SEAT BELTS
Front seat belts Seat belt not fastened/unfastened

Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap.
When the ignition is switched
on, this warning lamp comes
on, either on the instrument
panel or on the seat belt and
passenger's front airbag warn-
ing lamp display, if the driver and/or the
front passenger has not fastened their
seat belt.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt as it reels in.
1. Front and/or rear seat belts not fas-
tened/unfastened warning lamp.
2. Front left seat belt warning lamp.
3. Front right seat belt warning lamp.
4. Rear right seat belt warning lamp.
5. Rear left seat belt warning lamp.

The corresponding warning lamp
2 or 3
comes on in red on the seat belt and
passenger's front air bag warning lamps
display if the seat belt is not fastened or
is unfastened.
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h)
t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s f o r t w o m i n -
utes accompanied by an audible signal
of increasing volume. Once these two
minutes have elapsed, this warning lamp
remains on until the driver and/or the
front passenger fastens their seat belt.
T h e f r o n t s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a p r e -
tensioning and force limiting system.
This system improves safety in the front
seats in the event of a front impact.
Depending on the severity of the im-
pact, the pretensioning system instantly
tightens the seat belts against the body
of the occupants.
The pretensioning seat belts are active
when the ignition is on.
The force limiter reduces the pressure of
the seat belt on the chest of the occupant,
so improving their protection.

Rear seat belts

lamps display, when one or more rear
passengers unfasten their seat belt.
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h),
t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s f o r t w o m i n -
utes accompanied by an audible signal
of increasing volume. Once these two
minutes have elapsed, this warning
lamp remains on until the one or more
rear passengers fasten their seat belt.
Fastening
Remove the strap from the guide A
before use.
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue
in the buckle.
Check that the seat belt is fastened
correctly by pulling the strap. Seat belt unfastened warning lamps
d i s p l a y
When the ignition is switched on, with
the engine running or the vehicle mov-
ing at a speed below approximately
12 mph (20 km/h), the corresponding
warning lamps
4 and 5 come on in red
for approximately 30 seconds, if the
seat belt is not fastened.
When the vehicle is moving at a speed
of more than approximately 12 mph
(20 km/h), the corresponding warning
lamp 4 or 5 comes on in red, accompa-
nied by an audible signal and a message
on the multifunction screen, if a rear pas-
senger has unfastened their seat belt.
Unfastening
Press the red button on the buckle.
Guide the seat belt as it reels in. I n t h e " c a b r i o l e t " c o n fi g u r a t i o n , i f
the rear seats are not occupied,
slide the straps in the guides

If at least one of the two airbag
warning lamps come on continu-
ously, do not install a child seat on
the front passenger seat.
Have the system checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on in
the instrument panel, accompa-
nied by an audible warning and
a message in the multifunction
screen, contact a PEUGEOT dealer to
have the system checked. The airbags
may no longer be deployed in the event
of a serious impact.
Reactivation
When you remove the child seat, turn
the switch to the "ON" position to re-
activate the airbag and so assure the
safety of your front passenger in the
event of an impact.
With the ignition on, this warn-
ing lamp comes on in the seat
belt and passenger's front air-
bag warning lamps display for
approximately one minute, if the pas-
senger's front airbag is activated. To assure the safety of your child,
the passenger's front airbag must
be deactivated when you install a
"rear facing" child seat on the front
passenger seat.
Otherwise, the child would risk be-
ing seriously injured or killed if the
airbag were deployed.
According to version, this warning
lamp comes on either in the instru-
ment panel or in the seat belt and
passenger's front airbag warning
lamps display when the ignition is on and
until the airbag is reactivated. I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s ,
contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
The passenger's front airbag
may no longer be deployed in
the event of a serious impact.
Deactivation
Only the passenger's front airbag can
be deactivated:
with the ignition off , insert the key
in the passenger airbag deactivation
switch,
turn it to the "OFF" position,
then, remove the key keeping the
switch in the new position.

"PORSCHE TIPTRONIC SYSTEM" AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
F o u r o r s i x s p e e d a u t o m a t i c g e a r b o x
which offers a choice between the com-
fort of fully automatic operation, en-
hanced by sport and snow programmes,
or manual gear changing.
Four driving modes are provided:
- automatic operation for electronic
management of the gears by the
g e a r b o x ,
- sport programme for a more dynamic
style of driving,
- snow programme to improve driving
when traction is poor,
- manual operation for sequential
changing of the gears by the driver. Gear lever
P. Park.
- Immobilisation of the vehicle, park- ing brake on or off.
- Starting the engine.
R. Reverse.
- Reversing manoeuvres, vehicle sta- tionary, engine at idle.
N. Neutral.
- Immobilisation of the vehicle, park- ing brake on.
- Starting the engine.
D. Automatic operation.

Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you
can engage position P or N to place the
g e a r b o x i n n e u t r a l .
In both cases, apply the parking brake
to immobilise the vehicle. Operating fault
When the ignition is on, the
lighting of this warning lamp,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message in the mul-
t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n , i n d i c a t e s a g e a r b o x
malfunction.
I n t h i s c a s e , t h e g e a r b o x s w i t c h e s t o
emergency mode and is locked in 3rd
gear. You may feel a substantial knock
when changing from P to R and from N
to R . This will not cause any damage to
t h e g e a r b o x .
D o n o t e x c e e d a s p e e d o f 6 0 m p h
( 1 0 0 k m / h ) , l o c a l s p e e d r e s t r i c t i o n s p e r -
mitting.
Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
This warning lamp may also come on if
a door is opened.
There is a risk of damage to the
g e a r b o x :
- if you press the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time,
- if you force the lever from posi- tion P to another position when
t h e b a t t e r y i s fl a t .
Manual operation
Select position M for sequential
c h a n g i n g o f t h e f o u r o r s i x g e a r s .
Push the lever towards the + sign to
change up a gear.
Pull the lever towards the - sign to
change down a gear.
D disappears and the gears
engaged appear in succes-
sion on the instrument panel.
If the engine spped is too low
or too high, the gear selected
fl a s h e s f o r a f e w s e c o n d s , t h e n t h e a c -
tual gear engaged is displayed.
It is possible to change from position D
( a u t o m a t i c ) t o p o s i t i o n M ( m a n u a l ) a t
any time.
When the vehicle is stationary or mov-
i n g v e r y s l o w l y , t h e g e a r b o x s e l e c t s
gear M1 automatically.
The sport and snow programmes do not
operate in manual mode. If the lever is not in position
P ,
when the driver's door is opened or
a p p r o x i m a t e l y 4 5 s e c o n d s a f t e r t h e
ignition is switched off, an audible
signal is heard and a message ap-
pears.
Return the lever to position P ;
the audible signal stops and the
message disappears.
It is only possible to change from one
gear to another if the vehicle speed and
engine speed permit; otherwise, the
g e a r b o x w i l l o p e r a t e t e m p o r a r i l y i n a u -
tomatic mode.
Invalid value during manual
operation
This symbol is displayed if a
gear is not engaged correctly
(selector between two posi-
t i o n s ) .
To limit fuel consumption when sta-
tionary for long periods with the en-
g i n e r u n n i n g ( t r a f fi c j a m . . . ) , p l a c e
the gear lever in position N and ap-
ply the parking brake.

SPEED LIMITER
System which prevents the vehicle from
e x c e e d i n g t h e s p e e d p r o g r a m m e d b y
the driver.
When the programmed speed limit is
reached, pressing the accelerator pedal
no longer has any effect.
The speed limiter is switched on man-
ually: it requires a programmed speed
o f a t l e a s t 2 0 m p h ( 3 0 k m / h ) .
The speed limiter is switched off by
manual operation of the control.
The programmed speed can be
e x c e e d e d t e m p o r a r i l y b y p r e s s i n g t h e
a c c e l e r a t o r fi r m l y .
To return to the programmed speed,
simply slow down to a speed below the
programmed speed.
The programmed speed remains in the
memory when the ignition is switched off. The controls of this system are grouped
together on stalk

The speed limiter cannot, in any
circumstances, replace the need
to respect speed limits, nor can it
replace the need for vigilance and
responsibility on the part of the
driver.

On a steep descent or in the event
of sharp acceleration, the speed
limiter will not be able to prevent
t h e v e h i c l e f r o m e x c e e d i n g t h e p r o -
grammed speed.
T o a v o i d a n y r i s k o f j a m m i n g o f t h e
pedals:
- ensure that the mat is posi- tioned correctly,
- d o n o t fi t o n e m a t o n t o p o f a n - other.
Programming
Turn dial 1 to the "LIMIT" position:
the speed limiter mode is selected
b u t i s n o t s w i t c h e d o n ( O F F ) .
Exceeding the programmed speed
P r e s s i n g t h e a c c e l e r a t o r p e d a l t o e x c e e d t h e p r o g r a m m e d
speed will not have any effect unless you press the pedal
fi r m l y past the point of resistance .
The speed limiter is deactivated temporarily and the pro-
g r a m m e d s p e e d , w h i c h i s s t i l l d i s p l a y e d , fl a s h e s .
Returning to the programmed speed, by means of intention-
al or unintentional deceleration of the vehicle, automati cally
c a n c e l s t h e fl a s h i n g o f t h e p r o g r a m m e d s p e e d .
Return to normal driving
Turn dial 1 to the "0" position: the speed limiter mode is
deselected. The display returns to the distance rec order. Operating fault
In the event of a speed limiter malfunc-
tion, the speed is cleared resulting in
fl a s h i n g o f t h e d a s h e s .
Have the system checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
You do not have to switch the speed
limiter on in order to set the speed.
Switch the speed limiter on by pressing button 4 .
Switch the speed limiter off by pressing button 4 : the dis-
p l a y c o n fi r m s t h a t i t h a s b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f ( O F F ) .
Switch the speed limiter back on by pressing button 4
again.
Set the speed value by pressing button 2 or 3 (e.g.: 55 mph
( 9 0 k m / h ) ) .
You can then change the programmed speed using but tons 2
and 3 :
- b y + o r - 1 m p h ( k m / h ) = s h o r t p r e s s ,
- b y + o r - 5 m p h ( k m / h ) = l o n g p r e s s ,
- i n s t e p s o f + o r - 5 m p h ( k m / h ) = m a i n t a i n e d p r e s s .

CRUISE CONTROL
System which automatically maintains
the speed of the vehicle at the value
programmed by the driver, without any
action on the accelerator pedal.
The cruise control is switched on
manually: it requires a minimum vehicle
s p e e d o f 2 5 m p h ( 4 0 k m / h ) a n d t h e e n -
gaging:
- of fourth gear on the manual gear- b o x ,
- of second gear on the automat- i c g e a r b o x , i n s e q u e n t i a l d r i v i n g
mode,
-
of position D o n t h e a u t o m a t i c g e a r b o x .
The cruise control is switched off man-
ually or by pressing the brake or clutch
pedal or on triggering of the ESP sys-
tem for safety reasons.
I t i s p o s s i b l e t o e x c e e d t h e p r o g r a m m e d
speed temporarily by pressing the ac-
celerator pedal.
To return to the programmed speed,
simply release the accelerator pedal.
Switching off the ignition cancels any
programmed speed value. The controls of this system are grouped
together on lever

When the cruise control is switched
on, be careful if you maintain the
pressure on one of the programmed
speed changing buttons: this may
result in a very rapid change in the
speed of your vehicle.
Do not use the cruise control on
s l i p p e r y r o a d s o r i n h e a v y t r a f fi c .
On a steep descent, the cruise

grammed speed.

PARKING SENSORS
T h i s s y s t e m i n d i c a t e s t h e p r o x i m i t y o f a n
o b s t a c l e ( p e r s o n , v e h i c l e , t r e e , g a t e , e t c . )
w h i c h c o m e s w i t h i n t h e fi e l d o f d e t e c t i o n
of sensors located in the bumper.
Certain types of obstacle (stake, road-
w o r k s c o n e , e t c . ) d e t e c t e d i n i t i a l l y w i l l
no longer be detected at the end of the
manoeuvre due to the presence of blind
spots. This function cannot, in any cir-
cumstances, take the place of the
vigilance and responsibility of the
driver. Rear parking sensors
Audible assistance
T h e p r o x i m i t y i n f o r m a t i o n i s g i v e n b y a
discontinuous audible signal, the fre-
quency of which increases as the ve-
hicle approaches the obstacle.
The sound emitted by the speaker (right
o r l e f t ) i n d i c a t e s t h e s i d e o n w h i c h t h e
obstacle is located.
When the distance between the vehicle
and the obstacle becomes less than ap-
p r o x i m a t e l y t h i r t y c e n t i m e t r e s , t h e a u d i -
ble signal becomes continuous.
The system is switched on by engaging
reverse gear. This is accompanied by
an audible signal.
The system is switched off when you
e x i t r e v e r s e g e a r .
This supplements the audible signal by
displaying segments in the multifunc-
tion screen which move progressively
nearer to the vehicle. When the obsta-
cle is near, the "Danger" symbol is also
displayed in the screen.
