Warning lights
When the engine is running or the vehicle is being driven, the switching on of one of the following warning lights indicates the
occurrence of a fault which requires action on the part of the driver.
Any fault resulting in the switching on of a warning ligh t must be investigated further by reading the associated message on
the multifunction display.

STOP
fi x e d , a s s o c i a t e d w i t h another warning light and accompanied by a message on the display.
It is associated with a punctured wheel, the braking, the power steering, the engine oil pressure or the coolant temperature.
You must stop immediately where it is safe to do so.
Park, switch off the ignition and call a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
Service
temporarily. A minor fault which does not h a v e a s p e c i fi c w a r n i n g l i g h t has occurred.
Identify the fault by consulting the message shown on the display, such as:
- the closing of the doors, boot or bonnet,
- the engine oil level,
- the screenwash level,
- the remote control battery,
- the pressure of the tyres,
- the end of saturation of the particle e m i s s i o n fi l t e r ( D i e s e l ) .
For any other faults, contact a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
fi x e d . A major fault which does not h a v e a s p e c i fi c w a r n i n g l i g h t has occurred.

Braking

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)

Dynamic stability control (ESP/ASR)

The system optimises traction and improves the directional stability of the vehicle.

Engine autodiagnostics system
fi x e d . The emission control system is faulty.
This light should switch off when the engine is started.
If it does not switch off, contact a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
fl a s h i n g .
The engine management system is faulty, there is a risk of destruction of the catalytic converter.
You must stop immediately where it is safe to do so.
Park, switch off the ignition and contact a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
Low fuel level fi x e d w i t h t h e n e e d l e in the red zone. The fuel tank contains approximately 5 litres.
Depending on your style of driving and your engine, you have enough fuel left to drive approximately 30 miles (50 km).
Fill your fuel tank as soon as possible. Capacity approximately 60 litres.
Never continue to drive until you run out of fuel, this could damage the emission control and injection systems.
Coolant temperature fi x e d w i t h t h e n e e d l e in the red zone. The temperature of the cooling system is too high.
You must stop immediately where it is safe to do so.
Wait until the engine has cooled down before topping up the level, if necessary.
If the problem persists, park, switch off t h e i g n i t i o n a n d c a l l a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
Engine oil pressure fi x e d . The engine lubrication circuit is faulty.
You must stop immediately where it is safe to do so.
Park, switch off the ignition and contact a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
Battery charge fi x e d .
The battery charging circuit is faulty (dirty or loose terminals, slack or cut alternator belt, ...).
This light should switch off when the engine is started.
If it does not switch off, contact a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .

Door(s) open
fi x e d i f t h e s p e e d i s below 6 mph (10 km/h). A door, the boot, the lower tailgate or the bonnet (only with alarm) is still open. Close the access concerned. fi x e d i f t h e s p e e d i s above 6 mph (10 km/h), accompanied by an audible signal.
Seat belt not fastened/unfastened
fi x e d t h e n fl a s h i n g accompanied by an audible signal.
The driver and/or the front passenger has not fastened or has unfastened his seat belt.
One or more rear passengers have also unfastened their seat belt.
Pull the strap then insert the tongue in the buckle.
Air bags
temporarily.
This light comes on for a few seconds then switches off when you turn the ignition to "ON".
This light should switch off when the engine is started.
If it does not switch off, contact a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
fi x e d . One of the air bag or seat belt pretensioner systems is faulty. C o n t a c t a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
Water in diesel fi x e d .
T h e d i e s e l fi l t e r c o n t a i n s water.
There is a risk of damage to the injection system on Diesel engines.

Directional headlamps fl a s h i n g . The directional headlamps system is faulty. C o n t a c t a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
D e fl a t e d wheel fi x e d . The pressure in one or more wheels is too low. Check the pressure of the tyres as soon as possible.

Coolant temperature indicator
System which informs the driver of the
changes in the temperature of the en-
gine coolant while driving.
With the engine running, when the
needle is:
- in zone A , the temperature is correct,
- in zone B , the temperature is too
high; the max temperature warning
light 1 and the central STOP warning
light come on, accompanied by an
audible signal and a message on
the multifunction display.
You MUST stop as soon as it is safe
to do so.
Wait a few minutes before switching off
the engine.
C o n s u l t a P E U G E O T d e a l e r . After driving for a few minutes, the tem-
perature and pressure in the cooling
system increase.
To top up the level:
wait for the engine to cool,
unscrew the cap by two turns to
allow the pressure to drop,
when the pressure has dropped,
remove the cap,
top up the level to the "MAX" mark.

TYRE UNDER-INFLATION DETECTION
System which automatically checks the
pressure of the tyres while driving. All repairs and changing of
t y r e s o n a w h e e l fi t t e d w i t h t h i s
system must be carried out by
a PEUGEOT dealer.
If, when changing a tyre, you install
a wheel which is not detected by
y o u r v e h i c l e ( e x a m p l e : fi t t i n g o f s n o w
tyres), you must have the system
reinitialised by a PEUGEOT dealer.
This system does not eliminate
the need to have the tyre pres-
sure checked regularly (refer to
t h e " I d e n t i fi c a t i o n f e a t u r e s " p a r a g r a p h )
to ensure that the optimum dynamic
performance of the vehicle is main-
tained and prevent premature wear of
the tyres, particularly in arduous driving
conditions (heavy load, high speed).
The tyre pressures must be checked
cold, at least once a month. Re-
member to check the pressure of the
spare wheel.
T h e t y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n
system may experience temporary
interference due to radioelectric
emissions on a frequency close to
that used by the system.
S e n s o r s fi t t e d i n e a c h v a l v e t r i g g e r a
warning in the event of malfunction
(speed above 12 mph (20 km/h)).
T h e s p a r e w h e e l i s n o t fi t t e d w i t h a s e n s o r .
This warning light is displayed
on the instrument panel and/or
a message appears on the mul-
tifunction display, accompanied
by an audible signal, to locate
the wheel concerned.
Check the tyre pressures as soon as
possible.
This check must be carried out when
the tyres are
cold.
Flat tyre The
STOP warning light
comes on, accompanied by
an audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multifunction
display locating the wheel
concerned.
Stop immediately, avoiding any sud-
den movement of the steering wheel
and the brakes.
Change the damaged wheel (punc-
t u r e d o r v e r y d e fl a t e d t y r e ) , a n d
have the tyre pressure checked as
soon as possible.
Puncture
T h e t y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n d e t e c -
tion system is an aid to driv-
ing which does not replace the
need for the driver to be vigilant or to
drive responsibly. Sensor(s) not detected or faulty
A message appears on the multifunction
display, accompanied by an audible sig-
nal, to locate the wheel or wheels which
are not detected or to indicate a fault in
the system.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer to replace
the faulty sensor(s).
This message is also dis-
played when one of the wheels
is away from the vehicle (being
repaired) or when one or more wheels
w i t h o u t a s e n s o r a r e fi t t e d .

ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAMME (ESP)
Electronic stability programme (ESP)
incorporating the following systems:
- the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and the braking system (EBFD),
- the emergency braking assistance,
- the traction control (ASR),
- the dynamic stability control (DSC).
Definitions Traction control (ASR)
The ASR system optimises traction in
order to avoid wheel slip by acting on
the brakes of the driving wheels and on
the engine. It also improves the direc-
tional stability of the vehicle on accel-
eration.
Dynamic stability control (DSC)
If there is a difference between the path
followed by the vehicle and that re-
quired by the driver, the DSC monitors
each wheel and automatically acts on
the brake of one or more wheels and
on the engine to return the vehicle to
the required path, within the limits of the
laws of physics.
Emergency braking assistance
In an emergency, this system enables
you to reach the optimum braking pres-
sure more quickly and therefore reduce
the stopping distance.
It is triggered in relation to the speed at
which the brake pedal is pressed. This
is felt by a reduction in the resistance of
the pedal and an increase in the effec-
tiveness of the braking.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and
braking system (EBFD)
This system improves the stability and ma-
noeuvrability of your vehicle when braking
and offers improved control, in particular
on poor or slippery road surfaces.
The ABS prevents wheel lock in the
event of emergency braking.
The braking system provides integral
management of the braking pressure
wheel by wheel.
Operation
When this warning light comes
o n , a c c o m p a n i e d b y a b u z z e r
and a message, it indicates
that there is a malfunction of
the ABS, which can cause a loss of con-
trol of the vehicle when braking.
When this warning light comes
on, connected to the STOP
warning light, accompanied by
a b u z z e r a n d a m e s s a g e , i t i n -
dicates that there is a malfunction of the
electronic brake force distribution (EBFD),
which can cause a loss of control of the
vehicle when braking.
Stop immediately.
In both cases, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer.
When changing wheels (tyres
and rims), make sure that
these are approved.
Normal operation of the ABS may
make itself felt by slight vibrations of
the brake pedal.
In emergency braking, press
v e r y fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g
the pressure.

Height adjustment
Front seat belt not fastened/
unfastened warning light
Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
T o fi n d t h e a t t a c h m e n t p o i n t ,
s q u e e z e t h e c o n t r o l A and slide it
u n t i l y o u fi n d a n o t c h .
When the ignition is switched on,
this warning light comes on on the
seat belt and passenger's front
air bag warning lights display, if
the driver and/or the front passenger has
not fastened his seat belt.
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h)
t h i s w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s f o r t w o m i n -
utes accompanied by an audible signal.
Once these two minutes have elapsed,
this warning light remains on until the
driver and/or the front passenger fas-
tens his seat belt.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt as it rolls up. SEAT BELTS
Front seat belts
T h e f r o n t s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a p r e -
tensioning and force limiting system.
This system improves safety in the front
seats in the event of a front impact. De-
pending on the severity of the impact,
the pretensioning system instantly tight-
ens the seat belts against the body of
the occupants.
The pretensioning seat belts are active
when the ignition is on.
The force limiter reduces the pressure
of the seat belt on the chest of the occu-
pant, so increasing their protection.

When the cruise control is
switched on, be careful if you
maintain the pressure on one
of the programmed speed changing
buttons: this may result in a very rapid
change in the speed of your vehicle.
Do not use the cruise control on slip-
p e r y r o a d s o r i n h e a v y t r a f fi c .
On a steep descent, the cruise control
will not be able to prevent the vehi-
cle from exceeding the programmed
speed.
To avoid any risk of jamming of the
pedals:
- ensure that the mat is positioned correctly,
- n e v e r fi t o n e m a t o n t o p o f a n o t h e r .
Exceeding the programmed speed
Intentional or unintentional exceeding of the programmed
s p e e d r e s u l t s i n fl a s h i n g o f t h i s s p e e d o n t h e d i s p l a y .
Return to the programmed speed, by means of intentional or
unintentional deceleration of the vehicle, automatically ca n-
c e l s t h e fl a s h i n g o f t h e s p e e d .
Return to normal driving
Turn dial 1 to the "0" position: the cruise control mode is
deselected. The display returns to the distance rec order.
Operating fault
In the event of a cruise control malfunc-
tion, the speed is cleared resulting in
fl a s h i n g o f t h e d a s h e s .
Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Set the programmed speed by ac-
celerating to the required speed, then
press button 2 or 3 (e.g.: 70 mph
(110 km/h)).
Switch off the cruise control by pressing button 4 : the
d i s p l a y c o n fi r m s t h a t i t h a s b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f ( O F F ) .
Switch the cruise control back on by pressing button 4
again.
You can then change the programmed speed using buttons
2 and 3 :
- by + or - 1 mph (km/h) = short press,
- by + or - 5 mph (km/h) = long press,
- in steps of + or - 5 mph (km/h) = maintained press.
Turn dial 1 to the "CRUISE" po-
sition: the cruise control mode is
selected but is not switched on
(OFF).
