The function standby after s witching off
the ig nition is cancelle d whe n the drive r’s
door is opened.The drive r’s and pas se nger’s window are
op erated via the switches located in the
driver’s door handle.
For increm ental ope ra tion, briefly pull or
pres s the s witch. To ope n or close fully , pull
or press the switch for longer.
For automatic ope ning , pre ss the switch
down fully . Pull the s witch to s top the
movem ent.
In the e vent of difficulty due to frost or
the like , pre ss the re lev ant wind ow sw itc h
several tim es until the window is closed.The pass e nge r’s window is operate d via a
switch in the door handle.
F or inc re me nta l operation, brie fly pull or
press the switch. To open or close fully, pull
or pre ss the switch for longer.

The system is protected by a fuse in the fuse

To allow the lug gage compartme nt lid to
close correc tly , e nsure the soft top is
prope rly s towe d by apply ing a firm, e ve n
push in the centre of the soft top.
To clos e the lug gage compartme nt lid ,
stand behind the ve hicle and, with two
hands laid flat on the s urface of the lid,
close the lid with a swift, firm m otion.Rais ing s oft top

From the sid e of the vehicle , pull the
soft top upwards and forwards , towa rd s
the windscreen fram e.F ully raise the soft top e nsuring the
alignme nt pins locate correctly in both
sides of the w indscreen fram e and on each
s ide of the body adjace nt to the s eat
bac kres ts.

Belt tension ers
The se at belts are fitted w ith b elt
tens ione rs. The s ea t belts are pulled d ow n
at the buckles in the eve nt of frontal
impac ts ab ov e a certain s ev erity. This
tightens the be lts.
Actua tion of be lt t ens ione rs
Indicated by continuous illumination of
control indicatorv in the ins trum ent pa ne l.
The b elt te ns ioners must be re place d
after activation. Cons ult a works hop.

5 se conds . If it does not flas h, does not go
out a fter 5 seconds or illuminates while
driving, there is a fault in the
belt te nsioners , s eat oc cup anc y
re cognition or the airbag sys te ms –
se e a lso pag es 4 5, 48 . Th e s yste ms may
fa il to deploy in the e vent of an accident.

Thick layers of clothing p revent the belt
from fitting snugly. The belt must not rest
agains t hard or fragile objects in the
pockets of your clothing (e.g. b allpoint
pen, keys, spectacles), since this could
cause injury. No objects such as handbags,
mobile phone s etc. must be p re s ent
be twee n the be lt and y our body .Dr ive r’s s ea t be lt w arning de v ice X

when the ig nition is sw itche d on, or until
driver’s s eat belt is fas tened . F lashe s for a

driver’s s eat belt re mains unfas tene d, the
control indicator will illum inate for a pprox.

belt rem ains unfastened.
W hen the vehicle is being d riv en, if the
pas s enge r’ s se at is occupied a nd the be lt
remains unfastened, the control indicator
will illuminate for a pprox. 2 0 s econds and
then flash for a furthe r 60 se cond s or until
t h e bel t i s f a s t en ed .

millis econds to form a s afety cushion for
the d riv er and pass e nge r. The forwa rd
move me nt of the s eat occupants is
ch eck ed, t h er eb y s ub st a n t i a l l y r e du ci n g
the risk of injury to the upp er body and
head .
No im pairment of vie w will occur, becaus e
the a irb ags inflate and de flate s o quickly
that it is often not ev en noticed in an
accide nt. The airbag s ys tem will not be trigge red in
t h e eve n t o f :
zthe ignition being s witched off,
zminor frontal collis ions ,
zaccidents in which the vehicle overturns,
zcollis ions involving a s id e or re ar impac t
where it would not be of benefit to the
occupants .

The airb ag s ys tem prov ides optimum
protection whe n the s eat and backre st
are correctly adjuste d.
Adjust the driver's sea t according to the
occupant's he ight such that, with the
drive r s itting upright, the s teering whee l is
held in the are a of its up per s poke s w ith
t h e dr i ver ' s a r m s s li g ht l y ben t .
The pass enge r’s se at s hould be a s far
back as poss ible , with the backres t
upright – s e e pa ges 7 , 3 7, 3 8.
Do not place the head, b od y, hands or
f ee t o n t h e c ov er o f t h e a i r ba g s ys t em s .
Do not place any obje cts in the are a in
which the airb ags inflate . Im portant
inform ation – s ee page 4 9.

If y ou do not w ear your seat belt, y ou risk
being seriously injure d, or e ve n thrown
fr o m th e ve h ic l e, i n t h e ev en t o f a n
accident.
If an accide nt occurs , the be lt helps to
maintain the correct se at position that
is re quire d for the airbag system
to p r ov i de y o u w i t h ef f ect i v e p r o t e ct i on .

Se at oc cupancy re cognition
The s e at occupancy re cognition s ys tem
de activates the pas se nger’s airbag if the
pas se nger’s s ea t is not occupie d.
Control indicators W and V for seat
occupancy re cognition a re locate d on the
ce ntre console . Both control indica tors
illuminate for app rox . 5 seconds after the
ignition is switched on, then either W or V
illuminates continuously .
If both control indicators illuminate
continuously , or neither illum inates after
the ignition is sw itc he d on, there is a fault in
the s e at occupancy re cognition s ys tem.
The airbag and b elt te nsioner s yste ms m ay
f ail to de plo y in th e eve n t o f an acciden t o r
may deploy unnecessarily. H ave cause of
fault reme die d imme diately by a
workshop.

If control indicator W doe s not illum inate
while driving, the airbag sy ste ms have
not be en dea ctivated on the passe nger’s
side and m ay de ploy unnec es sarily in the
eve nt of an accide nt.
In this cas e, check that the se at bac kres t
is not pus hing down onto the s eat
cushion. Re cline back res t if nece ss ary. If
control indicator W d oes not illuminate
after adjus ting backre st, ha ve cause of
fault re me died by a workshop.

Control indicator V illuminates
continuously as soon as the sy stem has
de tecte d that the p assenge r’s se at is
occupied and the pass e nge r is correctly
s eate d. W hen a pas se ng er occupie s the
pas se nger’s s ea t, the a irb ag for the
pas se nger’s s ea t is activated and may
i n f la t e i n t h e eve n t o f a n a cci de n t .
P a y a t te n t i on to th e c o n t r ol i nd i c a t or s f o r
s eat occupancy recognition.Important
zAccessories a nd other objects must not
be affix ed or s tored in the area in which
the airbags inflate, since they could
cause injury if the a irb ags a re de ployed.
zDo not place any objec ts be twee n the
airbag s ys tems and the ve hicle
occupants ; ris k of injury.
zThe airbag sy ste ms and be lt tens ione r
control e lectronics can be found in the
centre console area. In order to av oid
malfunctions, do not store mag netic
objects in this a re a.
zDo not stick any thing on the steering
whee l or ins trument pa ne l, or cov er
ei t h er o f t h e se a r ea s w it h o t h er
materials .
zUse only a dry cloth or Interior/
Upholstery Cle ane r to clea n the ste ering
w h ee l a n d i n st r u m e nt p a n el . D o no t u s e
any agg re s sive cle aning agents .

In this case, turn off the ignition, e nsure
the pass e nge r’s se at ba ckres t is in an
upright position and the pas se nger is
sitting upright in the se at. Re sta rt the
ve hicle. If the control indicator does not
illuminate w hile driving, hav e ca us e of
fault rem edie d by a works hop .
If control indicator v for airbag systems
and b elt te ns ioners illum inate s in the
instrume nt panel and W is illuminated in
t h e cen t r e c on s o l e w h i l e t h e p a ss en g e r ’s
s eat is occupie d, cons ult a works hop

OTurn signals
Control indicator flashes in g reen.
The rele vant control indicator fla shes when
the turn signal is on. Both control ind ic ators
flash with the hazard w arning la mps on.

If it flashes when the engine is running:
Fault that can le ad to d estruction of the

C ontrol indicator illuminates or flashe s in

Illuminates when the ig nition is switche d on
i f t h e h a n d b ra ke i s a p p li e d o r i f t h e b ra ke/
clutch fluid lev el is too low.
Flashes at sp eeds ov er 8 km /h (5 mph) if
hand brak e is app lie d.
Release ha nd brake before continuing
journe y, to avoid ove rheating and
dam aging the b rake sy ste m.
