REAR PARKING
ASSISTANCE This system, installed in the rear
bumper, detects any obstacle
(person, vehicle, tree, barrier, kerb ...) situated behind thevehicle. Activation With the engine running, the sys- tem is activated when reverse
gear is engaged. A bleep indi-cates that it is active. The proximity information is pro- vided by an audible signal, consisting of bleeps which beco-me faster as the vehicleapproaches the obstacle. When the distance between the rear of the vehicle and the obs-tacle is less than approxi-mately twenty-five centi-metres, the audiblesignal becomes conti-nuous. ➜Change to neutral to disarm the system. 11
OPENING THE BONNET Inside the vehicle: Push the
handle on the left side, under the fascia. Outside the vehicle: Lift the catch, raise thebonnet and secure thestrut to keep the bonnetopen.

Operating abnormality Any operating abnormality is indica- ted by an audible signal accompa-nied by the message "Automatic
gearbox faulty" on the multi-func-
tion display and flashing of the Sportand Snow warning lights on the ins-trument panel. In this situation the gearbox operates in downgrade mode (locked in 3rd
gear). You may feel a substantialknock when changing from Pto R
and from Nto R(this will not cause
any damage to the gearbox). Do not exceed 100 km/h, keeping within the limit of local speed restric-tions.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as possible. When this warning lightcomes on, accompanied byan audible signal and themessage
"Braking fault"
on the multi-function display
it indicates that there is a malfunctionof the electronic brake force distribu-tion, which can cause a loss ofcontrol of the vehicle when braking.
Stop immediately.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
HANDBRAKE Locking Pull the handbrake to immobilise your vehicle.
Warning:
when parking on a slope,
direct your wheels towards the pave- ment and pull the handbrake.
ABS ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
The ABS system with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBFD)increases the stability and manoeu-vrability of your vehicle, particularlyon poor or slippery road surfaces. Note: when changing wheels (tyres
and rims), make sure that these are approved. The anti-lock braking system comes into operation automatically whenthere is a risk of wheel lock.

If the battery is flat and the lever is in position P, it
will be impossible tochange to another posi-tion. Normal operation of the ABS maymake itself felt by slight vibrationsof the brake pedal. In emergency braking, press very firmly without releasingthe pressure.
EMERGENCY BRAKING
ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
In an emergency, this system enables the optimum braking
pressure to be reached more quickly, thus reducing the stopping distance. It is triggered according to the speed
of activation of the brake pedal. The
effect of this is a reduction in theresistance of the pedal and an
increase in braking efficiency.

REAR PARKING ASSISTANCE This system consists of four proximi- ty sensors, located in the rear bum-
per, and a special speaker fitted inthe fascia. This detects any obstacle (person, vehicle, tree, gate, pavement etc.)behind the vehicle. Note:this function will be disarmed
automatically when the vehicle is towing a trailer or when a bicycle car-rier is fitted (vehicle fitted with towingattachment or bicycle carrier recom-mended by PEUGEOT). In wintry
weather, ensure that the sensors are
not covered with frost or snow.
Activation The system is activated as soon as reverse gear is engaged; an audiblebleep shows that it is active. The proximity information is given by an audible signal, which becomesmore rapid as the vehicleapproaches the obstacle. When distance between the rear of the vehicle and the obstacle is lessthan approximately twenty-five centi-metres, the audible signal becomescontinuous.Deactivation
Change to neutral, the system is again inactive.
