Security indicator light
For vehicles without Intelligent Key: This light
blinks whenever the ignition switch is in the
LOCK, OFF or ACC position.
For vehicles with Intelligent Key: This light blinks
when the ignition switch is in the LOCK position
with the key removed from the ignition switch.
This function indicates the NISSAN Vehicle Im-
mobilizer System is operational.
If the NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System is mal-
functioning, the light will remain on while the
ignition key is in the ON position.If the light still remains on and/or the en-
gine will not start, see a NISSAN dealer for
NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System ser-
vice as soon as possible. Please bring all
registered keys that you have when visiting
your NISSAN dealer for service.

COVERED STORAGE BIN
Raise the lid to access the storage bin.
TONNEAU COVER (if so equipped)
WARNING
cNever put anything on the tonneau
cover, no matter how small. Any object
on it could cause an injury in an acci-
dent or sudden stop.
cDo not leave the tonneau cover in the
vehicle with it disengaged from the
holder.cProperly secure all cargo with ropes or
straps to help prevent it from sliding or
shifting. Do not place cargo higher than
the seatbacks. In a sudden stop or col-
lision, unsecured cargo could cause
personal injury.
cThe child restraint top tether strap may
be damaged by contact with the ton-
neau cover or items in the cargo area.
Remove the tonneau cover from the ve-
hicle or secure it and any cargo. Your
child could be seriously injured or killed
in a collision if the top tether strap is
damaged.
The tonneau cover keeps the luggage compart-
ment contents hidden from the outside.
Only attach the hook and loop fastener on the
tonneau cover privacy cloth to the area on the
rear seatback where it is supposed to be at-
tached. Otherwise, the seat surface could be
damaged.
To remove the tonneau cover:
s1Remove the straps from the rear hatch.
s2Remove the edge of the tonneau cover pri-
vacy cloth from the rear seatback.
s3Remove the tonneau cover holders from the
rear pillar.

OPERATING RANGE
The Intelligent Key functions can only be used
when the Intelligent Key is within the specified
operating range from the request switch
s1.
When the Intelligent Key battery is discharged or
strong radio waves are present near the operat-
ing location, the Intelligent Key system’s operat-
ing range becomes narrower, and the Intelligent
Key may not function properly.
The operating range is within 31.50 in (80 cm)
from each request switch
s1.If the Intelligent Key is too close to the door glass,
handle or rear bumper, the request switches may
not function.
When the Intelligent Key is within the operating
range, it is possible for anyone, even someone
who does not carry the Intelligent Key, to push the
request switch to lock/unlock the doors.
DOOR LOCKS/UNLOCKS
PRECAUTION
cDo not push the door handle request switch
with the Intelligent Key held in your hand as
illustrated. The close distance to the door
handle will cause the Intelligent Key system
to have difficulty recognizing that the Intelli-
gent Key is outside the vehicle.
cAfter locking with the door handle request
switch, verify the doors are securely locked
by testing them.
cTo prevent the Intelligent Key from being left
inside the vehicle, make sure you carry the
key with you and then lock the doors.

cDoors lock with the door handle request
switch or rear hatch/trunk request switch
while a mechanical key is in the ignition
switch or the ignition switch is pushed in.
cDoors lock with the door handle request
switch or the rear hatch/trunk request switch
while the ignition switch is not in the LOCK
position.
cDoors do not lock by pushing the door
handle request switch or the rear
hatch/trunk request switch while any door is
open. However, doors lock with the me-
chanical key even if any door is open.cDoors do not lock with the door handle
request switch or the rear hatch/trunk re-
quest switch with the Intelligent Key inside
the vehicle and a beep sounds to warn you.
However, when an Intelligent Key is inside
the vehicle, doors can be locked with an-
other Intelligent Key.
CAUTION
cAfter locking the doors using the re-
quest switch, make sure that the doors
have been securely locked by operating
the door handles or the rear
hatch/trunk opener switch.
cWhen locking the doors using the re-
quest switch, make sure to have the
Intelligent Key in your possession be-
fore operating the request switch to
prevent the Intelligent Key from being
left in the vehicle.

open or not closed securely.
cWhen the Intelligent Key battery is dis-
charged.
CAUTION
When locking the doors using the Intelli-
gent Key, be sure not to leave the key in
the vehicle.
Locking doors
1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK posi-
tion.
2. Close all doors and the rear hatch/trunk.
3. Push the
button on the Intelligent
Key.
4. The hazard warning lights flash twice, the
outside buzzer sounds twice, and the horn
beeps once.
5. All doors and the rear hatch/trunk will be
locked.NOTE:
cDoors will lock with the Intelligent Key while
the ignition switch is in the ACC or ON
position.
cDoors will not lock with the Intelligent Key
while any door is open.
CAUTION
After locking the doors using the Intelli-
gent Key, be sure that the doors have been
securely locked by operating the door
handles.

1. Pull the hood lock release handles1located
below the instrument panel until the hood
springs up slightly.
2. Locate the lever
s2in between the hood and
grille and push the lever sideways with your
fingertips.
3. Raise the hood

4. Remove the support rod
s4and insert it into
the slot
s5.Hold the coated parts
sAwhen removing or
resetting the support rod. Avoid direct con-
tact with the metal parts, as they may be
hot immediately after the engine has been
stopped.
When closing the hood, first return the support
rod to its original position. Slowly move the hood
down to latch the lock. Push the hood down to
lock the hood securely into place.
WARNING
cMake sure the hood is completely
closed and latched before driving. Fail-
ure to do so could cause the hood to fly
open and result in an accident.
cIf you see steam or smoke coming from
the engine compartment, to avoid injury
do not open the hood.

The rear hatch must be closed securely
before driving. An open rear hatch could
allow dangerous exhaust gases to be
drawn inside the vehicle.
OPENING THE REAR HATCH
To open the rear hatch, unlock it with one of the
following operations, then push the opener
switch

cUnlock all doors using the key.

To close the rear hatch, push the rear hatch down
until it securely locks.REAR HATCH RELEASE
The rear hatch release mechanism allows the rear
hatch to be opened in the event of a discharged
battery.
To release the rear hatch from the inside of the
vehicle, perform the following operations:
1. Fold the rear seats down. See “Folding rear
seat” in the “Safety — seats, seat belts and
supplemental restraint system” section.
2. Put a hand or a suitable tool in the underside
of the rear hatch to access the release lever
sA. Move the release lever to the right. The
rear hatch will be unlatched.3. Push the rear hatch up to open.
NOTE:
If you had to open the rear hatch using this
lever, have your vehicle checked by a
NISSAN dealer as soon as possible.

KEY OPERATION
To open the trunk lid, turn the key clockwise. To
close the trunk lid, lower and push the trunk lid
down securely.
INTERIOR TRUNK LID RELEASE
WARNING
Closely supervise children when they are
around cars to prevent them from playing
and becoming locked in the trunk where
they could be seriously injured. Keep the
car locked, with the rear seatback and
trunk lid securely latched when not in use,
and prevent children’s access to car keys.
The interior trunk lid release mechanism provides
a means of escape for children and adults in the
event they become locked inside the trunk.To open the trunk from the inside, rotate the
illuminated lever
s1until the lock releases and
push up on the trunk lid. The release lever is made
of a material that glows in the dark after a brief
exposure to ambient light.
The handle is located inside the trunk compart-
ment on the trunk lock at the center of the trunk
lid.
