a re-
duced intensity when the engine is started with
the parking brake released. The daytime running
lights operate with the headlight switch in the
OFF position or in the
position. Turn the
headlight switch to theposition for full
illumination when driving at night.
If the parking brake is applied before the engine is
started, the daytime running lights do not illumi-
nate. The daytime running lights illuminate whenthe parking brake is released. The daytime run-
ning lights will remain on until the ignition switch
is turned off.
WARNING
When the daytime running light system is
active, tail lights on your vehicle are not
on. It is necessary at dusk to turn on your
headlights. Failure to do so could cause
an accident injuring yourself and others.
INSTRUMENT BRIGHTNESS
CONTROL
The instrument brightness control operates when
the headlight control switch is in
the
,or AUTO position (with auto-
lights activated) .
Turn the control to adjust the brightness of instru-
ment panel lights when driving at night.

TURN SIGNAL SWITCH
Turn signal
s1Move the lever up or down to signal the
turning direction. When the turn is com-
pleted, the turn signals cancel automatically.
Lane change signal
s2To signal a lane change, move the lever up or
down to the point where the indicator light
begins to flash, but the lever does not latch.
FOG LIGHT SWITCH (if so equipped)
To turn the fog lights on, turn the headlight switch
to theposition, then turn the fog light
switch to theposition. To turn them off,
turn the fog light switch to the OFF position.
The headlights must be on for the fog lights to
operate.Push the switch on to warn other drivers when
you must stop or park under emergency condi-
tions. All turn signal lights flash.WARNING
cIf stopping for an emergency, be sure to
move the vehicle well off the road.
cDo not use the hazard warning flashers
while moving on the highway unless
unusual circumstances force you to
drive so slowly that your vehicle might
become a hazard to other traffic.
cTurn signals do not work when the haz-
ard warning flasher lights are on.

The flashers will operate with the ignition switch
in any position.
Some state laws may prohibit the use of
the hazard warning flasher switch while
driving.
To turn on the cargo lamp, push the switch down
to the ON position. The tailgate lights (if so
equipped) will also illuminate when the cargo
lamp switch is in the ON position.
CAUTION
Be sure to turn the light switch to the OFF
position when you leave the vehicle for
extended periods of time, otherwise the
battery will go dead.To sound the horn, push the center pad area of
the steering wheel.
WARNING
Do not disassemble the horn. Doing so
could affect proper operation of the
supplemental front air bag system. Tam-
pering with the supplemental front air bag
system may result in serious personal
injury.

The front seats are warmed by built-in heaters (if
so equipped) .
1. Start the engine.
2. Push the
(low) or(high) posi-
tion of the switch, as desired, depending on
the temperature. The indicator light in the
switch will illuminate.
The heater is controlled by a thermostat,
automatically turning the heater on and off.
The indicator light will remain on as long as
the switch is on.
3.
When the seat is warmed or before you leave
the vehicle, be sure to turn the switch off.
CAUTION
cDo not use the seat heater for extended
periods or when no one is using the
seat.
cDo not put anything on the seat which
insulates heat, such as a blanket, cush-
ion, seat cover, etc. Otherwise, the seat
may become overheated.
cDo not place anything hard or heavy on
the seat or pierce it with a pin or similar
object. This may result in damage to the
heater.
cAny liquid spilled on the heated seat
should be removed immediately with a
dry cloth.
cWhen cleaning the seat, never use
gasoline, benzine, thinner, or any simi-
lar materials.
cIf any abnormalities are found or the
heated seat does not operate, turn the
switch off and have the system checked
by your NISSAN dealer.
cThe battery could run down if the seat
heater is operated while the engine is
not running.The vehicle should be driven with the Vehicle
Dynamic Control (VDC) system on for most driv-
ing conditions.
If the vehicle is stuck in mud or snow, the VDC
system reduces the engine output to reduce
wheel spin. The engine speed will be reduced
even if the accelerator is depressed to the floor. If
maximum engine power is needed to free a stuck
vehicle, turn the VDC system off.
To turn off the VDC system, push the VDC OFF
switch. The
indicator will come on.
Push the VDC OFF switch again or restart the
engine and the system will operate normally. See
“Vehicle dynamic control (VDC) system” in the
“Starting and driving” section.

CAUTION
cDo not use the electronic locking rear
differential system on dry pavement.
Doing so could damage drivetrain
components.
cDo not drive the vehicle at speeds faster
than 12 mph (20 km/h) when the system
is engaged. Doing so could damage
drivetrain components.
cDo not turn on the electronic locking
rear differential system while the tires
are spinning. Doing so could damage
drivetrain components.Activate the electronic locking rear differential
system when one of the rear wheels has lost
traction or when the vehicle is driven in off-road
conditions such as in mud, snow or sand.
To activate the electronic locking rear differential
system:
cthe 4WD shift switch must be in the 4LO
position,
cthe vehicle must be stopped or moving at
speeds below 4 mph (7 km/h) ,
cand the electronic locking rear differential
system switch must be ON.
Initially, the indicator light flashes when the sys-
tem is first turned on. When the system fully
engages, the light remains on.
The indicator light flashes if the switch is on and
all conditions for system activation are not met or
if the system becomes disengaged for any rea-
son.
To turn off the electronic locking rear differential
system, push the switch to the OFF position.
The electronic locking rear differential system is
automatically disengaged when the 4WD switch
is moved from the 4LO position.For additional information, see “Electronic lock-
ing rear differential system on indicator light”
earlier in this section and “Electronic locking rear
differential system” in the “Starting and Driving”
section of this manual.

WARNING
The rear sonar system is a convenience
but it is not a substitute for proper back-
ing. Always turn and check that it is safe to
do so before backing up. Always back up
slowly.
The rear sonar system is active when the ignition
is in the ON position and the shift selector lever is
in R (Reverse) .
When sensors detect obstacles within 6 ft (1.8
m) of the rear bumper, a beeping tone is emitted.
The rear sonar system can be disabled by push-
ing the OFF switch. When the system is disabled,the indicator light on the switch will illuminate.
Push the switch again to enable the system. The
indicator light will go off.
The system will automatically reset the next time
the ignition switch is turned on.
See “Rear sonar system” in the “Starting and
driving” section.
Tow mode should be used when pulling a heavy
trailer or hauling a heavy load. Using tow mode at
other times may cause unnecessary transmission
shifting and reduced fuel economy.
Press the tow mode switch to activate tow mode.
The indicator light on the tow mode switch illumi-
nates when tow mode is selected. Press the tow
mode switch again to turn tow mode OFF.
Tow mode is automatically canceled when the
key is turned OFF.

the “Technical and consumer information” sec-
tion later in this manual.

The power outlets are for powering electrical
accessories such as cellular telephones.
The power outlets located on the driver’s side of
the instrument panel and in the truck box are
powered directly by the vehicle’s battery.
The power outlets located on the passenger’s
side of the instrument panel, inside the center
armrest, and in the 2nd row are powered only
when the ignition key is in the ACC or ON posi-
tion.
Open the cap to use a power outlet.CAUTION
cThe outlet and plug may be hot during
or immediately after use.
cOnly certain power outlets are designed
for use with a cigarette lighter unit. Do
not use any other power outlet for an
accessory lighter. See your NISSAN
dealer for additional information.
cDo not use with accessories that ex-
ceed a 12 volt, 120W (10A) power draw.
