Eco-driving
Eco-driving is a range of everyday practices that allow the motorist to optimise their fuel consumption and CO2emissions.
Optimise the use of your
gearbox
With a manual gearbox, move off gently,change up without waiting and drive by changing up quite soon.
With an automatic or electronic gearbox, stay in Drive "D"or Auto "A"
, according to the type of gearbox, without pressing theaccelerator pedal heavily or suddenly.
Drive smoothly
Maintain a safe distance between vehicles, use engine braking rather than the brake pedal, and press the accelerator progressively. These practices contribute towards a reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions and also helps reduce the background traffic noise.
If your vehicle has cruise control, make use of the system at speeds above 25 mph (40 km/h) when the traffic is flowing well.


Control the use of your
electrical equipment


Before moving off, if the passenger compartment is too warm, ventilate it byopening the windows and air vents before using the air conditioning.
Above 30 mph (50 km/h), close the windows and leave the air vents open.
Remember to make use of equipment that canhelp keep the temperature in the passenger compartment down (window blinds...).
Switch off the air conditioning as soon as the desired temperature is attained.
Switch off the demisting and defrostingcontrols, if not automatic. Switch off the heated seat as soon as possible.


Switch off the headlamps and foglamp whenthe level of light does not require their use.

Avoid running the engine before moving off,particularly in winter; your vehicle will warmup much faster while driving.

As a passenger, if you avoid connecting your multimedia devices (film, music, videogame...), you will contribute towards limitingthe consumption of electrical energy, and soof fuel.
Disconnect your por table devices beforeleaving the vehicle.

Instruments and controls
Operation indicator lamps
If one of the following indicator lamps comes on, this confirms that the corresponding system has come into operation.

Access
System which permits central unlocking or locking of the vehicle using the lock or from a distance. It is also used to locate and start the vehicle, as well as providing protection against theft.

Unlocking and partial opening of the boot

Press this button for more thanone second to unlock the boot.
The boot opens slightly.
This action unlocks the vehiclefirst.

Access

If one of the doors or the boot is stillopen, the central locking does not take place; the vehicle locks then immediately unlocks, identifiable by thesound of the locks rebounding.
When the vehicle is locked, if it isunlocked inadvertently, it will lockagain automatically after thir ty seconds unless a door or the boot is open.

)Turn the key in the driver's door lock,
towards the rear of the vehicle to lock it.This

vehicle must be locked.

Electronic engine immobiliser
The key contains an electronic chip which has
a special code. When the ignition is switched
on, this code must be recognised in order for starting to be possible.
This electronic engine immobiliser locks theengine management system a few minutes
after the ignition is switched off and preventsstarting of the engine by anyone who does not have the key.
In the event of a fault,
you are
informed by illumination of this
warning lamp, an audible signal and a messagein the screen.
In this case, your vehicle will not start; contact
a PEU
GEOT dealer as soon as possible.
Keep safely the label attached to the keys given
to you on acquisition of the vehicle.
) Press the closed padlock on the
remote control.
This will switch on the cour tes
y lamps and the direction indicators will flash for a few seconds.

Check that the doors and boot are fully
closed.

locking system or a battery failure.

is not on.)Remove the black cap located on the edge
of the door, using the key. )Inser t the key into the aper ture without
forcing, then without turning, move the
latch sideways towards the inside of

In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the operation and maintenance guidelines below: )To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obstruct the exterior air intake grilles
located at the base of the windscreen, the nozzles, the vents and the air outlets, as wellas the air extractor located in the boot. )Operate the air conditioning system for at least 5 to 10 minutes, once or twice a month to keep it in perfect working order. )Ensure that the passenger compar tment filter is in good condition and have the filter elements replaced regularly. )To ensure correct operation of the air conditioning system, you are also advised to have it checked regularly as recommended in the ser vicing booklet.)If the system does not produce cold air, switch it off and contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
When towing the maximum load on a steep gradient in high temperatures, switching off theair conditioning increases the available engine power and so improves the towing ability.











Recommendations for ventilation and air conditioning


If after an extended stop in sunshine, the interior temperature is very high, firstventilate the passenger compar tment for
a few moments. Put the air flow control at a setting highenough to quickly change the air in the passenger compartment.

The air conditioning system does not contain chlorine and does not present any danger to the ozone layer.


The condensation created by the air conditioning results in a discharge of water under the vehicle which isperfectly normal.

Fittings
This "AUX"connection box, consisting of a JACK auxiliarysocket and a USB port, is located on the centre console.
It allows the connection of por table device, such as a
digital audio player of the iPod ®type or a USB memory®
stick.
It reads the audio file formats (MP3, OGG, WMA, WAV, ...)which are transmitted to your audio system and played via
the vehicle's speakers.
You can mana
ge these files using the audio system control panel and display them in the instrument panel screen.


When the USB por t is used, the por table device charges automatically.
Front armrest

120 W), remove the cigarette lighter andconnect a suitable adaptor.
You can use this socket to connect a telephonecharger, a bottle warmer...
After use, put the cigarette lighter back intoplace straight away.

Driving








Starting - stopping the engine
)Inser t the key in the ignition switch.
The system recognises the star ting code. )Turn the key fully towards the dashboard toposition 3 (Starting).)When the engine star ts, release the key.

Starting


A heavy object (key fob...), attached to the key and weighing down on its shaft in the ignition switch, could cause amalfunction.

On opening the driver's door, an aler t message is displayed, accompanied by anaudible signal, to remind you that the key isstill in the ignition switch at position 1 (Stop).

Immobilise the vehicle.)
Turn the key fully towards you to position 1 (Stop) .)
Remove the key from the ignition switch.
Switching off

If the key has been left in the ignitionswitch at position 2 (Ignition on),the ignition will be switched off automatically after one hour.
To switch the ignition back on, turn the key to position 1 (Stop)
, then back toposition 2 (Ignition on).
