the charge cord.
4. Plug the charge cord into the domestic electrical outlet.
Verify the charge cord status.

5. Plug in the vehicle plug of the
charge cord into the charge port
on the vehicle.

The start of charging is indicated by
the green flashing of the status
indicator at the charge port and at the
control box of the charge chord.
Once charging, the vehicle plug will
be locked to the charge port and cannot be disconnected while
charging is active. - indicator
illuminates.
Stop charging9 Warning
After the end of the charging
progress:
● Make sure the charge port door
is closed.
● Always disconnect the charge cord from the domestic
electrical outlet.
● Avoid any entry of water into the charge port of the vehicle,the vehicle plug of the charge
cord and the domestic
electrical outlet.
The battery is fully charged if the status indicator on the charge port
illuminates green.
1. Unlock the vehicle before removing the vehicle plug from
the charge port.

lock the vehicle and unlock it
again.
2. Disconnect the vehicle plug from the charge port within 30 seconds.
3. Close the charge port door by pressing firmly in the centre to
latch properly.
4. Disconnect the charging cord from the domestic electrical
outlet.
Charging at wallboxes and public
charging stations
When charging at a wallbox / public
charging station, follow the
instructions for the use of the wallbox / public charging station.
Programmable charging
By default, charging starts as soon as the vehicle plug of the charge cord is
plugged into the charge port of the
vehicle. It is also possible to schedule charging using the Colour Info
Display.
1. Press m.
2. Select Charge.
3. Press /.
4. Enter a start time for loading.
5. Press OK.
6. Plug in the vehicle. Charging 3 195.
7. Within 1 minute, press b to
activate programmable charging.

204Driving and operatingArctic grade diesel fuel can be used
in extreme cold temperatures below
-20 °C. Using this fuel grade in warm
or hot climates is not recommended
and may cause engine stalling, poor
starting or damage on the fuel
injection system.
Refuelling9 Danger
Before refuelling, switch off
ignition and any external heaters
with combustion chambers.
Follow the operating and safety
instructions of the filling station
when refuelling.9 Danger
Fuel is flammable and explosive.
No smoking. No naked flames or
sparks.
If you can smell fuel in your
vehicle, have the cause of this
remedied immediately by a
workshop.
A label with symbols at the fuel filler
flap is indicating the allowed fuel
types. In Europe the pump nozzles of the filling stations are marked with
these symbols. Refuel only the
allowed fuel type.
Caution
In case of misfuelling, do not
switch on ignition.
Fuel filler flap is located at right rear
side of vehicle.
The fuel filler flap can only be opened
if the vehicle is unlocked. Open the
fuel filler flap by pushing the flap.
To open the fuel filler flap of a hybrid
vehicle, a depressurisation phase is
required to avoid the emission of fuel
vapour.

Press r. After depressurisation the
fuel filler flap is unlocked. This can
take up to one minute.
Open the fuel filler flap by pushing the flap.
Petrol and diesel refuelling
To open, turn the cap slowly
anticlockwise.The fuel filler cap can be attached to the hook on the fuel filler flap.
Place the nozzle in straight position to the filler neck and press with slight
force to insert.
To refuel, switch on pump nozzle.
After the automatic cut-off, the tank can be topped up by operating the
pump nozzle a maximum of two more
times.
Caution
Wipe off any overflowing fuel
immediately.
To close, turn the fuel filler cap
clockwise until it clicks.
Close the flap and allow it to engage.

Only use genuine fuel filler caps.
Diesel-engined vehicles have special fuel filler caps.

coupling ball bar
● Red marking on rotary knob must
point towards green marking on
coupling ball bar.
● The gap between the rotary knob
and the coupling ball bar must be approx. 6 mm.
● Remove the cover from the lock of the rotary knob and verify
whether the rotary knob is
locked. If the rotary knob cannot be turned, it is locked.
Otherwise, the coupling ball bar must be tensioned before being inserted:
● Unlock coupling ball bar by turning key to position c.● Pull out rotary knob and turn
clockwise as far as it will go.

in the opening and push firmly
upwards until it audibly engages.
The rotary handle snaps back into its
original position resting against the
coupling ball bar without a gap.9 Warning
Do not touch rotary handle during
insertion.
Lock the coupling ball bar by turning
the key to position e. Remove the key
and close the protective flap.
Eye for break-away stopping cable
Attach breakaway stopping cable to
eye.
Check that the coupling ball bar is correctly installed
● Green marking on rotary knob must point towards green
marking on coupling ball bar.
● There must be no gap between the rotary handle and the
coupling ball bar.
● The coupling ball bar must be firmly engaged in the opening.
● The coupling ball bar must be locked and the key removed.9Warning
Towing a trailer is permitted only
when a coupling ball bar is fitted correctly. If the coupling ball bardoes not engage correctly, seekthe assistance of a workshop.
Dismounting the coupling ball bar
Open the protective flap and turn the
key to position c to unlock the
coupling ball bar.
Pull out rotary handle and turn
clockwise as far as it will go. Pull out coupling ball bar downwards.
Insert sealing plug in opening. Fold away socket.
Trailer stability assist
If the system detects snaking
movements, engine power is reduced
and the vehicle / trailer combination is

If the vehicle is to be stored for several months:
● Wash and wax the vehicle.
● Have the wax in the engine compartment and underbody
checked.
● Clean and preserve the rubber seals.
● Fill up fuel tank completely.
● Change the engine oil.
● Drain the washer fluid reservoir.
● Check the coolant antifreeze and
corrosion protection.
● Adjust tyre pressure to the value specified for full load.
● Park the vehicle in a dry, well ventilated place. Engage first or
reverse gear or set selector lever
to P. Prevent the vehicle from
rolling.
● Do not apply the parking brake.● Open the bonnet, close all doors and lock the vehicle.
● Disconnect the clamp from the negative terminal of the vehicle
battery. Note that all systems are
not functional, e.g. anti-theft
alarm system.
Putting back into operation
When the vehicle is to be put back into
operation:
● Connect the clamp to the negative terminal of the vehicle
battery. Initialize the power
windows 3 40.
● Check tyre pressure.
● Fill up the washer fluid reservoir.
● Check the engine oil level.
● Check the coolant level.
● Fit the number plate if necessary.End-of-life vehicle recovery

2.Slacken the light fixing nut using a
box spanner or socket.
To avoid losing the nut if it drops
into the wing trim, first place a
cloth below it.
3. Manually unscrew and remove the light fixing nut.
4. Disengage the retaining clip, while pushing the light out slightly.5. From the outside, carefullywithdraw the light assembly from
recess and remove. Take care
that the cable duct remains in
position.
6. Turn the bulb socket anticlockwise and remove it from
the light assembly.7. Detach the bulb from the bulb socket and replace the bulb.

8. Insert the bulb socket into the light
assembly. Fit the light assembly in the recess and tighten the light
fixing nut from the inside. Attach
the cover.
Light assembly in the tailgate
1. Open the tailgate and remove the
cover.
2. Slacken the light fixing nut using a
box spanner or socket.
3. Manually unscrew and remove the light fixing nut.
4. Disengage the retaining clip, while pushing the light assembly
out slightly.
5. From the outside, carefully withdraw light assembly from
recess and remove. Take care
that the cable duct remains in
position.
6. Turn the bulb socket anticlockwise and remove it from
the light assembly.

2. Turn bulb socket clockwise andremove from light assembly.
3. Detach the bulb from the bulbsocket and replace the bulb.
4. Insert bulb socket and turnanticlockwise.
5. Insert left end of the light assembly, slide to the left and
insert right end.
Number plate light
Number plate lights are designed as LEDs and can not be changed.
Have lights repaired by a workshop in
case of failure.
Interior lights
Have the following bulbs replaced by
a workshop:
● courtesy light, reading lights
● load compartment light
● instrument panel illuminationElectrical system
Fuses Data on the replacement fuse mustmatch the data on the defective fuse.
There are two fuse boxes in the
vehicle:
● engine compartment
● instrument panel
Before replacing a fuse, turn off the
respective switch and the ignition.
A blown fuse can be recognised by its melted wire.Caution
Do not replace the fuse until the
cause of the fault has been
remedied.
Some functions are protected by
several fuses.
Fuses may also be inserted without
existence of a function.
