108 Climate c ontrol
The a ir re-circulation sy ste m minimises
the e ntry of outside air. The hum idity
increases, and the windows can m ist up.
T h e qu a l i t y o f t h e p a s s en g e r co m p a r tm en t
air de teriorates which ma y cause the
ve hic le occupants to fee l drowsy.
Air distrib ution to K, J or V:
air re -circ ulation s ys tem is a utomatically
switched off, to speed up wind ow
de misting a nd avoid fogging. The control
indicator in the b utton goes out.
If air d istribution rotary sw itch is turned
back to positions M or L, the air re -
circulation system is switched ba ck on and
the c ontrol indicator illuminates in the
button.Convenience sett ings

zone , with warm er air coming from the side
air vents and cooler air from the ce ntre air

air ca n diss ipate quickly.

Fuel fille r neck at left re ar s ide of v ehicle.
Ope n the tank flap .
The fuel filler cap is locke d and unlocked
us ing the key provided . Turn key in lock
cylinder c lock wise to unloc k cap.
Uns cre w the fuel fille r cap b y turning it
anti-clock wise , and re move .
The fuel tank has a limiting sy ste m which
preve nts ov erfilling of the tank.C orre ct filling de pends to a large exte nt on
proper operation of the fuel disp ensing
pump:
1 . Fully ins ert the pump nozzle and s witch
it on.
2. At autom atic switch off, the specifie d
tank capacity is reache d. Le ave the fille r
nozz le in plac e until the flow s tops.
Place fuel filler c ap in pos ition and turn it
clockw ise until tight and turn ke y in lock
cy linde r anti-clockwis e to lock cap.
C los e tank flap.
W ipe off any ov erflowing fue l imme diately .
9 Wa r ning
Fu el is f l a m m a bl e a n d ex p l o si ve . A v oi d
nak ed flam es or s parks when handling
fuel or just in its vicinity. Do not smoke.

only from its c harac te ristic od our. If fue l
od ours occur in the vehicle its elf, ha ve the
cause eliminate d imm ediate ly by a
work shop.

for low be am 1 (outer bulbs ) and

1. O pen bonnet and re move 3 s crew s from
hea dlamp protective cov er.
2. Rotate bulb soc ket a nti-clockwise and
pull it out of head la mp as s embly .
3. De ta ch p lug connector from bulb sock et.
4. Re move bulb from bulb socke t and inse rt
new bulb, without touching the glass.
5. Attach plug connector to b ulb socke t,
push bulb sock et into head lamp
as se mbly and rotate bulb sock et
clockwis e.
6. Re place he adlam p protective cove r,
rep lace 3 scre ws to hold c ov er in plac e
and c los e bonne t.Hig h beam
1. Open bonnet and remove headla mp
pro te ctive co ve r.
2. Rotate bulb socke t anti-clockwise and
pull it out of he adlamp ass e mbly.
3 . Detach plug conne ctor from b ulb s ocke t.
4 . Remov e bulb from bulb s ocket and ins ert
ne w bulb, without touching the g la ss.
5. Atta ch plug conne ctor to bulb socket,
push bulb s ocke t into he adlamp
asse mbly a nd rotate bulb socke t
clockwis e.
6 . Replac e head lamp protectiv e cove r and
close bonnet.

Parking la mps
1. Open bonnet.
2. Rotate bulb socke t anti-cloc kwise and
pull it out of he adlamp ass em bly.
3 . De tach plug conne ctor from bulb s ocket.
4 . Remove b ulb from b ulb s oc ket and ins ert
ne w bulb, without touching the glass.
5. Attach p lug conne ctor to bulb soc ket,
pus h bulb s ocke t into he adlamp
ass em bly and rotate bulb s ocket
cloc kwise .
6. Close bonnet.
Front turn signa ls, front fog lamp s
1. Open bonnet.
2. Reach through ap erture between front
pane lling and bonne t and locate bulb
as se mbly .
3. Rotate bulb soc ket a nti-clockwise and
pull out bulb as s embly .4 . Detach plug conne ctor from b ulb s ocke t.
5 . Remov e bulb from bulb s ocket and ins ert
ne w bulb, without touching the g la ss.
6. Atta ch plug conne ctor to bulb socket,
push bulb as se mbly into original pos ition
and rotate b ulb socke t clockwise.
7. Close bonnet.

Rear brake, tail, turn signal lamps
1 . Ope n lug gage compartme nt
2 . Remove 2 bolts holding the bulb
assem bly to the vehicle body.3. Pull bulb as se mbly away from ve hicle
body and de tach plug connector from
bulb assemb ly.
4. Rotate bulb soc ket a nti-clockwise and
rem ove from bulb asse mbly.
5. Re move bulb from bulb socke t and inse rt
new bulb, without touching the glass.
6. Re place bulb s oc ket in bulb ass em bly
and rotate bulb socket cloc kwise .
7. Re place bulb as se mbly into original
pos ition and repla ce 2 bolts to hold bulb
asse mbly to the v ehicle body.
8. C los e lug gage compartme nt.
R eversing lamp, fog tail lamp
1. Reach behind, up a nd under rea r
panelling and locate bulb s ocke t.
2. Rotate bulb socke t anti-clockwise and
remove from lam p as se mbly.
3 . Remov e bulb from bulb s ocket and ins ert
ne w bulb, without touching the g la ss.
4 . Install bulb s ocket by lining up the tabs in
the lamp as se mbly and rota te bulb
socke t clockwis e.

Lic ense plate lamps
1 . Remove 2 s crews holding licens e plate
la m p t o f a s c i a .
2 . Rotate and p ull lice nse plate lamp
forwards throug h fa scia op ening.
3. Rotate bulb socke t anti-cloc kwise .
4 . Remove b ulb from b ulb s oc ket and ins ert
ne w bulb, without touching the glass.
5. Rotate bulb socke t clockwise a nd
re place licens e plate lam p into orig inal
position.
6 . Replace 2 s crews to hold lice ns e plate
la m p t o f a s c i a .
Luggage compartment lamp
1. O pen luggag e comp artment and pris e
out bulb housing.
2. De ta ch plug conne ctor from bulb
housing.
3. Re move bulb from bulb socke t and inse rt
new bulb, without touching the glass.
4. Attach plug connector to b ulb housing,
pus h bulb hous ing into orig inal position
and c los e lugg age compartme nt.
Centre high-mounted stop lamp ,
side repeater lamps,

The paintwork of your vehicle is exposed to
env ironmental influenc es, e.g. c ontinuous
change s in w eather conditions, industrial
was te gas es and dus t or thawing s alts, so
wash and w ax y our v ehicle regularly.
Bird d ropp ings, dead insec ts, resin,
polle n and the like s hould b e cle aned off
imm ediate ly, a s the y contain aggre ss ive
constituents which can ca use paint
dam age.
If us ing a car wash, comply with the
pe rtine nt ins tructions of the car was h
m a nu f a ct u r er . T h e w i n dscr e en w i p er s m u st
be switched off – see pa ges 15, 71. Rem ove
ante nna b y unscre wing anti-clockwis e.
I f y o u w a sh y o ur v eh i c l e b y ha n d , m a k e
sure that the inside s of the wings are also
thoroughly rinsed out.
C lean edges and folds on opened doors
and flaps as we ll as the a reas they cover.
Thoroughly rinse off a nd leather-off the
vehicle. Rinse leather frequently. Use
s epa ra te le athe rs for paint and window
surfac es: rem nants of wax on the windows
will im pair vis ion.
