Deactivation indicator lamps
I f o n e o f t h e f o l l o w i n g i n d i c a t o r l a m p s c o m e s o n , t h i s c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g s y s t e m h a s b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f i n t e n t i o n a l l y .
This is may be accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction screen.
Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
Passenger's
airbag system fi x e d . The control, located in the
glove box, is set to the
OFF
position.
The passenger's front airbag
is deactivated.
In this case you can install a
"rear facing" child seat. Set the control to the
ON position to activate the
p a s s e n g e r ' s f r o n t a i r b a g . I n t h i s c a s e , d o n o t fi t
a child seat in the rear-facing position.
The passenger's airbag system is put into
service automatically when the vehicle is started
( ON position).
ESP/ASR fi x e d . The button (located at the
bottom left of the dashboard)
or the Grip control dial is
operated. Its indicator lamp
comes on.
ESP/ASR is deactivated.
ESP: electronic stability
programme.
ASR: anti-skid regulation. Press the button to activate the ESP/ASR or
turn the Grip control dial to ESP. Its indicator
lamp switches off.
From approximately 30 mph (50 km/h), the
system is reactivated automatically.
The ESP/ASR system is activated automatically
when the vehicle is started.

Recommendations for ventilation and air conditioning
In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the operation and mainte-
nance guidelines below:
If the interior temperature remains very high after the vehicle has been
p a r k e d i n t h e s u n f o r a c o n s i d e r a b l e t i m e , fi r s t v e n t i l a t e t h e p a s s e n g e r c o m -
partment for a few minutes.
P l a c e t h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l a t a s u f fi c i e n t l e v e l t o p r o v i d e a n a d e q u a t e r e n e w a l
of air in the passenger compartment.
To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obst ruct the exterior air
intake grilles located at the base of the windscreen, the n ozzles, the vents
and the air outlets, as well as the air extractor located in the boot.
Use in preference the intake of exterior air as prolonged use of the air recir-
culation may cause misting of the windows and side windows.
Do not cover the sunshine sensor, located on the dashboard; this is used for
regulation of the automatic air conditioning system.
Operate the air conditioning system for 5 to 10 minutes, on ce or twice a
month to keep it in perfect working order.
E n s u r e t h a t t h e p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r i s i n g o o d c o n d i t i o n a n d h a v e
t h e fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d r e g u l a r l y ( r e f e r t o t h e " C h e c k s " s e c t i o n ) .

breathed by the occupants and the cleanliness of the passenge r compart-
m e n t ( r e d u c t i o n o f a l l e r g i c s y m p t o m s , b a d o d o u r s a n d g r e a s y d e p o s i t s ) .
The air conditioning uses power from the engine while op erating. This results
in an increase in the vehicle's fuel consumption.
When towing at or near maximum capacity or on steep slopes in h igh ambient
temperatures, switching off the air conditioning saves engine power and so
improves towing capacity.
Condensation created by the air conditioning results in a d ischarge of water
under the vehicle when stationary, which is perfectly normal.
To ensure correct operation of the air conditioning system, you are also
advised to have it checked regularly.
If the system does not produce cold air, do not use it and contact a PEUGEOT
dealer. The air conditioning system
does not contain chlorine and
does not present any danger
to the ozone layer.

For the airbags to be fully
effective, observe the
following safety rules:
Sit in a normal upright position.
Wear a correctly adjusted seat belt.
Do not leave anything between the
occupants and the airbags (a child,
pet, object...). This could hamper the
operation of the airbags or injure the
occupants.
After an accident or if the vehicle has
been stolen or broken into, have the
airbag systems checked.
All work on the airbag system is strict-
ly forbidden unless it is carried out by
q u a l i fi e d p e r s o n n e l o f t h e P E U G E O T
dealer network.
Even if all of the precautions men-
tioned are observed, a risk of injury
or of minor burns to the head, chest
or arms when an airbag is deployed
cannot be ruled out. The bag in-
fl a t e s a l m o s t i n s t a n t l y ( w i t h i n a f e w
m i l l i s e c o n d s ) t h e n d e fl a t e s w i t h i n t h e
same time discharging the hot gas via
openings provided for this purpose. Front airbags
Do not drive holding the steering
wheel by its spokes or resting your
hands on the centre part of the
wheel.
Passengers must not place their feet
on the dashboard.
If possible, do not smoke as deploy-
ment of the airbags can cause burns
or the risk of injury from a cigarette
or pipe.
Never remove or pierce the steering
wheel or hit it violently.
Lateral airbags
Use only approved covers on the seats.
T h e s e w i l l n o t h i n d e r i n fl a t i o n o f t h e
lateral airbags. Consult a PEUGEOT
dealer.
D o n o t fi x o r a t t a c h a n y t h i n g t o t h e
seat backs (clothing...). This could
cause injury to the chest or arms if
the lateral airbag is deployed.
Do not sit with the upper part of the
body any nearer to the door than
necessary.
Curtain airbags
D o n o t fi x o r a t t a c h a n y t h i n g t o t h e
roof. This could cause injury to the
head if the curtain airbag is de-
ployed.
Do not remove the grab handles in-
stalled on the roof, they play a part in
securing the curtain airbags.
