Driving and operating195DeactivationAdaptive cruise control is deactivatedby the driver when:
β y is pressed.
β Brake pedal is applied.
β Clutch pedal is depressed for more than four seconds.
β Selector lever of automatic transmission is moved to N.
The system is also automatically
deactivated when:
β Vehicle speed accelerates above
190 km/h or slows down below
25 km/h, on vehicles with
automatic transmission it slows
down to a stop without
deactivating within five minutes.
β The Traction Control system is deactivated or operating.
β The Electronic Stability Control is
deactivated or operating.
β There is no traffic and nothing detected on the road sides forapprox. one minute. In this casethere are no radar echoes and
the sensor may report that it is blocked.β The active emergency braking system is applying the brakes.
β Driving on steep inclines.
β The radar sensor is blocked by an ice or water film.
β A fault is detected in the radar, camera, engine or brake system.
β The brakes are too hot.
Additionally, the system is
automatically deactivated on vehicles
with automatic transmission (full
speed range adaptive cruise control)
when:
β The electric parking brake is applied.
β The vehicle is being held to a stop
by the system for more than
five minutes.
β The vehicle stops, the driver's seat belt is unbuckled and thedriver's door is opened.
When adaptive cruise control is
deactivated, the control indicator m
changes from green to white and a
pop-up message is displayed in the
Driver Information Centre.
The stored speed is maintained.
On Midlevel display, the stored speed is indicated in brackets in the Driver
Information Centre when the system
is deactivated but not switched off.
On Uplevel display, the adaptive
cruise control symbol C changes
from green to white when the system
is deactivated but not switched off.
9 Warning
When adaptive cruise control is
deactivated, the driver must take
over full brake and engine control
immediately.
Switching off
Press C to switch off adaptive cruise
control. C in the Driver Information
Centre extinguishes. The stored
speed is deleted.

When transporting the vehicle on
a train or on a recovery vehicle, the
mud flaps might be damaged.
Vehicle storage
Storage for a long period of time
If the vehicle is to be stored for several months:
β Wash and wax the vehicle.
β Have the wax in the engine compartment and underbody
checked.
β Clean and preserve the rubber seals.
β Fill up fuel tank completely.
β Change the engine oil.
β Drain the washer fluid reservoir.
β Check the coolant antifreeze and
corrosion protection.
β Adjust tyre pressure to the value specified for full load.
β Park the vehicle in a dry, wellventilated place. Engage first or
reverse gear or set selector lever
to P. Prevent the vehicle from
rolling.
β Do not apply the parking brake.
β Open the bonnet, close all doors and lock the vehicle.
β Disconnect the clamp from the negative terminal of the vehicle
battery. Beware that all systems
are not functional, e.g. anti-theft
alarm system.
Putting back into operation
When the vehicle is to be put back into
operation:
β Connect the clamp to the negative terminal of the vehicle
battery. Activate the electronics
of the power windows.
β Check tyre pressure.
β Fill up the washer fluid reservoir.
β Check the engine oil level.
β Check the coolant level.
β Fit the number plate if necessary.End-of-life vehicle recovery

Switch off the ignition and switch off
the relevant switch or close the doors.
Only hold a new bulb at the base. Do not touch the bulb glass with bare
hands.
Use only the same bulb type for
replacement.
Replace headlight bulbs from within
the engine compartment.
Bulb check After a bulb replacement switch on
the ignition, operate and check the
lights.
Halogen headlights
Halogen headlights with separate
bulbs for low beam and high beam.
Low beam ( 1) outer bulb.
High beam ( 2) inner bulb.
Low beam (1)
1. Rotate the cap anticlockwise and remove it.
2. Disengage bulb holder bypressing the retainer to the front.
Withdraw the bulb holder from the
reflector housing.

Vehicle care2515. Disengage the bulb socket fromthe plug connector by pressing
the retaining lug.
6. Remove and replace the bulb socket with bulb and attach the
plug connector.
7. Insert the bulb socket into the light
assembly by turning clockwise
and engage.
8. Mount the light assembly by tightening the three screws.
9. Attach the faceplate and tighten the screw.
10. Attach and engage the cover.
Tail lights
Tail lights and brake lights are
designed as LEDs. In case of failure, have LEDs replaced by a workshop.5-door Hatchback
Light assembly in the body
1. Remove the cover on the respective side.
2. Unscrew the two plastic securing nuts from the inside by hand.
3. Carefully withdraw tail light assembly from recess and
remove. Take care that the cable
duct remains in position.
